Naked Vegas uses the body as a canvas and Doomsday Preppers are prepping!
October 29th, 2013 under National Geographic, Syfy. [ Comments: none ]

At 10p, Syfy takes it all off for Naked Vegas and then covers it back up with paint, body paint that is! The reality show documents the company called Naked Vegas that uses body paint to dress people up. On tonight’s season premiere they put lingerie on models and dress a bride and groom up as Zombies along with their wedding party. Imagine seeing a bride wearing body paint from head to toe walking down the aisle. It is as breathtaking as you expect it to be.
So tune in for a show that is unlike anything you can watch on television. In addition, it has the word naked in the title!

A few weeks ago the Government shut down for two weeks and several Doomsday Preppers have been prepping for that exact moment. Tonight at 9p on NatGeo, you will see one guy prep for just that type of scenario. He will force his daughter to learn what to do when America suffers from a financial collapse and he will wind up injuring her. So much so, they rush her to the doctor.
Prepping can be a dangerous thing, but it can also prepare you for the unforeseeable. Another family in Alaska is preparing for a Tsunami, but a wildfire interrupts their plans. Will all their hard work be for nothing or are they prepared unlike everyone else who is in the fire’s path?
You have to watch to find out and to learn some things you can do to prep for a disaster. Let’s be real, it can happen anywhere at any time because it was a year ago that Sandy struck the Northeast.

What would happen during the American Blackout?
October 27th, 2013 under National Geographic. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p National Geographic Channel asks what would happen if all the power went out in the continental United States for 10 long grueling days. During the 2 hour movie you will follow several people as they document what happens throughout the US during the American Blackout.
At first things start off normally after the cyber attack, but as the days go on things get worse and worse. Stores are gouging people for necessities like water and food. Houses are burning down because there are too many of them and not enough firefighters. In fact there are so many people that are stuck in elevators that some of them will spend the whole time in there until the power is turned back on. The people that were neighborly at the beginning of the blackout, now believe in each man for himself. People will do anything to get what they need and that means kill for it.
As the time goes on camps are opened so people who have lost everything have a place to stay. It is also there where people who lost their loved ones will try to reconnect with them. Something that was not possible because the phones have been down.
When the power comes back things slowly return to normal, well as normal as they can after everything they went through.
The biggest take away from American Blackout is that we all need to prepare for it because a disaster can strike at any moment without us knowing. That and you will be sleeping with the lights on for a few nights.

Rob Lowe looks very Presidential!
June 12th, 2013 under Brat Pack, National Geographic, Rob Lowe. [ Comments: none ]

(Photo by Kent Eanes/National Geographic Channel)

On November 22, 1963 President John F Kennedy was assassinated, and 50 years later Rob Lowe will be playing 35th President in NatGeo’s Killing Kennedy. The first photo of him in the role of a lifetime was released today, and he looks the part. So much so that if his friend JFK, Jr. was alive today, he would be proud of Lowe.
The two hour movie, that’s set to air in November, is based on Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard’s book Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot.

You will love watching Fish Tank Kings on the aquarium tube!
June 1st, 2013 under National Geographic. [ Comments: none ]

If you have ever been somewhere and been wowed by a fish tank, then you are going to be floored by Fish Tanks Kings on Nat Geo Wild tonight at 9p. Each week the people from Living Color will convert objects like a rusty VW Bus into a gorgeous colorful aquarium. You will watch them make these aquatic homes from scratch. You will see them tear apart objects to fit in the aquariums and then build them back up to be able to hold one. But what is the point of creating one if you don’t have any fish to put inside of it. We will see them go into the waters near Fort Lauderdale and catch the new residence of these fish condos. And every aquarium needs coral, they make that there too.
If you think watching fish swim in an fish tank is cool, watching that aquarium be made is even cooler. So tune in each week to watch the second season of Fish Tank Kings on Nat Geo Wild!

Doomsday Preppers will have you prepping for the end of the world
November 13th, 2012 under National Geographic. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p Doomsday Preppers is back on Nat Geo for a second season with two back to back episodes and I don’t know what scared me more, all of these calamities that they are prepping for or how fanatical they are about it. People all over the country are preparing themselves for things like a nuclear war, the return of Smallpox, a global financial collapse and an F-5 tornado to name a few catastrophes. They have built bunkers, started using their sh!t as a fertilizer, stocked up water and food, training themselves for attack and so on. I mean they seriously go all out to protect themselves against something that will most likely never happen. I have lived in Miami that has seen its fair share of hurricanes, Atlanta that has been hit by tons of tornadoes and LA that in known for earthquakes; and never once did I ever prepare for my environment. I think I have had (please stay in the past tense) a better chance of seeing a devastating disaster than these people, yet they are more prepared for it then I am and you probably are.
Now even though I think they are crazy, it did make me think that I need to get a plan in motion. Because even though I have a big cat, I am not sure how many days I could eat her before I ran out of food. I kid, she would eat me before I ate her.
But seriously Doomsday Preppers will really make you think. Especially when they evaluate all of these people after each of their segments. In the 6 (3 an ep) that air tonight, none of them would last longer than a year with all of the years they have been putting into their effort. But then again if they evaluated us, I bet we wouldn’t make it past a week.
Now I can’t not talk about the Preppers themselves. There is/are a single man, families, couples and even a 15 year old kid. Yes, there is a teenager who is so afraid of the world going to sh!t, he is bunkering up for it and he basically tells his mom he wouldn’t take her with him. Then there are the parents who are teaching their kids, one as young as four to shoot a gun just in case. Seriously? But there is some humor in tonight’s episodes when one of the couples tells the producers that since they shot the show, her husband and her are going through a messy divorce. In fact things are so ugly they are suing over who gets custody of the prepping stuff. Maybe they should’ve prepped for that instead? You have to tune in for the two episodes to see if you can figure out which couple it is.
And you have to tune in for a series that makes you think, am I prepared? As we all learned a few weeks ago, a lot of people were not prepared for Hurricane Sandy. You never know when a disaster is going to strike, so we need to have the necessary items to get through what may come. We need a happy medium between the Doomsday Preppers and what we are doing now and watching the show will get us there.
