Cindy Williams passed away today at the age of 75 after a short illness, according to The AP.
Emily and Zak Hudson, her children with ex-Bill Hudson, released this statement, “The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed. Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved. We have always been, and will remain, SO proud of her for many things…her lifelong mission to rescue animals, her prolific artistry, her faith, and most of all, her ability to make the world laugh! May that laughter continue in everyone, because she would want that. Thank you for loving our Mom, she loved you too.”
Even though Williams worked nonstop from the early ’70s, her most famous role was the sweet Shirley Feeney on Laverne & Shirley. Sometimes you have one role that will live on in infamy, and that was the case with her. But it is a part that lives on in the hearts of so many.
So today, let’s watch her make us laugh and let our laughter guide her up to heaven.
Adam Rich passed away yesterday at the age of 54, according to TMZ.
The actor is best known for being America’s little brother thanks to his role as Nicolas Bradford, the youngest child on Eight is Enough in the late ’70s. Boys all over the US had his page boy haircut because parents wanted their kids to be as cute as he was. Heck, I was totally crushing on him when I was in my single digits.
He continued to act throughout the ’80s, but then he suffered from mental illness and addiction.
Rich was very open about his mental illness. He was trying to change the way we look at people who suffer from it and how we treat them. I wish we could’ve done more for him. Maybe that is what his legacy will be. Accepting people with mental illness and treating them like we would treat anyone else with illness and not like they are lepers.
Today, I am honoring him by rewatching his second series Code Red on Crackle. And I am also honoring him by offering to be here for you if you need to talk. If not me, then please call 988.
Twitch, aka Stephen Boss, passed away from an apparent suicide at the age of 40. TMZ says he was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a LA hotel yesterday morning.
Twitch, who competed on So You Think You Can Dance and was a DJ and EP on Ellen, left behind a wife of 9 years, Allison Holker, and three children, Weslie Renae, 14, Maddox Laurel, 6, and Zaia, 3.
If you need help, please reach out to someone or call 988. You cannot take back a suicide.
Depression is a destructive illness, but there is help available. You might not see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it is out there, and things can only get better.
So please seek help because three kids are missing out on their dad being a big part of their lives. He will not go to their dance competitions, their graduations, their weddings, and so much more. He will look over them, but he will not be there in person to enjoy it with them.
Christine McVie, the songbird of Fleetwood Mac, passed away today at the age of 79 from a short illness according to her family.
“There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie,” the statement reads. “She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”
McVie started playing the piano at 4 but did not start perfecting it until she was 11. Then music became her life. She joined her first band, Chicken Shack, in her mid-’20s, but her life changed when she became a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1970.
Through the band, she had several hits, including, Don’t Stop, Over My Head, Hold Me, and so much more.
Her raspy voice and poignant lyrics drew everyone to her. So today, let’s belt out her tunes and let our voices rise her up to heaven.
Irene Cara passed away at the age of 63, according to a statement written by her publicist.
Irene Cara started off the 1980s telling us to remember her name, and we did. Even though she retired at an early age, we never forgot her name, her music, or her roles.
Before she had Fame at the age of 20, she spent the ’70s on Broadway, on Electric Company, and in Sparkle, along with so much more. But then came Fame, followed up a few years later with even more of it when she sang the theme song to Flashdance, What a Feeling. And what a feeling she had when she won the Oscar and a Grammy for the emotional rollercoaster of a single.
Those are just two of the many, many, many songs she released throughout her career. Songs that make you want to get up and dance, or they make you want to cry. If you tried to sing along with her, you would have to be prepared to belt out the tune. However, you could never come close to singing as beautifully as she did. Ask Mariah Carey.
To this day, I will never understand why no one asked her and Kenny Loggins to do a duet for a movie in the ’80s because they were the King and Queen of that era and genre.
So today, we say “Long live the Queen” by singing her music and watching her movies. Let her hear our voices as she makes her way up to heaven.
I can never thank her enough for all the amazing music she blessed us with throughout her life that was cut way too short.
