Sacha Baron Cohen is back on TV with his first show in over 15 years and it is going to have a ripple effect in DC. The premiere episode of Who Is America starts out with a bang on Showtime tonight at 10p (it is available to stream and OnDemand now) as in people on the right promoting arming toddlers with guns. I wish I was exaggerating, but I am not. They can complain all they want how they were taken advantage of, but they all could have said no. They did not have a gun to their heads, pun intended.
Before we get to the shocking, disgusting and sickening segment above. There were a few others. Cohen is an equal opportunity guy, so he starts off the series with Bernie Sanders. Next, he talks to a Republican Rep and her emasculated husband. The third segment features an interview with an art gallery owner that does not fit in with the show. But it is the much-needed calm before the final segment.
That segment is the one above where he talks to gun advocates, gun lobbyists and current and former Congressman about arming babies, toddlers and kids with guns. You would think no would be stupid enough to promote it, but you can see them salivating at the idea of it. Are those the people you want representing you?
I mean who would even think it is a good idea to put a gun in a stuffed animal and show a 4-year-old how to use it? Philip Van Cleave does and even shot an instructional video with Cohen. Lobbyist Larry Pratt loves the idea. He actually laughed out loud when Cohen made a joke that is not rape if you are married.
Finally, he talks to former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson and radio host Joe Walsh about it and even gets them to go on camera supporting it while Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz would not. How can anyone ever elect Rohrabacher and Wilson again after watching this? I know their supporters love their guns more than their family and Gd, but they should have some common sense that this is beyond idiotic. I hope and pray we are better than that.
Anyways, while I am not a fan of Cohen’s, I hope he continues to bring down these imbeciles. He goes after the absurd and proves how ridiculous they are. You do not think that any of this is possible, but sadly it is. I am happy he exposing them! Whether they like it or not. It is not his fault that they are dumber than dumb and does what he asked him them to do.
It has been over 10 years since Sacha Baron Cohen has one of his undercover camera shows on the air, but that is all going to change this Sunday at 10p. After some hints over the last week, that something was in the works, Showtime finally confirmed it today.
Not much is known about the interview series, but the 7 episodes have been in production for the last year. David Nevins, President and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc. described it as, “He is the premier provocateur of our time, but not for the sake of ‘gotcha’ moments. Behind the elaborate setup is a genuine quest for the truth about people, places and politics. Nobody knows how to cause a stir like Sacha Baron Cohen, and it’s going to be fascinating to watch what happens when WHO IS AMERICA? is released on the world.”
Cohen interviews everyone from famous politicians to the average Joe to talk about politics. What he finds out will more than definitely get people talking!
Claire Danes was on Today and this morning and Willie Geist had to know if this is the last season of Homeland coming up? She told him, “I’m wondering too actually. There is no conclusive word about that.” Then she added, “It feels like it. It looks like it, but yeah, there’s still some kind of ellipsis. So, we shall see”
She also explained to the anchors that the filming of season 8 is delayed until the beginning of next year because her and her husband, Hugh Dancy, expecting baby #2. Therefore, a lot can happen between now and then.
If season 8 is it for Homeland, will you be all upset? Or like a time bomb going off the clock needs to reach 00:00? See I made a Homeland reference even though I do not watch the critical darling.

On February 26th, Kevin Smith was doing two shows in Glendale and everything seemed normal until it was not. That was because, after the first show, he suffered a near-fatal heart attack. Thanks to pot, he survived and we get to see the first of those two shows that he did that night. Tonight at 9p, that special Silent, But Deadly is going to debut on Showtime and you don’t want to miss the show that almost killed Silent Bob. Since he didn’t die, I can say if he did, then he would have gone out on a high note.
The hour of stand up starts off with him telling us he let his daughter drive by herself for the first time by before he did the show. That is enough to give any parent a heart attack. Thankfully she got to her location OK, but it was scary for her parents.
Now that Harley Quinn is old enough to be on her own, her mom is ready to travel with her dad again. Their first trip is to Spokane and she leaves her husband to do his shows without her. She turns their room into a spa and he finds that out when he comes back to smoke a joint between shows. She tells him, she does not want to hear his storytime, but he tells her anyway. It was about the last time he smoked pot on a balcony and almost got caught by the police.
When it comes to his wife not watching his live shows, she also does not watch the ones he tapes. She has only seen two episodes of Comic Book Men and refused to let him watch it on his 103 inch TV that they have in their bedroom. How he got that TV is a story you do not want to miss.
When it comes to what his wife sees of him, she hates his maroon underwear. One day, while he is away, he surprises her by telling her he got black ones. The two have this great sexting conversation that ends with a text going to the wrong person. Whoops.
Then he goes from talking about sexting to talking about sex with his wife. She learned something about how long it takes her husband to ejaculate. Way too TMI, but funny as all hell.
Now that we are over the sex talk, he tells a great story about feeding the cast of crew of Supergirl when he was directing an episode. He went to A&W Burgers and ordered 20 his first night. The next night he went back for 40, but it was the third night that was the real kicker. That is when he ordered 70 burgers, 40 fries and a small diet root beer for himself. That caused the guy at the drive-thru to laugh out loud.
Now it is time for him to wrap up the show and he gives a powerful speech that anyone can do what he is doing. Not knowing that a few minutes later, he would be fighting for his life.
After he waves goodbye to the audience, the credits start to roll and he shows us the room where he had the heart attack. Like he said, it was not a pretty place to die and thankfully he did not.
I watch a lot of comedy specials and I shut most of them off within a few minutes. This one is one of the few I cannot wait to watch again. Make sure to check it because I promise you will not be dissapointed.
Andrew Dice Clay’s series that is very loosely based on his life is back on Showtime tonight at 10:30p and it actually makes you like the controversial comic because he is so self-deprecating about himself.
On the season premiere of Dice, he meets a rabbi who shows him what life would be like if he never created his alter ego. Everyone but him is better off without the Diceman in their lives. But are the lives of his girlfriend Carmen (Natasha Leggero),his best friend Milkshake (Kevin Corrigan) and David Arquette really better without him? You do not want to miss this episode that shows what Andrew Clay Silverstein would be without comedy.
Then next week, you meet his manager (Cedric Yarbrough) who sucks at his job, and his stalker (Billy Gardell) who has moved on from stalking him. Dice cannot handle not having an obsessed fan and goes too far to prove that he is still stalking him.
On the third episode, Ron Livingston plays a role you have never seen him play before and I want to see him act like that more often. That is all I will say because it is something you need to experience for yourself along with the Tony Orlando performance!
They say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. I am so happy this comedy did not stay there.
