Tonight during the 8p hour on NBC, you are going to need the tissues. But, I thought that This Is Us airs at 9p. It does. However, you will be laughing so hard with The Rock and Mr. Mayor that you will be crying happy tears.
Young Rock starts things off at 8p, and things are starting off on a high note. DJ’s dad wins the Tag Team Belt of the WWF. That means that Rocky (Joseph Lee Anderson) is going to hit the road. He will leave his wife (Stacey Leilua) and Dewey (Adrian Groulx) behind.
However, years later, Rocky will ask his family to join him in Nashville. Dwayne (Bradley Constan) heads out before his mom, and it is not what he expected.
Talking about what he didn’t expect, DJ (Uli Latukefu) thought he would go from the University of Miami into the NFL. He didn’t. Instead, he was recruited by the Canadian Football League.
Finally, we get to The Rock, who is running for President. However, there is an archnemesis who is going to try to stop that. What did The Rock do to him? You will have to tune in next week to find out.
The Rock plays a more significant role in the show this season as compared to last. And the more DJ, the better. Even if they aren’t focusing on our alma mater as much this season.
Then at 8:30p, it is time for Mr. Mayor’s second term on NBC.
Things are changing at the LA Mayor’s office. The Mayor (Ted Danson) has hired an innovative team to make sure that things run more smoothly. However, his staff doesn’t agree with him.
Apri (Holly Hunter) is going to do everything in her power to prove that they are needed. For example, she is going to help his daughter (Kyla Kennedy) pass her permit test. Apri thinks that the Mayor will be happy about that, but he isn’t.
She is not the only one who is not happy about them being there. Mikaela (Vella Lovell) and Tommy (Mike Cabellon) are wary of them, especially when they find out the innovative team wants to fire those who they don’t think are worthy of staying on. Who will it be? Will it be Apri, Mikaela, Tommy, or Jayden (Bobby Moynihan)?
You will just have to tune in to find out, and also for a surprise ending!
The main reason to tune in is to see them improv their way through each episode. It is fun playing, is it scripted or improved. We will never know…
One thing I do is, is that if Ted Danson ran for Mayor of Los Angeles, he would have my vote.
The Rock spends a lot of time with his daughters, and because of that, they are taking on his playful personality. That is great for us but really bad for him.
Case in point, Jasmine has a game called trust with her dad, and he plays it with her. The 6-year-old and her sister, Gia, conspired to get him to trust them when he did, they punched him the balls.
In the latest round, Jazzy put a lot of peanut butter on aluminum foil, told DJ to close his eyes, and then she smashed into his face. Did he get mad? Nope, he just laughed with his middle child. Because the actor knows, “one day they’ll be grown & gone, and smashing the shit outta daddy’s face with peanut butter is the last thing they’ll want to do – so while they still love hanging out with daddy ~ bring on the peanut butter!!”
His three daughters are lucky to have him as their father because he truly loves them with all of his heart. He will do anything for them, and he will let them do anything they want to him.
I think if The Rock’s daughters Jazmine and Tia have their way, their dad is going to be in one of the prize-winning videos on America’s Funniest Videos.
That is because his two girls played a game of “Daddy close your eyes and TRUST ME” with him. He did, and it was a mistake. That is because “Tia has a helluva straight right” as she punched her dad right in the place where she came from.
I guess she won’t be getting a brother after that. But then again, DJ is a girls’ dad anyways.
BTW I have watched this video like 100 times, and I will never get sick of it.
It is no secret that Vin Deisel and The Rock had a falling out when filming movies in The Fast & The Furious franchise.
Since DJ is so lovable, it would make sense that Diesel would want him in the final movie. So much so that the producer reached out to the star via social media. Therefore, making it look bad if DJ turned it down.
There was more to the story, and DJ gave the details to CNN. “I was very surprised by Vin’s recent post. This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with my partners at Universal as well, all of whom were very supportive as they understand the problem.
Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding. My goal all along was to end my amazing journey with this incredible ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise with gratitude and grace. It’s unfortunate that this public dialogue has muddied the waters. Regardless, I’m confident in the ‘Fast’ universe and its ability to consistently deliver for the audience, and I truly wish my former co-stars and crew members the best of luck and success in the next chapter.”
So, it looks like we won’t be seeing DJ in the final movie even if Universal through truckloads of money at him. I can’t say I blame him. Can you?
