Savannah Bananas’ Robert Anthony Cruz was on CNN yesterday to talk about the most talked-about baseball team in the United States. They are unconventional and do things like dance and sing on the field.

Cruz has a little trick he likes to do, and that is a backflip. He has done it thousands of times during their games, so doing it on live TV should not be a problem? Wrong! He didn’t connect with his flip like he normally does, and he crashed down face-first onto the hard floor.

It was not so much the crash that was funny, but rather the sound it made. Even he agrees that the thump made it “10X funnier.”

So, what happened? “When you do a flip, you are looking for the ground while you’re rotating,” he said. “So, I remember jumping back and seeing a bright light in my face, and the floor itself was very light. I kind of just lost where I was in the air and wound up under-rotating, plus my feet slipped. I also got to say my arms were flailing. I have no idea why it was like that.”

Is the coach OK? He had to get several stitches on his lip and under his chin. However, the most painful thing he suffered was that his pride was hurt.

I have no doubt that he will redeem himself over and over again! And if not, he will become a viral sensation all over again. And is that really a bad thing? I don’t think so, but I am a sadist and like to see people in pain.

The All-America Rejects are Savannah Bananas’ dirty little secret
July 7th, 2025 under All-American Rejects, Savannah Bananas. [ Comments: none ]

The Savannah Bananas played at Fenway Park yesterday, and they made the All-American Rejects honorary players for the day.

Tyson Ritter and his bandmates performed a medley of their hits: Move Along, Dirty Little Secret, and Gives You Hell, much to the delight of the packed stadium.

Seeing Ritter do his thing with the best baseball team in the world makes me think he could join the team because he hit it out of the park!

July 2nd, 2025 under Savannah Bananas. [ Comments: none ]

Savanah Bananas is going from all over social media to all over the small screen. The baseball team has already signed on to broadcast games on ESPN and The CW, and today, Roku Channel announced that they will be playing ball with them on July 6th at 3:30p.

The baseball team who are making sports special again will be playing against the Firefighters in Fenway Park.

“We are fired up to be teaming up with Roku on one of the biggest and most exciting games of the year! We can’t wait to bring the fast-paced game of Banana Ball to new fans all over the country on Roku! And you better believe that we’ve got some surprises in store for Fenway!” said Savannah Bananas owner Jesse Cole.

I love that they are finally getting the attention they deserve. They have been bringing me joy for years, and I love that now a wider audience can experience the same happiness as I do. For example, watch Coach RAC and Maceo Harrison recreate Drake & Josh’s dance above!

June 3rd, 2025 under Savannah Bananas, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

The Savanah Bananas have made a name for themselves on social media. And next month, they are going from the smaller screen to the small screen.

The baseball team that live up to their name, in a good way, will make its broadcast TV debut on The CW next month.

“Banana Ball on The CW is a no-brainer,” said Jesse Cole, founder and CEO of the Savannah Bananas. “After seeing their recent commitment to sports, we knew this could be a great partnership. With the speed and entertainment of Banana Ball, we look forward to creating new fans together in the years to come.”

Their first game will air on July 27th, and we will watch them play, dance, and make us enjoy baseball all over again in front of a sold-out crowd in Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park.

If you are unfamiliar with them, you can discover them on all the social media apps. They are just pure joy, and I am so happy they are finally getting the exposure they deserve.

The Savannah Bananas get into the A Minecraft Movie craze
April 17th, 2025 under Savannah Bananas. [ Comments: none ]

Whether you have seen A Minecraft Movie with Jack Black and Jason Momoa, or not, then you know about the Chicken Jockey scene.

However, if you don’t, then it is when a Zombie baby jumps on the back of a chicken to fight Black and Momoa. When that happens, the movie’s audience goes crazy and starts to throw popcorn at the screen.

Well, the other day, when the Savannah Bananas were playing the Party Animals, a human dressed as a chicken walked onto the field.

Why? He walked over the mound, and then DR Meadows walked over from centerfield and jumped on the chicken’s shoulders, so that they could recreate Chicken Jockey!

As awesome as it was to watch, the announcers’ reaction made it a million times better, especially when they told the crowd to throw their popcorn at them. Although technically, shouldn’t they have been throwing Cracker Jacks? Do they still sell Cracker Jacks at baseball games?

The Savannah Bananas are coming to ESPN and Hulu on April 26th.
