Even though Fox was late to the game on picking up the second half of Lucifer’s second season, and they are wasting no time by giving the devilishly good show a 22-episode third season. The network announced today that it will join Empire, The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers on their 2017 Fall lineup and I can’t wait for new episodes.
Granted those will come with the second half of the second season starting on May 1st. According to the press release, here is what we can expect, “Lucifer (Tom Ellis) has gone off the grid and cut off all contact from his family and the police department, following Chloe’s (Lauren German) near-death. But the murder of an up-and-coming guitarist causes him to resurface – with a new mystery woman. Meanwhile, Lucifer’s mom (Tricia Helfer) realizes she may have found a way to finally get them back to Heaven.” Who is that mystery woman? We will have to wait two and a half long months to find out. It might feel like Hell, but Heaven is a place on Earth when Lucifer is on!
That sounded better in my head. When it comes to Lucifer, it always sounds like a good idea to tune in to this Monday night drama that gets more enticing with each new episode. This is one of the few shows, I insist on watching live and not waiting to watch it on my DVR. It is that addictive. Kind of like the Devil has a hold on me.
Tonight at 9p on Fox, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) will do anything to save Chloe’s (Lauren German) life, but at what cost to him and more importantly to her? The man, who has the antidote that can cure her, took it with him to the grave, and now finding someone else who has it is proving to be impossible and time consuming. So time consuming the Detective is getting sicker and weaker, and it doesn’t look like she is going to make it. Her daughter, Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) and Amenadiel (D. B. Woodside) are holding a bedside vigil at her hospital bed while her friends will do all they can do to save her. Even doing the unthinkable. But is that enough?
By the end of the midseason finale someone, who has been in every episode, will die and so will somebody else. Their deaths will have an impact on everyone around them, an impact you would never expect.
Therefore, bring the tissues because you are going to need them in this episode that shows a whole new side to several of out characters. Everyone brings their best performances tonight and you really don’t want to miss them.
Everyone but Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) who is just her normal perfect self that doesn’t need to change. She is the person we most want to be friends with and have as our friend because she will defend you until the end.
When it comes to Lucifer, the show, as a whole, this is one of the very few shows that I make sure to watch live every week because I adore it more and more with each new episode. It is unlike anything else on television these days and the acting and writing is always phenomenal. It is a great escape from reality and we all need that.

Tonight at 10p on NBC, Timeless one of the most anticipated shows of the fall debuts. The Sci-Fi drama ponders what would you do if you could change an iconic moment in history. They start off with the Hindenburg and next week the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. These are two events that happened a long time ago because unlike Quantum Leap they can’t travel within their lifetime. The reasoning is explained early on.
Now that you know that, let’s get to the show. There is a secret time machine that has been hidden from the Government, but now its existence will be known when Garcia Flynn (Goran Visnjic), a master criminal, steals it. He has gone back to New Jersey in 1937 to stop the Hidenburg from blowing up. the secret group has assembled three people to go back in time in the spare ship to stop him before he does his damage to time. Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) works for the company and he will pilot the ship. As an African-American he is not looking forward to the journey back in time. Master Sergeant Wyatt Logan, US Army Delta Force (Matt Lanter) is there to protect them. Then there is Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer), who teaches history, as in she is a renowned expert is all things the past. She is there to preserve history. Which will be difficult for them when they have to decide whether or not to save someone like Abraham Lincoln.
Do you change the past knowing there will be consequences in the future? Believe me there are consequences. And that is why you will love this show. That and they really capture the look of the eras they go back to. Each week it is a new period piece.
An hour earlier but on Fox, Lucifer’s mom is back in his life and it is going to be Hell on Earth for him. His mom has jumped into Tricia Helfer’s body and that will make things very awkward for him. Which will make this quirky show about the Devil even more lovable. I want to say more, but it is sincerely something you have to enjoy for yourself because that is what Lucifer is all about!
https://youtu.be/84Tb6vAjmQg Lucifer was one my favorite shows last season, so I was happy that it was renewed for a second one. Then I started to worry that it might suffer the Sophomore Slump like so many other shows. After watching the first two episodes of the season, I happy to report that it hasn’t. In fact, I think it is more devilishly divine!
The season premiere on Fox tonight at 9p picks up days after the finale and Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is on the search for his mother. He is looking for people who recently died and miraculously come back to life. Believe it or not, it happens more often than you think.
Then Lucifer might have caught a break when Decker (Lauren German) and him are called to investigate the murder on a set. Could the actress the victim was the body double be the body of his Dear Old Mom? He will do his hardest to find out and she will do her hardest to entice him.
All of this leads to a lot of moments that will leave you having one Hell of time and Ellis singing a beautiful song as he tickles the ivories toward the end of the show. It is worth watching this episode just for that, but you get so much more to sing about in return.

Tonight at 9p, Lucifer grows tired of the human race when someone is killing in his name. What he doesn’t know, is the group that is trying to summon Lucifer (Tom Ellis) are not the people actually doing the murders. The person doing that is someone he knows. Everyone is a suspect including him.
When someone he has had conflict with in the past is murdered, he becomes the main suspect. How will he get out of this?
That all leads up to next week’s suspenseful and surprise-filled season finale. One that begins with a shocking moment and doesn’t stop until the final seconds. That last reveal sets things up for the second season. Why talk about next week now? Because I won’t be able to preview it next week without spoiling any of the episode. It’s one of those episodes that is so devilishly good, you don’t want to miss a single second. But you have to watch tonight’s episode in order to truly love it. You know what, if you’ve missed the season, now is the time to catch up.
Lucifer truly is one of the best new shows of the season. So what are you waiting for?
