Back on Saved By the Bell, it was all about Zack and Kelly. In real life, it was all about Elizabeth Berkley and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. The actor told Anna Faris on her podcast Unqualified (via People) that the two of them dated.
He explained, “When you’re working on a set, and we were young, there’s no one around really. I mean, you work and live in a bubble.” Because of that, he admitted, “All of us dated at one point or another — it was incestuous!”
It was not all lovey-dovey because he added, “Sometimes the girls would gang up on the guys. [Tiffani Thiessen] and Elizabeth would hate me, and then they’d hate [Lark Voorhies] because Lark was talking to me, and [Mario Lopez] was supposed to side with someone. All that stuff you did in high school, like, ‘How could you talk to him?’”
Not only were they playing high school students, but they were also living life like they were really high school students. Which is why we believed they were actually in high school because they were.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar is going under the knife today for shoulder surgery, and he went for a roll with a Mario Lopez beforehand. Not in the hay, but on a mat. The two Saved By the Bell actors took Jiu-Jitsu and spent an hour and a half rolling around the floor. When they were done, all I could think of is sweating to the oldies when I saw this photo! They don't look their age, but I am sure they are feeling it today.
