This Is Us is not back on NBC until September 25th, but they began filming today. Last season when they left off, it ended with Randall (Sterling K Brown) and his girls on the bed together. It looks like the season begins with him front and center too. At least the first scene does and it appears to start off on a happy note. But how long will it stay that way? As we know, this show will find a way to make you cry by the end of the episode. So not long.
This was not the only thing the show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, revealed today. He also debuted the full trailer for his movie Life Itself with Olive Wilde and Antonio Banderas that comes out 4 days before the season 3 premiere of his drama. Mark your calendars for both and stock up on tissues because you will need them.
Two years ago I sat down to write a film, only realizing after that I’d written it for my mom (who we lost ten years ago) and my wife (who I met exactly one year later). I hope you like the trailer. I think you’ll like the movie. I am crazy about everyone involved. #LifeItselfhttps://t.co/anT069HJzk
This Friday, Sterling K Brown’s new film Hotel Artemis is coming out and he really wants you to go see it. So much so, he promoted it wearing just a towel with the movie’s name starting where certain things end.
Did he convince you to run out and see him on the big screen? I know I bought my ticket to it after watching this.
You know NBC, you might want to create This Is Us towels for the cast to promote the show in. Not that it needs it, but it would just make the show as hot as, well, that slow cooker.
Remember after How I Met Your Mother ended, it was revealed that they shot part of its series finale during the first season? Well, Sterling K Brown and Mandy Moore revealed that This Is Us has already filmed part of their ending too.
Entertainment Tonight spoke with the cast at an event and Brown revealed that they know how the beloved drama is going to say goodbye. Then he divulged that, “Future Randall, is, sort of, at a place, where we are towards the end of the show.”
When Moore came to them, they wanted to know more and she dished. She said, “Maybe parts of the ending have been shot!” Explaining that, “I know, it’s crazy! Although it gives me solace to at least know that Dan [Fogelman] knows how the show is going to end and he’s not flying by the seat of his pants, you know? Like, there is sort of a through line and a punctuation point and he knows how it all comes together.”
Before you freak out, that episode is not going to air anytime soon. Unless we stop watching the show. Then that ending will be sooner, rather than later.
We kind of have a glimpse where Randall is going to be at the end of it all, but what do you think will happen to his mother and siblings? I will not even bother to guess because one thing we know about this show, expect the unexpected. They always find a way to surprise us. That and make us cry uncontrollably.
Ellen DeGeneres had Sterling K Brown and his friend and costar Brian Tyree Henry on the show today to talk about their film Hotel Artemis. The two actors have a game they play called Movie Game. Basically, someone names an actor, then you have to name a movie they were in and the other person then has to name someone else in the movie as you have to name a movie that actor was in and so on.
Therefore, there is a lot of concentration going on in this game. So much so, that if a man suddenly popped through the center of the table, you would 💩 in your pants. That is exactly what happened to the This Is Us star. Well maybe not the 💩ing, but he ran like his life depended on it.
You know Ellen is going to have him on the show now all the time, just to scare him because he is the new Eric Stonestreet. Something I am A-OK with it because I am a sadist and love to see people in pain like that. That and it was really funny. He always appears so relaxed and even-keeled, that it is nice to finally see him lose his 💩!
Oliver Hudson was on The Ladygang podcast and he told them about a huge role he was up for a few years ago. Milo Ventimiglia and him both auditioned to play Jack Pearson on This Is Us and we know which one got it. There is an interesting story why he is not playing the role that makes us cry every week.
After a successful audition, Hudson was asked to come back and do a chemistry reading with Mandy Moore; but he had a 10-day fishing period at the same time. He opted to the do the latter and we all know what happened next. Does he regret his decision? “And then, of course, it premiered massive and I’m like, ‘Oh s#*t, ok.’”
As they tell us, ladies, whenever we break up with a guy, there are plenty of fish in the sea. He too should have followed those words of wisdom and postponed his trip. Fish will always be there, but a good role will not be.
At least he has Splitting Up Together.
When it comes to how he would have been as the patriarch on the show, as much as I adore him, I cannot picture anyone but Ventimiglia as Jack. Can you?
