A Conners’ surprise!
November 20th, 2018 under Roseanne. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 8p on ABC, Becky (Lecy Goranson) has a big announcement that will take everyone by surprise. Will the family support her or will they bring her down to reality? It is The Conners, what do you think?

Darlene (Sara Gilbert) has a new boyfriend (Justin Long) who is a lot like David in a certain way. Her family cannot wait to share that tidbit with her. When dating does not go her way, will applying a new job do just that?

Tonight’s episode was actually very old school Roseanne. Hopefully, we will get more like them.

The Conners continues with serious storylines
October 23rd, 2018 under Roseanne. [ Comments: none ]

Now that The Conners killed off Roseanne, it is time to focus on the rest of the family. Tonight at 8p on ABC, David (Johnny Galecki) is back and he is not alone. He brought his girlfriend Blue (Juliette Lewis) with him and Darlene (Sara Gilbert) cannot stand her. Then when Blue lets Harris (Emma Kenney) do something shocking, Darlene loses it with her. Will Blue be left black and blue?

Then Becky (Lecy Goranson) wants to work for her dad (John Goodman), and he does not think she would be a good fit. When she shows up drunk, he definitely does not want he there. Will she be able to stop drinking for the job?

I just wish they would bring the humor back and make it a family show again because that is what they have been missing since its return last season.

Roseanne says her character’s death made The Conners ‘grim and morbid’
October 17th, 2018 under Roseanne. [ Comments: none ]

Last night we finally found out how The Conners killed off Roseanne and needless to say she did not like it. First she took to Twitter and declared, “I AIN’T DEAD, BITCHES!!!!”

Then she wrote a long post on Facebook with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. She started it off with, “While we wish the very best for the cast and production crew of The Conners, all of whom are deeply dedicated to their craft and were Roseanne’s cherished colleagues, we regret that ABC chose to cancel Roseanne by killing off the Roseanne Conner character. That it was done through an opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show.”

She then says that Roseanne was the only show that was healing the divide in this country. Of the shows that show both sides of the political spectrum, it is the weakest. The Carmichael Show, Superior Donuts and Last Man Standing all did/do a better job showing both sides of hot topic issues.

When it comes to The Conners, just like Roseanne last season, it is not as good as the original run. To me, the chemistry is not as strong. The actors seem to deliver their lines like punchlines instead of letting them flow naturally. They also don’t feel like lower class family in middle America like they did 30 years ago. That is why we liked it so much.

Having said all of that, will I watch? Yes. Will others, that I am not so sure of. Why watch a show that is nowhere near as good as the original, when you can just watch the original on several other networks.

When it comes to how they killed her off. If she did not like the opioid storyline, then why was it part of almost every episode last season. The writing was on the wall, they just had to put it down on paper. And they did. You can’t fault them and it was obvious from day one of her firing that was how they could get rid of her character.

John Goodman cannot thank Roseanne enough
October 9th, 2018 under Jimmy Kimmel, John Goodman, Roseanne. [ Comments: none ]

John Goodman was on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday and he talked about what it is like working on The Conners without Roseanne. He told the ABC late night host, “It was very weird doing the first show without her.” Then he said that the two of them would laugh together, but there was “always the danger of her peeing herself.”

He also revealed that after Roseanne got cancelled, he just crashed for a couple of weeks, his wife got sick and he fell down the stairs. Bad things come in threes, but then Sara Gilbert and producer Mark Werner were able to get them to do The Conners.

In order for that to happen, Roseanne had to give up a lot. Goodman said he cannot thank her enough for giving all of that up so that they can continue doing the show that is not the same without her.

Next Tuesday, we will see just how different it is without her. Are you going to watch?

Does this promo make you want to watch The Conners?
October 2nd, 2018 under Roseanne. [ Comments: none ]

We are two weeks away from the series premiere of The Conners, so ABC released the first promo for the Roseanne spinoff without Roseanne.

The good news is they realized that they need to use Laurie Metcalf more. The bad news is that they still do not know what to do with Jackie. Actually, it looks likes a ’90s sitcom that aired in syndication that is not good enough for broadcast.

I would be more optimistic if the last season of Roseanne was better, but it was awful. It got worse with each episode. Therefore, The Conners should be even worse.
