Back in 2011, Kelsey Grammer married Kayte Walsh and it looks like he wants to spend the rest of his life with his 4th wife. At least her name will always be with him. That is because he told Conan O’Brien that he got her name tattooed on his crotch.
Why did he get her name on his pubis? He says, “I think it was more, sort of, an ownership thing. My wife said, ‘Why don’t you get a tattoo?'” Then he explained, “I guess, maybe, it was based on the idea if ever, I thought maybe a peccadillo outside the marriage, was a good idea. Whoever it might be, would read that this particular piece of equipment was already signed for, and owned, by someone named Kayte.”
Am I the only person picturing what that tattoo looks like on him? Is it her signature? Is it in cursive or print? Is it in black or in color? So many images; and I never wanted to think of his nether region. Because now I cannot get that image out of my head. My poor mind.
Now that it looks like the Mad About You revival is not happening, that means another one has to go in its place. According to Deadline, Kelsey Grammer and CBS TV Studios are shopping around the idea of him bringing back Frasier. Just him in a new city with a new cast of characters. Since his dad (John Mahoney) and dog are, sadly, no longer with us, I get why they would not be involved. But what about the others?
Frasier was not just about him, it was an ensemble. If it was just him, it would have gotten cancelled during the first season. I mean think of it this way. Since then he has been part of several shows, and the longest one lasted just 18 episodes. I think that says it all. If you are going to do Frasier, we also need to have Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce and Peri Gilpin, without them there is no reason to do it.
Kelsey Grammer was on Conan O’Brien’s talk show the other night and he told him a remarkable story about his first audition.
Back in 1975, the 20-year-old got kicked out of Julliard, but voice teacher, Edith Skinner, saw something special in him, Therefore, she got him in touch with an agent.
Grammer went over to meet Mort Schwartz, who then sent him out to meet with some guy named Lucas who was doing a movie about outer space. He took the address and walked over to meet this Lucas guy. That was when the director said he was doing a “fairytale in space” about two men who rescue a princess. Lucas felt he might be too old for the younger guy and just a tad bit too young to star as the older guy. Although, maybe he could get away with playing a John Wayne type character. Finally, Lucas told him he would think about it. Well, I guess he never gave him another thought because that was the last time the actor ever heard from him.
Two years later, Grammer goes to the movies to see something called Star Wars and he realized what an opportunity he missed out on. Granted, nearly a decade later he got his big break and he spent the next two decades playing Fraser Crane. I guess you can say it worked out OK for him.
Plus, he has a great first audition story because how many people can say they auditioned to play Han Solo?
BTW While I don’t think that Grammer would have made the best Han Solo, I think that Harrison Ford would have been awesome Fraser Crane. What do you think if the roles were reversed?
