Rock singer Meat Loaf says he hired a vocal coach to learn how to better sing without vibrato as demanded by his new producer for his third "Bat Out of Hell" album.Meat Loaf, whose real name is Michael Aday, said that producer Desmond Child – who has worked with Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Ricky Martin – wanted a new vocal sound with less vibrato. Aday said he worked with Child because his previous producer and frequent collaborator Jim Steinman was ill – and not because of their recent legal dispute over ownership of the phrase "Bat Out of Hell." Aday filed a US federal lawsuit against Steinman in late May to challenge Steinman’s ownership of the phrase.Aday distanced himself from the lawsuit while promoting the latest album in Hong Kong."It’s about managers. I think Jim Steinman’s manager is the devil. Jim Steinman thinks my manager is the devil, so we had to communicate through managers," he said.Aday said he sued Steinman and his manager, whom he did not name, because the manager refused to "sign some papers we needed."He said the real target of the lawsuit was the manager, not Steinman."I didn’t really sue Jim Steinman. I sued the manager. You just had to name him (Steinman). The lawsuit was over in three weeks," Aday said. The singer said he decided to work with Child, instead of Steinman, on the third installment of "Bat Out of Hell" because he couldn’t afford to wait until Steinman recovered from two strokes and a heart problem."If you look at my life as a gas tank on an automobile, I got a quarter of a tank left," Aday said. "I made a selfish decision that said, ‘No, I can’t wait because I’m running on a quarter of a tank."’Aday said Steinman and Child will co-produce another musical project involving himself, but declined to give details. He said it wouldn’t be the fourth installment of "Bat Out of Hell."

I am interested to see how this album will turn out without Jim Steinman.

Meat Loaf is like Bat out of Hell to get his music back |

The legendary rocker – who is in the UK promoting his forthcoming album: ‘Bat Out Of Hell III’ – had his own entire back catalogue stolen and all his favourite LPs by other artists stolen while he was moving house. He told BANG Showbiz: ‘It was in the back of a removal van. The police arrested the driver for some reason and impounded the truck. ‘While it was there someone broke in and stole my entire back catalogue of everything I had done – every single, every album – gone.’ Now the ‘Dead Ringer For Love’ singer is trying to replace his collection by trawling the internet auction site. He added: ‘I have managed to get most of it back. It’s been expensive and time consuming and they might not be the exact same ones that were taken, but it’s a start. ‘It’s kind of weird trying to buy back your own stuff too.’ However, MeatLoaf – whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday – says not everything the thieves took was valuable. The rocker revealed: ‘They also stole a box of hangers. Hangers? What the hell are they going to do with a box of hangers. I won’t be trying to buy those back.’

Hopefully it will all be coming back to him and he will see paradise in the dashboard light!

Veteran rocker Meat Loaf has resolved a dispute with songwriter Jim Steinman over trademark rights to "Bat Out of Hell," dropping a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over the title of the best-selling 1977 album. "It resolved itself very quickly because neither one of us wanted to argue," Meat Loaf told Reuters in an interview on Monday at an event to promote "Bat out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose," set for release on October 31."There’s a mutual love and respect there," he said."We’re not going to have a knock-down brawl. We just have too much history," Meat Loaf said, speaking fondly of the man who produced the original album that shot the portly Texan to stardom after his breakout appearance in the cult film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Batman; The Musical by Jim Steinman? |

Holy Broadway, BATMAN! The Caped Crusader is set to be the subject of a new JIM STEINMAN stage musical. Composer Steinman, the man behind rock anthems by MEAT LOAF and BONNIE TYLER, among others, has been toying with the idea of creating BATMAN, THE MUSICAL for years – and now it looks as if his plan will be realised. The BAT OUT OF HELL hitmaker shelved the Batman musical idea, which he hoped to create with quirky film-maker TIM BURTON, two years ago (04) to allow both to concentrate on other projects. But now Steinman has put the venture high on his priority list after letting fans hear two news songs he has written for the musical. The first, NOT ALLOWED TO LOVE, is a dark duet penned for Batman and CATWOMAN, and the second WHERE DOES HE GET THOSE TOYS? – a tune for Batman villain THE JOKER and sung by Steinman himself – was debuted on Steinman’s website over the weekend (15/16JUL06). There are no official details as to when Steinman’s Batman musical will hit the stage, or if Burton is still attached to the project.
