The Traitors is the most buzzed about new reality show in a really long time. Its numbers are so big on Peacock that it was the #1 unscripted series in the U.S. across all streaming platforms during its second season premiere week in January, according to Nielsen.
Not only that, it also won an Emmy for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program at the Primetime Emmy Awards for its first season.
So, with all of that being said. It should be no surprise that Peacock announced today that it picked up the series for a third season, and Alan Cumming will be back to host The Traitors and the Faithfuls at the Scottish castle.
The Traitors is a nail-biting psychological adventure in which treachery and deceit are the name of the game. Entertainment’s most competitive reality stars and famous faces play the ultimate murder mystery game. Hosted by award-winning actor Alan Cumming at an ancient castle set deep in the Scottish Highlands, contestants work together on a series of exhilarating missions to build a prize fund worth up to $250,000. Hidden amongst the Faithful are the Traitors, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithful and claim the prize for themselves. Under the cover of darkness, the Traitors murder the Faithful one by one in a treacherous spree, while the Faithful try to uncover the Traitors and banish them from the game. If the Faithful contestants banish all the Traitors, they will share the prize fund, but if a Traitor or Traitors makes it to the end, they will steal all the money.
If you haven’t been watching, then you can catch the first season and half of this one on Peacock. And then, when you are done, make sure to stream The Traitors in Australia and The UK. The latter one is so good! I can’t wait until their second season starts streaming on our side of the pond.
Tonight at 9p on Peacock, The Traitors pick up with the traitors meeting up. Phaedra confronts Parvati for calling out the Housewives during the Banishment ceremony, and she feels that puts a bullseye on her back. Can these two work together again after that?
Whether they can or not, they still have to pick someone to kill. Who will they agree on? And how will the Faithfuls feel when the murdered person doesn’t show up for breakfast?
And all of the players shouldn’t take that person’s chair away too quickly because Kate from season one is back, and all she wants to do is cause trouble. She wastes no time in doing that. How will everyone react to her?
You are just going to have to see in the wildest Banishment ceremony to date.
This show gets increasingly more conniving with each episode, and that is why we love it so much.
Over on The CW at 8p, Son of a Critch is back for its third season, and Mark (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) has gone through some changes. He (the actor) has hit puberty. Therefore, he has grown a few inches, and his voice is a lot deeper.
And that is a good thing since he is in grade 9, and he should not be messed with since it is his final year of middle school. Will he finally be the bully, or will he still be bullied?
Even though there is a lot of change going on, he still has his two friends, Fox (Sophia Powers) and Ritchie (Mark Rivera), and they are looking forward to being grade niners. Will it be all they hope it will be? It is only the first day of school, so we will have to keep watching this endearing comedy about growing up in Canada in the late ’80s to find out.
Last week, we got to meet the new faithfuls and The Traitors during the three-episode premiere of Peacock.
The 21 contestants are: Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen (Love Island USA), Chris ‘C.T.’ Tamburello (The Challenge), Dan Gheesling (Big Brother), Deontay Wilder (FMR Boxing Heavyweight Champion), Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu (Love Island UK)Janelle Pierzina (Big Brother), Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio (The Challenge), John Bercow (FMR Speaker of the UK House of Commons), Kevin Kreider (Bling Empire), Larsa Pippen (The Real Housewives of Miami), Marcus Jordan (Fashion Entrepreneur), Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Dancing with the Stars), Mercedes “MJ” Javid (Shahs of Sunset), Parvati Shallow (Survivor), Peppermint (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Peter Weber (The Bachelor), Phaedra Parks (Married to Medicine), Sandra Diaz-Twine (Survivor), Shereé Whitfield (The Real Housewives of Atlanta), Tamra Judge (The Real Housewives of Orange County), and Trishelle Cannatella (The Challenge)
During the first three episodes, we sadly got to say goodbye to Johnny Bananas, Peppermint, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Marcus Jordan via banishment or death.
What am I talking about? Basically, 21 people move into a Scottish mansion, and they are given a role. They are either chosen to be a traitor or faithful. If they are selected as a traitor, then they have to hide their identity from all of the faithfuls for the rest of the game.
In each episode, there will be a banishment round, where the contestants eliminate who they think is a traitor. But they are basically guessing. And they are going to guess incorrectly more than correctly.
After the banishment ceremony, the traitors choose to kill someone off. Last week, host Alan Cummings told the traitors they will have to murder someone in plain sight, and that task was given to Traitor Parvati.
When episode 3 ended, she was trying to find someone to drink from her poisonous cup. Tonight at 9p, we will find out who drank from the cup of death.
Will that murder lead to a traitor being banished? I can’t tell you! I can tell you to be prepared for some twists because the producers like to change things up. And that is what keeps this international phenomenon so exciting.
So tune in for an unforgettable funeral that will either leave the contestants with $20,000 more in the pot or with nothing added to it.
But I have said too much, and I don’t want a black rose…
One last thing. I started watching this series two weeks ago, so I was very late to the game.
After I binged the first US season in a day, I immediately did the same with Australia and The UK on Peacock. It is so good, I needed more. And I got it. Now, I am getting a slower fix with the second US season, which will be releasing one episode a week until the season finale. And then, when it is done, we will get the second UK season, which I have read is even better than the first one. And I am going to sound like a bad American, but The UK’s is by the best of the three.
When Seth MacFarlane and I were kids, family sitcoms were so sugary sweet that you got a cavity watching them.
But let’s be honest. Our families were nothing like the Cleavers, the Bradys, or the Huxtables. But then again, Bill Cosby was nothing like Cliff Huxtable, as we now know.
Anyways, the kids of today are getting a sitcom that is more like their home life on January 11th.
Seth MacFarlane is bringing his naughty, trash-talking, pot-smoking, beer-drinking, talking Teddybear Ted to the small screen for a seven-episode event on Peacock.
In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the Bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach), and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.
What more do the fucking kids in America want and need? We are getting a foul-mouthed bear with parents and kids who curse equally as much and do things that we all do. Who needs moms who say gosh and darn when you can have dads who say shit and fuck?
Forget the Keatons. We now have Bennetts to be our role models. I can’t wait to show my nieces this series because they will be like Ted is just like you, Crazy Aunt Stacy!
In 2012, we fell in love with the foul-mouthed, horny, pot-smoking Teddy Bear Ted. And now he is back on Peacock for seven glorious episodes, which are the prequel to the two Seth MacFarlane movies. Yes, folks, MacFarlane will continue to voice his genius creation.
