Stephen Colbert doesn’t envy whoever they put in David Letterman’s chair!
April 11th, 2014 under Stephen Colbert. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday on The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert mentioned David Letterman’s retirement; but he didn’t talk about taking over The Late Show when he retires. Instead after he praised the CBS late night host he said, “I got to tell you, I do not envy whoever they try to put in his chair.” Then he added after the audience chanted his name, “Those are some huge shoes to fill and some really big pants.” The fake news anchor was referring to that fact that his production company is called Worldwide Pants.
Seeing how Colbert shared the news with his audience, makes me even more confident that he is the perfect person for the job. Has he won you over? Or did he have you at, “Hello!”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2015!
April 10th, 2014 under Stephen Colbert. [ Comments: none ]

Just a week after David Letterman announced that he was retiring from The Late Show, CBS announced today that Stephen Colbert will be replacing him as host of the CBS late night show. The Comedy Central host will take over for Dave when he vacates his position. Who will take over for him on Comedy Central is yet to be determined.
Colbert had this to say about his new job, “Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career.” Then he added, “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.” And he concluded the thought by proving why he is a good choice for the job, “I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”
How much of the Late Show will be like Colbert Report and how much will be like Letterman’s is unknown at this time, but I am sure it will be a good mix of both.
Now when it comes to the two Jimmys, they definitely have some new competition to be worried about. He is going to make things at 11:35p a lot more interesting.
Good luck to him!

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly’s James Hibberd Tweeted this new information about Colbert’s Comedy Central staff, “I’m told Stephen told his Colbert Report staff this morning, and they’re all coming to Late Show”

UPDATE 2: Jimmy Fallon Tweeted this about his upcoming competition, “I’d like to welcome the great @StephenAtHome to network late night and also congratulate him on his new name: Jimmy Colbert.”

What was up with Diane Keaton on The Colbert Report?
May 1st, 2012 under Diane Keaton, Stephen Colbert. [ Comments: none ]

Remember that interview where David Letterman interviewed Joaquin Phoenix? You know the one that was all kinds of strange and you thought no one would ever come close to the weirdness of it? Well yesterday Diane Keaton came pretty close when Stephen Colbert talked to her about book on The Colbert Report. She started off the interview by asking him he was still running for President, then she accused him of hugging her inappropriately before calling him a sexual pervert and throughout it all she didn’t answer his questions.
Normally the Oscar winner comes off so likeable in interviews, that I don’t know what was happening here. Seriously what was up with that whole chat? When it comes to Colbert, he handled it like a champ. Much better than most would, but then again what can you do in that situation. I think he handled it much better than Letterman did because he didn’t make fun of her to her face and played along as best as he could.
