Dominic Purcell breaks his nose while filming Prison Break
June 1st, 2016 under AnnaLynne McCord, Fox, Sick Bay. [ Comments: none ]

A few weeks ago, Fox announced that they were bringing back Prison Break and they are already filming the new season.
Today, while filming a scene for the drama, an iron bar accidentally fell on Dominic Purcell’s head and he was airlifted to a hospital. The closest one was two hours away, but thankfully due to the quick thinking by his girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord and Christina Northrup, he got the right care as quickly as possible.
Tests revealed that he did not suffer any serious injuries, but he did break his nose in two places. Instead of being upset by it, he joked, “I got a free nose job out of it.”
He wasn’t the only one who could laugh about it afterwards, McCord said, “That hard head is good for something.” I say afterwards because in that photo of them in the helicopter, you can see the fear in her face. Fear that was alleviated when he was given the all-clear.
Once he was released from the hospital, he was flown back to the set and immediately went back to work. Proving he is just as tough as his character.

Randolph Mantooth is cancer free
December 8th, 2015 under Sick Bay. [ Comments: none ]

Back in August, Randolph Mantooth revealed that he had cancer. A few days ago, the Emergency star announced on Facebook that he is cancer free.

Back when I was in high school, one of the books that was on the “required reading” list was Dickens’ ‘Tale of Two Cities’. I must admit the opening line of the book, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” went right over my head. But that opening line pretty much sums up this past year for me. Hearing “you have cancer” and enduring the ensuing treatment was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But, a few weeks ago, hearing “you’re cancer-free” was music to my ears.
With the holidays approaching, I’m truly thankful for the love and support of my family and friends. I’m thankful for my determined doctors and modern medicine. I’m also thankful for the thousands of prayers that have lifted my spirits along the way. The road to full recovery will take many more months — chemo really kicked my butt! – but this Thanksgiving Day I’ll put that aside and simply be grateful for the special people in my life, and for the gift of life itself. I wish you all a blessed holiday, and I thank every one of you for standing by me through the best of times and the worst of times. Better days lie ahead!

The actor is hoping to resume his speaking engagements next year and we are hoping he will be able to do just that. Emergency became more than a job to him, and he has done tremendous things for fireman and paramedics since then. Hopefully, he will continue to do even more for them next year.

Emergency’s Randolph Mantooth reveals he’s battling cancer
August 31st, 2015 under Sick Bay. [ Comments: none ]

Randolph Mantooth has been very quiet on social media recently and yesterday he revealed why. The star of Emergency took to Facebook to let his fans know he has been battling cancer.

Hey everyone,
I know I’ve been absent from social media for a long time now, so I want to start by thanking my fans and followers for hanging in there with me. Your unfailing loyalty never ceases to amaze me. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.
Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with cancer, and I decided to share that news with only a small circle of family and friends, who respected and honored my request for privacy, and were there to help every step of the way.
It pleases me to say that I have successfully completed treatment and have begun the long recovery process. I am feeling stronger every day and am focusing now on getting back to my normal life as quickly as I can.

He also let his fans know that he sadly lost his sister to cancer on August 26th.
Mantooth is hoping to get back into the swing of things again real soon, but he needs a little more time. Hopefully he will be better soon and Facebooking and Tweeting up a storm.
Did you know that even after Emergency ended, he is still very active in charities related to firemen? Emergency was more than a show to him, it has become part of his life for nearly 40 years now.
If you have never seen Emergency, the medical drama that helped to make Paramedics a national program, you can watch it daily on MeTV or binge watch it on Netflix. I highly recommend doing one or the other.

Tommy Chong announced today that he is once again battling cancer and this time he is suffering from rectal cancer. This is how he broke the news on Twitter:

I have good news and bad news. First the bad news, the cancer came back and it’s a real pain in the butt. The good news is I now have to use more marijuana to treat the cancer. I will be documenting my cancer fight on the Chong and Chong podcast to let my fans know how the fight is going. I will be documenting my cancer fight on the Chong and Chong podcast to let my fans know how the fight is going.

Hopefully he will beat this just like he beat the prostate cancer 3 years ago.
