The first Bridget Jones movie was a big hit with fans, as was the second one. The third was not so much. Therefore, you think they would have stopped there. But they did not.
On February 13th, we are getting Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy on Peacock. And they are killing off the best part of the franchise, the love story between Bridget (Renne Zellwegger) and Mark (Colin Firth). They literally killed off Mark.
In Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Bridget is alone once again, widowed four years ago, when Mark (Oscar® winner Colin Firth) was killed on a humanitarian mission in the Sudan. She’s now a single mother to 9-year-old Billy and 4-year-old Mabel, and is stuck in a state of emotional limbo, raising her children with help from her loyal friends and even her former lover, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant).
Pressured by her Urban Family —Shazzer, Jude and Tom, her work colleague Miranda, her mother, and her gynecologist Dr. Rawlings (Oscar® winner Emma Thompson) — to forge a new path toward life and love, Bridget goes back to work and even tries out the dating apps, where she’s soon pursued by a dreamy and enthusiastic younger man (White Lotus’s Leo Woodall). Now juggling work, home and romance, Bridget grapples with the judgment of the perfect mums at school, worries about Billy as he struggles with the absence of his father, and engages in a series of awkward interactions with her son’s rational-to-a-fault science teacher (Oscar® nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor).
When I heard about the film, I was like, “Do we need this?” After watching this trailer, I know we didn’t.
On a positive note, it is the final movie in Bridget’s diary.
Before Renee Zellweggeer was a murderer in The Thing About Pam, her sister was one in Murder in the Heartland. She looks the same now as 23 in that 1993 movie.
Tonight at 10p on NBC, Dateline’s investigation into Pam Hupp comes to life with Renee Zellwegger in The Thing About Pam.
Betsy Faria is found dead, and her husband is accused of her murder. Russ (Glenn Fleshler) discovered his wife’s body and has a history of abusing her. Therefore, the prosecutor (Judy Greer) thinks she has an open and shut case. Especially because Pam Hupp (Zellwegger), who was the last person to see her alive, keeps giving Askey (Greer) tons of evidence that points his way.
Joel Schwartz (Josh Duhamel) comes to Lincoln County to defend Russ. He has work cut out for him because everyone thinks that Russ did it. That and all the legal people are in cahoots with Askey. Schwartz thinks Pam did it. But again, he keeps hitting roadblocks.
In each episode, you will get to see how the case is being built against Russ and Pam at the same time. Who will be guilty of the crime?
The first episode is slow because they have to give you the history. But every episode after that picks up the pace, and you are going to want to know what happens next. People were glued to the podcast, and they are going to be glued to this limited series. So tune in tonight for a murder mystery based on an actual crime.
You know it has to be good if an Oscar winner asks to play the lead role on television.
In order for Renee Zellwegger to become Judy Garland, she had to wear a prosthetic nose and that made her kissing scenes awkward.
As we know kissing is naturally awkward enough because noses get in the way. However, it proved to be even more a problem for the actress. She explained to Michael Strahan on Good Morning America today why “I didn’t know this but the prosthetic seems to takes on a life of its own once it’s on there. The glue, mixed with, I guess, your skin’s trying to breathe desperately, it kind of becomes liquified. You know, and it is trying to find a place to go. It is looking for a way to get out.” Then she added, “Sometimes it would be on Finn Wittrock’s face.”
Can you blame the nose, I would rather be on his face too.
Am I the only who never noticed what a thick Southern drawl she had until this interview. Was it always there or is it something new?
The first trailer is out for Judy with Renee Zellweger as the legendary Judy Garland. You can’t really tell if she is believable or not because it is just a montage of quick moments from the whole film that comes out on September 27th.
Look, I was never going to believe she was the icon. Even what little we saw, I still saw Zellweger’s facial twerks. I saw Bridget Jones more than I did Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. It is why I hate when they cast well-known actors to play well-known people. You can’t separate the two or I at least I can’t. Can you?
