Liza Minelli and David Gest have settled their differences – enabling their divorce to finally go ahead. The couple’s legal disputes officially came to an end on Thursday (18.01.07) when their lawyers filed court papers saying they had resolved matters and agreed to divorce without fault. Gest’s lawyer, Susan M. Moss, said: "Liza Minnelli and David Gest have resolved all disputes between them, and the parties will be divorced without fault on the part of either of them. "The terms of the settlement are confidential. They will be divorced within the next few weeks." The couple have chosen to get divorced in Memphis, where Gest has a home, as the state of Tennessee had no-fault divorce, meaning neither party needs to accuse the other of any wrong doing. Minnelli’s lawyer, Dorothy Weber, said: "An amicable resolution to all outstanding matters has been reached."

What’s up with Liza Minnelli’s eyebrows? |

A certain estranged husband is known to favour the tattooed look where his eyebrows are concerned. And now it seems Liza Minnelli is following in former flame David Gest’s footsteps. At Heathrow airport on her way to New York the former star of Cabaret sported thick arched lines where her eyebrows should have been. The bizarre look gave the impression Miss Minnelli’s eyebrows had been either painted or tattooed on. But the star’s decision to fiddle with her brows may be more than just a cosmetic malfunction, according to leading plastic surgeon Alex Karidis. He told how many older women have their eyebrows painted or tattooed on when their real ones start to droop. Mr Karidis said: "The brow is very important, it frames the whole face and when women age it can start to droop along with the skin. "This is why many older women have their eyebrows shaved off and fake ones tattooed or painted in high above the eyes. It can make the whole area look younger and firmer." He added: "Liza Minnelli was famed for her high, thick arched brows but it is inevitable they would start to fall slightly with age making the eyes look older."

She needs to sue who ever did that to her.

If the Luxor’s light beam ever needs extra wattage, bring on Liza Minnelli. The energy at her free concert for fellow entertainers early Sunday was something to behold. The Nativity With 23 standing ovations and too many affectionate shoutouts to count, more than 1,000 showbiz kids and headliners showered the Broadway and film icon with appreciation during her two-hour show in the Luxor Theatre. Minnelli was making good on a recent promise to revive a lost tradition on the Strip. Back in the 1980s, she often joined Sammy Davis Jr. for special after-hour shows for performers who rarely got to see the big names. Minnelli, 60, repeatedly referred to the youngish crowd as "my babies" and thanked the audience for turning out. In a moment that long will be remembered, Minnelli brought down the house late in the show when she told the crowd, "Wait a minute, I can’t see a damn thing," and plucked off her iconic eyelashes. Special guest performer Terri White wowed ‘em with "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Sam Harris joined Minnelli for "Happy Days are Here Again." As the crowd filed out about 3:30 a.m., "La Cage" headliner Frank Marino was heard saying, "Now if we can just get Cher to do it."

LIZA Minnelli played bat mitzvah star over the weekend as she belted out five songs at a gala for Charlotte Kassimir, the 13-year-old daughter of hair transplant guru Dr. Joel Kassi mir, at Marquee. Spies say Min nelli didn’t charge a dime to play the club, which was adorned in pink and white crystals by de signer Ed Libby at a cost of nearly $1 million. "Liza is an old family friend and did it as a favor. She can command $250,000 a show and usually doesn’t get out of bed for less than that," our source said. As Marty Richards, Patrick McMullan, Lennox Lewis and others looked on, Minnelli told Charlotte, "Enjoy being a girl because life goes by in a snap," and then launched into "Cabaret."
