Actress Kate Hudson and her husband, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, are splitting, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. A rep for the You, Me and Dupree star confirms that the couple are separating after nearly six years of marriage. Hudson, 27, and Robinson, 39, wed on New Year’s Eve 2000 after dating for about a year. Their son, Ryder Russell, was born Jan. 7, 2004.
In September 2004, while shooting Skeleton Key in New Orleans, Hudson told PEOPLE about her relationship with Robinson since Ryder’s birth: "We’re sharing something so gigantic now. I think it’s the best we’ve ever felt being together."

KATE HUDSON has warned the paparazzi not to photograph her son. Hudson has a two-year-old son, RYDER RUSSELL, with her BLACK CROWES singer husband CHRIS ROBINSON and is incensed when photographers snap the young tot. She says, "The only thing that bugs me is my son. When people are taking pictures of your kid, he doesn’t know what he wants. He is two-and-a-half years old. "He doesn’t choose that, and I think that’s unfair. I try not to focus on it too much for his sake because that could be dangerous." The Oscar-nominated star knows from her own experience as a celebrity offspring how unsettling cameras can be for a child. Her mother GOLDIE HAWN divorced Hudson’s biological father shortly after she was born before getting together with KURT RUSSELL, who Hudson considers to be her father. Hudson remembers how strict he was with photographers, saying, "If we were with my dad he was like ‘not with my kids’. Nobody would ever take a picture, ever. "The only time I remember it (got out of hand) was at Heathrow Airport. It scared me because it was so weird and foreign to me."

KATE HUDSON was furious after learning her two-and-a half year old son RYDER was injured by an older child while playing in a New York City park on Monday (17JUL06). The star was in town doing publicity for her new movie YOU, ME AND DUPREE, when she received a call that her son had been involved in an accident. She explains, "Ryder had his first big accident today. He’s fine. "Ryder was at the park and some big kid that’s like nine-years-old or something was in the wrong area, knocked him over, and he hit his lip and busted his lip open and got all bruised everywhere. "I got that call that is like the worst call to get, ‘There’s been an accident at the park…’ "But thank God I wasn’t there, I would have drop-kicked that kid to like the West Side Highway. I would have been so mad! I would have been like, ‘Where are his parents?!’ "He’s really into the cowboy thing, so he immediately looked at himself in the mirror and got on his horse and said, ‘I’m a real cowboy now!’ He took it like a little man."
