Aaron Carter was found dead today at the age of 33, according to TMZ.
We could focus on his teenage years and his music career. But his later life was plagued by scandals, drugs, and arrests. He was another child star who never had a normal life and was never able to achieve it.
I think many of us were hoping that he would get the help needed when he had his son, Prince, who turns one this month. However, he lost custody of the baby in September. Even though the singer entered outpatient rehab to regain custody of his son, it was not to save him.
Now, his mother is morning her second child. His older sister, Leslie, passed away in 2012 from a drug overdose.
Leslie Jordan, the little actor who was bigger than life, passed away today at the age of 67. According to KABC, he crashed his car into a building in Hollywood this morning after a suspected medical incident.
“The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan,” read a statement issued by the actor’s representative David Shaul to George Pennacchio. “Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”
Jordan had a long career that started in 1986. But it took 15 years for people to realize how brilliant he was. That is when he landed the role of Beverly Leslie, Karen Walker’s archnemesis, on Will & Grace, and he finally got the stardom he deserved.
I would discover him four years later on Boston Legal as a man who went around killing people by hitting them over the head with a frying pan. He met his demise that way when Betty White did that to him.
I will never forget that scene or his many, many, many other show-stealing scenes on American Horror Story, The Cool Kids, and Call Me Kat, to name a few.
Since his death was so sudden, we don’t know what the future will be for Fox’s show Call Me Kat. But I think they will opt to end the series due to his passing.
UPDATE: According to Variety, Call Me Kat will be taking a production pause to deal with Jordan’s death. I would not be surprised if the series did not come back or they will do one last episode to say goodbye to Jordan as a tribute.
So today, let’s watch Jordan doing what he did best, making us laugh. This way, our laughter will lift him up to heaven.
There is one thing I want to say about his passing. During the pandemic, I saw him post a video dancing to Blanco Brown’s The Git Up. I mentioned Brown in the comments, and I like to think I had a part in this, and the two became friends. Last week, they shot something together with Locash.
Today, one of the last things that Jordan did was like an Instagram post by Brown. Just think, one minute, you are scrolling through Instagram, and the next minute you are gone. When it is your time, it is your time.
Angela Lansbury passed away this morning, according to publicist Harlan Boll.
“I am devastated beyond words – 💔😢💔,” he wrote. “The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30am, today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday. In addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre, and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, plus five great grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Peter Shaw. A private family ceremony will be held at a date to be determined.”
Even though we associate the actress with her latter roles in Murder, She Wrote, and Beauty and the Beast, her acting career started back in the 40s and lasted until this year.
She was the star of the stage and screen and will be remembered as a beautiful, classy lady. No matter what she did, she always classed up the joint.
There is just one thing I have to say about Murder, She Wrote, which I binged a few years ago at a friend’s rightful urging. I never understood why people would invite her anywhere. Because wherever she went, someone died. I mean, if I got a phone call that Jessica Fletcher was coming to town, I would skip it faster than you can say her name.
Now having said that, I still adored her and the series, and I know I am not alone because the series has a cult following.
So, today we mourn her because her book is complete. But she will live on as we tell her story by watching the many, many, many projects she did throughout her nearly 80-year-long career.
UPDATE: Cozi TV is going to honor her with a 4-day maraton of Murder, She Wrote this week. That is a lot of episodes.
Olivia Newton-John lost her battle with breast cancer today according to her husband. “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.
“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund (ONJFoundationFund.org).
“Olivia is survived by her husband John Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.”
Newton-John was basically an unknown actress and singer at the start of 1978, but by the end of the year, everyone knew her name and fell in love with her thanks to a little musical called Grease. She captured our hearts as Sandy, and we have remained hopelessly devoted to her ever since.
Along the way, she told us to get Physical, and we did. Granted, not in the way the video intended. She also sang about Magic, Twist of Fate, and Xanadu.
The latter might not have been a highlight of her career, but the movie was what it was. And she made it special. The beloved actress made everything she did special.
Back in 1992, Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. She successfully beat it and remained in remission for 25 years. It seems like she beat it again. But then, five years later, it returned, and it was stage 4. She tried several holistic treatments that helped. But sadly, it finally won.
There are three ways we can honor her today. We can watch her movies and TV appearances, listen to her music, and by donating to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation, which offers natural ways to fight breast cancer.
