Less than a week ago, Damar Hamlin died and was revived on the field during the Buffalo Bills vs Cincinnati Bengals game after a tackle gone wrong. He spent the next two days on a ventilator, and then doctors were able to remove it. He is still in critical condition, but he is breathing on his own and talking to his loved ones and his team.
On that note, today, he shared a photo of himself in his bed cheering on the Buffalo Bills. It is the first time that we have seen him since Monday, and he looks like he is getting stronger.
Back to the photo, his love worked because his Bills beat the New England Patriots 35-23! Go Bills! And go, Damar!
He did more for football in one week than anything else in years.
On Monday night, Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after a tackle gone wrong during the Buffalo Bills vs the Cincinnati Bengals game. Medics spent 10 minutes trying to revive him, and eventually, their efforts worked.
After that, it was up to our prayers and the doctors at the hospital to save his life, and together it worked. By Thursday night, doctors were able to remove the breathing tube, and he was able to talk to his family and teammates.
Today, the Safety was able to communicate with us. He wrote, “Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recovery, keep praying for me! 🫶🏾3️⃣”
They say the third time is the charm, and the Bills’ #3 is Football’s charm. May his recovery continue to be miraculous.
On Monday night, Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field during the Buffalo Bills vs the Cincinnati Bengals game after he tackled a player. Medics spent 10 minutes trying to get his heart started again, and they were successful.
However, his life was still in danger. When he got to the hospital, they put him on a ventilator. He spent the next two days sedated, but then doctors were able to take him off the sedation. And he was able to communicate via writing, which showed the doctors that his facilities were still there!
All of that was very encouraging. And today, we got even more encouraging news. Doctors took out the tube, and he is breathing on his own. Not only that, but he is able to talk. So, he Facetimed his team and told them, “Love you boys.”
What happened to Hamlin was horrific, but what has come out of it is amazing. He humanized the sport and brought Americans together, and we prayed for his recovery.
Our prayers were able to assist in his miraculous recovery! I can’t wait to see him walk out of that hospital and return to the field. Hopefully, he will be able to surprise us at the Super Bowl. But let’s just take one day at a time!
Monday night was a scary night for the Buffalo Bills. Damar Hamlin appeared to have had a normal tackle with a player from the Cincinnati Bangles, but it was not normal. The safety stood up, and then he immediately collapsed to the ground. That is because he suffered cardiac arrest and first aid responders spent 10 minutes trying to revive him.
Over the last two days, we have heard that he was showing positive signs of improvement. And today, we got really got a really positive update from his team.
“Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress,” the Bills statement reads. “We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”
If that was enough good news, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport wrote, “#Bills S Damar Hamlin opened his eyes last night and is responsive. Truly incredible. One thing that’s very clear from speaking to those close to him: They are endlessly appreciative of the medical care given to Hamlin on the field immediately, then over the last 72 hours.” Then he added, “Damar Hamlin has been gripping the hands of those close to him. Another very positive sign.”
His improvement thus far has been a miracle. Let’s pray he continues down this path of improvement. Don’t stop because, obviously, our prayers are working.
UPDATE: Two doctors from UC Health Physicians gave an update on Damar Hamlin. They said he is awake, moving his hands and legs, and can communicate via writing. He is not able to talk because he is still on a ventilator.
The first question he had, was to find out who won Monday’s game. If that is not proof that mentally, he is still there mentally. I don’t know what is.
He still has a long road ahead of him. But this is a promising start.
On Monday night, Damar Hamlin suddenly collapsed during the Buffalo Bills vs the Cincinnati Bangles game after he tackled another player. The emergency medics performed CPR and AED on him for 10 minutes before they were able to get his heart started again. Once they were able to do that, they rushed him to the hospital.
Since then, he has been sedated on a ventilator, and doctors are hoping to get his breathing stats back to 100%. Yesterday, he went from 0 to 50%, and that is an improvement.
This morning, Hamlin’s friend and spokesperson, Jordon Rooney, gave an update to ESPN’sColey Harvey. Rooney said, “We’ve got some positive steps in the right direction. So still has a long ways to go. But in terms of what doctors wanted to see, it’s positive.”
Our prayers are working, so let’s keep praying for him to recover with no permanent damage.
