Luke Bryan was given the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Baseball All-Star game. So today you would think that everyone would be saying how great his rendition was, but all people are talking about is how he wrote some of the lyrics on his hand. The singer took to Twitter to explain himself by saying, “Morning everyone. I really wanna explain the national anthem performance from last night. I had a few keys words written down to insure myself that I wouldn’t mess up. I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart. If I offended anyone with my approach I sincerely apologize. Anytime I sing the anthem it is an honor and my heart beats out of my chest. I did check my watch because I knew the stealth bomber would fly over 2 minutes in and I knew a started a little late. Being a part of the all star game was amazing and I look forward to the next time I can perform the anthem. Thanks y’all. Love ya”
You know what, I don’t think he did anything wrong. How many of you know every word of that song off the top of your head. Now imagine doing it all by yourself with millions of people watching. You would do the same thing that he did to make sure you get every word right. I am surprised more people who are given that opportunity don’t do the same thing. If I did it I would need a huge teleprompter with every word listed to make sure I don’t screw it up. And I bet you I would still miss a word or two.
Now when it comes to Bryan, I am not a fan of his for being real and not taking such an honor for granted.
XOXO DQ!!!
Garbage was performing in Atlantic City the other night and Shirley Manson had to stop the show not once, but twice. The first time she did it was when an uber-fan was kicked out for being a “silly girl” and she questioned why she security did that. Then she did it again when a male fan punched a woman and she told security to get him out. Once he was gone, she restarted the song and played out the rest of the show even though there seemed to be some bad karma in the air.
Even though she stopped the concert twice, just from what we saw in the YouTube videos she put on one hell of show.
Back in 1984 Bruce Springsteen made Courteney Cox famous by dancing with her in the music video for his song Dancing in the Dark. Well on Thursday the singer did a dance on stage to that same song with the woman who made him…his mom. The 62 year old rocker brought his nearly 90 year old mom Adelle on stage with him and danced with her to enjoyment of the Philly crowd and all of us. Adelle might be in her 80’s, but she can show people a 1/4th of her age how it is done. And who doesn’t love that even though Springsteen is in his 60’s, he is still a mama’s boy. It just makes me love the Jersey boy was Born in the USA a little more.
So someone who goes by ant1mat3rie on Vimeo has been posting videos of scenes from different movies to make up a song. The latest version is Lionel Richie’s Hello and it is the first time I have been able to listen to that much of the song without wanting to turn it off. That isn’t the only ’80s hit to get the movie scene treatment, Wham!’s Last Christmas also got the mashup. I don’t know who this person is, but I want them to do it with more songs because I love what they have done with just these two songs. Don’t we need more?
