Sight Unseen is the must see show of the season
April 3rd, 2024 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The CW has a new series tonight at 9p, and Sight Unseen is the best new show of the season.

Tess Avery(Dolly Lewis) is a detective whose life is about to change forever. She is going blind. And it is happening quickly.

Her childhood friend, Matt(Jarod Joseph), tells her about Eyes Up. It is a service that helps the visually impaired see by telling them what is in front of them.

Tess winds up calling, and Sunny(Agam Darshi), who is 3,000 miles away, winds up picking up the call. Sunny is an Agoraphobic, and she sees the world through her clients’ eyes.

Sunny keeps Tess’ phone number and offers to help her with cases and more. She does this because her life is uneventful because she never leaves the house, and this is her way of getting out. Reluctantly, Tess agrees to her offer.

And now the two of them are working together to solve crimes. It is unorthodox, but it is working.

They can’t do it alone, so Tess’ old partner, Jake (Daniel Gillies), is helping them out because it is helping him and the victims.

I have seen three episodes, and I am hooked. But then again, I am biased. I have a friend who went blind a few years ago, and I act as her Sunny. So, I know of services like Eyes Up because of my friend.

I wasn’t even 12 minutes into the show before I called my friend and told her to watch because I knew she would love it.

The stuff Tess is going through is realistic. And the actress is believable in the role.

While her blindness is what attracted me to the show, the cases and the storyline are what is keeping me watching.

I think Canadian TV does a better job with police procedurals than us Yanks, and Sight Unseen is no different. They are not as violent and predictable.

This show is educational, entertaining, and enjoyable. I promise you will love it as much as I do. So tune in for something different than everything else on television today.

The Wild Cards season finale will have you guessing until the final second
March 20th, 2024 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 8p, it is time for the season finale of Wild Cards on The CW. And what a way to wrap it all up!

Max (Vanessa Morgan) is a con artist who was arrested for pulling off a heist. However, she was doing it to help free a woman who was being held hostage by her employer.

She winds up taking a liking to Ellis (Giacomo Gianniotti), a detective on probation with the force who wants to return to his old job.

The two of them work so well together that they are assigned to be partners for 90 days. If they make it through the three months, he will get his job back, and she will be in the free and clear.

Tonight is the 90th day, and Max has a plan. Last week, we found out she is married. It turns out her husband is a bigger thief than she is. She convinced him to come back so that they can steal the expensive Imperial egg. This way, they can run off together, and enjoy all the millions coming their way.

But then, she tells Ellis and his bosses her plan. Why would she do that? You are going to have to tune in for a good cop, better criminal series that is just so much fun to watch.

And that is just the beginning of the episode which has so many twists and turns that you don’t know what is going to happen next.

All of that leads to a cliffhanger that makes you hope that the series will be back for another season. Well, that, and because for those of us who have been missing White Collar and Castle, we finally got the perfect enjoyable replacement!

Has the Spencer Sisters been cancelled?
March 15th, 2024 under Lea Thompson, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The CW aired CTV’s sleuth procedural Spencer Sister in the Fall. But was that enough to get the sweet and funny series a second season?

Lea Thompson, who played the mother and author, who is solving crimes with her ex-cop daughter, gave an update on the show’s future.

I think the @ctv canciled us. Thank you friends who enjoyed our little show! I am sad we won’t make more of #thespencersisters I loved so much working in beautiful #winnepeg and acting with the wonderful @staceyfarber and the rest of our cast and crew. We had such joy acting together. Hoping to make you laugh. When we got a late time slot on Friday night I was worried. And It’s a weird time with companies changing staff. Strikes. And the recalculating of our business. And we just got in the crossfire of too much change I guess. It was fun to be on @thecw as well. With a better time slot. But alas. On to new frontiers. But it’s always sad to say goodbye to a great character. And a fun job. And to the fans who rooted for us. thank you!!!

I hope she is wrong and that The CW decides to give it another season. It would be a good pairing with Wild Cards. Both series are fun and funny crime-solving adventures. And we need more of that and less of the grit.

The CW cancels Run for the Burbs and Everyone Else Burns
November 14th, 2023 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The new CW tried to do sitcoms with imports from all over the World, and it doesn’t seem to be working out for them.

That is because first they pulled Australia’s The Bump, and now they are doing the same to Canada’s Run for the Burbs and Britain’s Everyone Else Burns.

It is not all sad news. Canada’s Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything are still airing on Thursdays. At least for now…
