Steve Martin turns down playing VP candidate Tim Walz on SNL
August 7th, 2024 under Saturday Night Live, Steve Martin. [ Comments: none ]

Saturday Night Live asked Maya Rudolph to play Presidential candidate Kamala Harris until the election. Now they need someone to play her Vice Presidential choice, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Well, people think that Steve Martin would be the perfect choice, so much so that Lorne Michaels asked him if he wanted to do it.

Not only did the head of SNL but so did The LA Times. So what did Martin tell Michaels, “I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy.’ I was picked because I have gray hair and glasses.”

The comedian added, “It’s not like you do it once and get applause and never do it again. Again, they need a real impressionist to do that. They’re going to find somebody really, really good. I’d be struggling.”

So, who do you think SNL should get to play the role? I think Jason Alexander would be great!

SNL loses two Not Ready for Prime Time Players
August 2nd, 2024 under Saturday Night Live. [ Comments: none ]

Saturday Night Live is going into its 50th season next month. However, not every one of the current Not Ready for Prime Time Players will be back to enjoy.

Yesterday, Punkie Johnson announced that she is not returning for her fifth season.

Today, Molly Kearney revealed she is also not returning. “Yall that’s a wrap on my time on SNL,” she wrote. “Reflecting on the amazing 2 seasons I got on this show, it was such a dream come true. So incredibly grateful for this period in my life. So much love to all my big hearted buddies behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week. So many bald caps, so little time. It was a true honor to work with such a talented group of writers and DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CAST.”

Are you going to miss them?

I am sure there will be more. Who do you think will be next?

Maya Rudolph returns to SNL as Kamala Harris through the election
July 31st, 2024 under Saturday Night Live. [ Comments: none ]

Maya Rudolph won an Emmy for playing Vice President Kamala Harris. And now, many of us are wishing and hoping that the VP will win the Presidential election in November.

But before we get to November 5th, there are going to be several Saturday Night Live episodes, so Lorne Michaels has asked Rudolph to reprise her role. And she said yes!

However, her acceptance of the role came at a price. According to Deadline, production has been halted on the third season of the actress’ heartfelt hilarious sitcom Loot on Apple TV+.

I get why she chose to do it. But I think it is fucked up that they had to halt production, which was slated to start in August, on the show because she committed to do so that she could do SNL. Hollywood is hurting due to the strikes. So, the people who work on the show probably depended on that money, and now they are not going to get it until at least late November, if not 2025. I hope she donates her paycheck to them because every little helps.

Colin Jost gets Michael Che in a beef with Kendrick Lamar
May 19th, 2024 under Saturday Night Live. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday was the season finale of Saturday Night Live. That means it was time for Michael Che and Colin Jost to write jokes for the other one.

How did it go? Scarlet Johansson was the target of one of the jokes for her husband, but she won’t be as upset as Rabbi Jill was sitting next to him as he told Jew jokes.

As bad as they were, Che is in trouble with Kendrick Lamar. The Rapper just got over his feud with Drake, and now he is in a fight with the Weekend Update co-host. I can’t wait to hear that diss track.

Which diss did you think was the worst or best, depending on how you look at it?

Justin Timberlake will be SNL’s musical guest
January 19th, 2024 under Justin Timberlake, Saturday Night Live. [ Comments: none ]

After Britney Spears released her autobiography, where she claimed that Justin Timberlake convinced her to abort their baby, he has been persona non grata by her friends.

Because of that, we haven’t heard much from him since then. And now it looks like he is coming out of hiding.

Today, Saturday Night Live announced that he will be the musical guest on January 27th.

Are we ready to forgive him like most did after the Janet Jackson fiasco? We shall see.
