June Squibb might be 94 years old, but she is not too old to kick your ass.

The actress, whose new movie is coming out on June 21st, has a message for anyone who plans to use their phone during a screening of Thelma: Don’t do it.

After watching her threat, I will leave my phone in the car. Better safe than sorry, especially because Squibb is so scary

Don’t mess with June Squibb
March 5th, 2024 under June Squibb, Movies. [ Comments: none ]

June Squibb might be 94 years old. However, she is not too old to experience a first in her career, which has spanned over 70 years.

The actress is starring in the movie Thelma. Believe it or not, this is the first time she has been the lead in a production.

Thelma Post, a feisty 93-year-old grandmother who gets conned by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson (Fred Hechinger) and sets out on a treacherous quest across Los Angeles, accompanied by an aging friend (Richard Roundtree) and his motorized scooter, to reclaim what was taken from her.

And here is something else impressive about Squibb and the movie. She did her own stunts in the action film.

Squibb might look sweet, but she is one tough woman you don’t want to mess with! And that is why we love her.

Thelma is coming to theaters on June 21st.

Tell the cops and mom that the babysitter’s dead
February 28th, 2024 under June Squibb, Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead has been a cult favorite since 1991. So you would think since it’s only been a third of the century since it came out that the movie studios would leave it alone. Well, you are wrong.

We are getting a reimagination of the film on April 12th. And it looks like such a stinker that it smells worse than the babysitter’s corpse.

Seventeen-year-old Tanya Crandell (Simone Joy Jones) can’t wait to spend the summer living it up with her friends in Spain before heading to Howard University in the fall. But when her mom (Ms. Pat) decides to head to a much-needed wellness retreat in Thailand, Tanya is forced to stay home with her three siblings instead. Following the unexpected death of their elderly babysitter (June Squibb), Tanya gets a job working for the confident and ambitious Rose (Nicole Richie). Juggling work, family, and a complicated romance, Tanya faces the responsibility of adulthood at the cost of her summer of freedom.

Are you going to hire a babysitter to go see it?

June Squibb’s final plea to win the Oscar!
February 20th, 2014 under Jimmy Kimmel, June Squibb, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

June Squibb received her first Oscar nomination this year at the tender age of 84 for Best Supporting Actress in Nebraska. Well yesterday when she was on Jimmy Kimmel Live she made a video explaining to the Academy voters why she should win her the award; and if I could vote for her, I would. I sincerely think she made her case for the golden statuette, don’t you?
Tune into ABC on March 2nd to see if Oscar goes home with her or one of those younger and prettier ladies.
