NBC really loves 30 Rock
December 1st, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Following an encouraging perfomance Thursday night, NBC has picked up a full season of the Lorne Michaels laffer "30 Rock." Skein, which stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, was the last remaining Peacock bubble skein. While NBC brass liked the show creatively, execs wanted to see how it performed last night in its new 9:30 Thursday timeslot behind "Scrubs." Prelim Nielsen numbers have "Rock" scoring its best adults 18-49 rating yet, up 25 % from its week-ago numbers.

NBC replaces both Studio 60 and Las Vegas in March with crappy shows.
November 30th, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

New light has been shed on NBC’s midseason slate, unveiled Wednesday afternoon. Variety reports that The Black Donnellys and Raines will land on Monday and Friday, replacing Studio 60 and Las Vegas, respectively, when they (finally) premiere in early March. At that time, Studio 60 will have four episodes remaining in the can, though it is not certain when they will air. Also, the Season 2 bow of America’s Got Talent has been bumped from January to summer. (That one was keeping me awake last night, yep.)

I don’t know if they are crappy, but chances are they are. Hopefully Studio 60 will come back for May sweeps and not be banished to the net.

NBC announces it new lineup
November 29th, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" is staying put on Monday nights, while the Donald is about to do battle with the "Desperate Housewives." NBC has also drafted its 2007 recruits in the annual battle against "American Idol": "Deal or No Deal" and "Dateline NBC." Those are the key moves in Peacock’s midseason sked, which the net confirmed Wednesday after weeks of speculation. Despite buzz that "Studio 60" would get a new timeslot, skein’s stable ratings in the Monday timeslot convinced execs to leave the Aaron Sorkin skein exactly where it is. Rest of NBC’s Monday sked — "Deal or No Deal" and "Heroes" — remains stet. As for Donald Trump’s "The Apprentice," skein will begin its new LA-based cycle in a new timeslot: 9 p.m. Sundays. "Crossing Jordan" will follow at 10 p.m., while "Grease: You’re the One That I Want" will, as previously announced, air at 8 p.m. Sundays. While "Studio 60" won’t switch timeslots in January, the critic-friendly "Friday Night Lights" is shifting from Tuesdays to Wednesday nights in January. It’ll still air at 8 p.m. "Dateline NBC" will replace "FNL" on Tuesdays, squaring off against "Idol." Peacock’s two-hour "Law & Order" block remains from 9-11 p.m. Moves largely protect "FNL" from the "Idol" juggernaut, though it’ll still get nicked on nights Fox decides to expand the "Idol" results show. NBC’s second weekly edition of "Deal or No Deal" will fly right into the eye of Hurricane Idol, airing Wednesdays at 9. "Medium" continues to air at 10 p.m. Peacock is leaving Thursday and Friday nights largely untouched, while Saturday remains in repeats. Net will announce premiere dates and slots for new dramas "The Black Donnellys" and "Raines" later.

Variety

I still think they would be better off switching Studio 60 and Medium and not sure FNL will benefit with it’s new timeslot because it will still be up against the two hour Wednesdays Idol. But the positive thing is they are killing Trump by putting his bad hair against DH!!!

NBC orders 3 more 30 Rock scripts…why?
November 22nd, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

NBC has ordered three additional scripts of freshman comedy "30 Rock," which got off to a lackluster start despite critical praise. The order follows a three-script pickup the show received last month, bringing the total to six additional scripts. Created by and starring Tina Fey, "30 Rock" is set behind the scenes of a late-night sketch comedy show. Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski co-star. It was moved from Wednesday to Thursday last week and averaged just 5.2 million viewers for a 40-minute episode. "30 Rock" is one of three Nielsen-challenged new NBC series that received an order for three more scripts last month. The other two, the dramas "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Friday Night Lights," have since been picked up for a full season. Meanwhile, "30 Rock" and ABC’s drama "The Nine" are the only two freshman series whose fate is still up in the air. "Nine," which was a given an order for four additional scripts last month, is struggling in the Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot and looks unlikely to continue beyond its original order.

I couldn’t get through the pilot and I heard it got worse from there.

NBC’s FNL to become Sunday Night Lights?
November 14th, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

According to Reuters, in the wake of the news that the critically hailed Friday Night Lights has been picked up for a full season, there is talk that as part of a January ‘07, American Idol-induced revamping of its prime-time schedule, NBC might relocate the freshman drama to a Sunday berth. New series still awaiting decisions on their ultimate fate, each expected by week’s end: Fox’s Standoff, and ABC’s Six Degrees and The Nine.

TV Guide

I think Sundays would good be a good day for FNL, I just hope it finds the audience it needs to survive. I really hope Standoff gets the pick-up! Although the lead actress annoys me, two words Ron Livingston!!!
