| "Flags of Our Fathers" thesp Adam Beach is joining the cast of "Law & Order: SVU." Beach, who had a guest turn as Brooklyn detective Chester Lake on an episode of the skein that aired Tuesday, is in final talks to become a series regular. He’s expected to return later this season. "SVU" creator Dick Wolf first worked with Beach on "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," the HBO telepic Wolf produced. Beach has the lead role in the project, which is expected to debut in May and is already being considered one of the paybox’s key longform Emmy contenders.

Sounds like they are preparing for a change, don’t you think?

Now we know why The Office was renewed so early? |

| NBC Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly pulled a Moonves Thursday night. With no advance fanfare, Reilly briefly popped up in this week’s episode of the Peacock’s hit laffer "The Office." Reilly–whose cameo featured no lines and lasted about three seconds– played a prospective boss interviewing Dwight Schruth (Rainn Wilson) for a job. "Office" creator Greg Daniels, who directed Thursday’s seg, invited Reilly on the show last fall. Seg was filmed a couple months ago and hit the air with little advance fanfare. It’s no surprise Daniels would ask Reilly to appear. Peacock exec has been one of the show’s fiercest sup-porters, fighting to keep it on the air after its first batch of episodes barely registered in the ratings.
Variety
Maybe Days of our Lives should ask him to do a cameo too?

How will Donald Trump Deal or no Deal with his new timeslot? |

NBC has reworked its schedule yet again…
Deal or No Deal has not been able to compete with American Idol on Wednesdays, so NBC is moving it to 9p on Sundays. The Apprentice will move from 9p to 10p taking over Crossing Jordan's slot and Jordan will move to Wednesdays at 9p.
I think those changes mean the news for renewals for both The Apprentice and Crossing Jordan is not looking too good. What will Donald Trump do?

NBC pulls Studio 60 a week earlier for Black Donnellys |

NBC is pushing up the premiere date for "The Black Donnellys" — and pulling "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" off the air a week earlier than planned. "Donnellys," which was set to bow March 5, will now sign on Monday, Feb. 26, at 10 p.m. Move gives "Donnellys" an extra week on the air with a firstrun "Heroes" lead-in. "Heroes" is set to go into repeats after its March 5 episode. Premiere date change was announced Tuesday afternoon, hours after Nielsen confirmed that "Studio 60" — the current occupant of the post-"Heroes" timeslot — dropped to its lowest ratings yet. NBC hasn’t yet said when it plans to bring back "Studio 60" for its final run of season one segs. Decision to yank "Studio 60" a week early will no doubt raise a new round of questions about the show’s long-term fate. Insiders said the net still hasn’t decided what to do with the show and that the sked change is mostly about giving "Donnellys" the best possible launch.
Variety
Maybe I am biased because I really like Studio 60, but The Black Donnellys looks absolutely awful. Every commercial I see, I am like why tf I would watch this show? Can somebody tell me why Jeff Zucker was promoted?

Is Law & Order ripping Andrienne Shelly’s murder from the headlines? |
| January 12th, 2007 under Dick Wolf, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Here’s one real-life tragedy that did not need to be "ripped from the headlines." The story of slain actress Adrienne Shelly – an independent film star who once appeared as a guest star on an episode of "Law & Order" in 2000 – will be fictionalized in an upcoming, sources said yesterday. Shelly was beaten to death and hanged from a shower rod in her Greenwich Village apartment last Nov. 1, allegedly by an illegal-immigrant construction worker with whom she had argued. Now the NBC drama has put out a casting announcement seeking a Hispanic man to play a murderer who kills a woman after a dispute. The casting notice calls for a male Hispanic between the ages of 19 to 24 to play an illegal immigrant named José Contreras who argues with a Manhattan woman named Erin Garrett. She falls, hits her head and is knocked unconscious. Thinking he may have killed her, Contreras tries to cover up the incident by making it look like the woman hanged herself – and actually murders her in the process. Given the drama’s rapid-fire production schedule, the episode, called "The Melting Pot," could hit the air as early as next month. The actor would play a character modeled after Diego Pillco, an Ecuadorean national who had been doing work inside an apartment below Shelly’s at 15 Abingdon Square. In real life, Pillco is accused of having killed Shelly, 40, moments after a heated argument over noise and after she had called him a "son of a bitch." Police said he confessed to killing Shelly and making it appear as if she had hanged herself in her bathroom. NBC officials defended the show as fiction, and declined to offer more details. Shelly’s last film, "Waitress," is scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this month.

I wonder when SVU is going to do the episode about the singer who gets photographed without underwear and they are called in to investigate her rape.
