BTWF: Charlayne Woodard on Taxi
July 23rd, 2018 under Before They Were Famous, Ryan Murphy, Taxi. [ Comments: none ]

Before Charlayne Woodard was a dance teacher on Pose making dancers’ dreams come true, she was driving a taxi in NYC while hoping to make it as an actress. She looks the same now as she did when she was 28 in that 1983 episode.

Yesterday, when I was watching Pose, she made a facial expression that made a lightbulb go off and I knew where I knew her from. Taxi is my favorite show, so I have seen every episode more times than I should admit. And yet, it was her one episode that really stood out for me, enough so I was like that Nina from the episode where is obsessed with Alex. If you have never seen it, then watch it above. She really hit it out of the park with her performance. I wish I could be as happy as her character.

Josh Groban goes from one Tony to another Tony!
June 10th, 2018 under Josh Groban, Netflix, Taxi. [ Comments: none ]

For Josh Groban this has been the year of Tonys. He started it off by filming the Netflix show The Good Cop with Tony Danza and on that series he will be playing Tony Jr. Tonight, he is hostings The Tonys. Which is why Netflix thought it would be a good time to announce when you can stream the whole first season of The Good Cop. Mark your calendars for September 21st because that is when it will debut.

If he is not dating a Toni and releasing a song named Tony this year, then he is making a big mistake. Maybe if he did, then he would actually win one of those awards that he sang about not having tonight during Broadway’s biggest night. That and he could get married if he wanted to. Don’t you agree?

Are we sure that Tony Danza is not Josh Groban’s father?
March 30th, 2018 under Josh Groban, Netflix, Taxi. [ Comments: none ]

Tony Danza is playing Josh Groban’s father on Netflix’s Good Cop. Yesterday, was their last day filming the cop drama and both men shared this photo. Now that we have seen the two of them together, they really look like father and son. They even have the same eyes. Don’t you think they look related?

Good Cop comes to the streaming service in the fall.

Tony Danza will give Josh Groban advice on how to handle women!
November 8th, 2017 under Josh Groban, Netflix, Taxi. [ Comments: 2 ]

Josh Groban is going to do something he has never done before. The singer is going to co-star in a series and not just be a guest star on one. The Tony nominee will play Tony Danza’s son named Tony in a Netflix show called, Tony, no wait, it is actually called The Good Cop. It just seemed like a logical name since everyone else is going by Tony including Tony Danza.

Anyways, Netflix describes his character Tony Jr as, “an earnest, obsessively honest NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules. Tony Jr is son to Tony Sr, a disgraced, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules, played by Tony Danza. In The Good Cop, a new 10 episode one-hour dramedy series, this ‘odd couple’ become unofficial partners as Tony Sr offers his overly cautious son blunt, street-wise advice on everything from handling suspects to handling women.”

I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for this show to debut next year because Danza has been a favorite of mine ever since I saw him in a little show called Taxi when I was kid. When it comes to the Groobs, it will be interesting to see him in comedic role on episodic series. He proved he has the chops for it on The Crazy Ones and Ally McBeal.

No word if he will sing on the show, but I am sure they will find a way to make that happen. It seems to be mandatory because he always manages to get a note in there in some way like on this past Friday’s Crazy Ex Girlfriend. Shh, don’t tell anyone that is a musical show. Sadly, this one is not.

UPDATE: Groban seemed to hint on Twitter that he will have to shave his beard for the part. Which is a good thing because it will make the two actors look more like father and son. They have the same eyes, so it will be nice to see if they also have the same cheeks and chins. That and I hate beards.
