A Mary Poppins reunion!!!
March 19th, 2012 under Dick Van Dyke, Julie Andrews. [ Comments: none ]

WENN.com
Almost 50 years after Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews made Mary Poppins the two were reunited at the The Professional Dancer’s Society Gypsy Awards; and they look just close as they did when the classic musical came out in 1964. How cool is to see Bert and Mary Poppins together again? I know for me seeing them reunited has me as excited a spoon full of sugar.
BTW the other woman in the picture is Rob Petrie’s brand new wife Arlene Silver, who wasn’t even born when the movie came out.

Julie Andrews will SING at the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade
November 7th, 2006 under Julie Andrews, Whatever happened to.... [ Comments: none ]

Julie Andrews will not only ride in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, she’ll also be singing. Or at least lip synching to the loud speakers amplifying her to the millions of viewers — live and televised. She’ll be aboard the new Story Book float boasting the super-charming book, "The Great American Mousical" written by Julie and daughter Emma Walton Hamilton. The song is "The Show Must Go On" written by Julie, Emma, Inda Eaton and Annamarie McCoy with orchestration by Ian Fraser. A CD will be sold at Julie’s book-signing Nov.26 at Macy’s. It’s the first time Julie’s sung (only seven notes), since her throat surgery nine years ago. (Well, it’s the second time. She toasted my column’s 50th anniversary, April 23, 2002 at the Beverly Hilton, singing, "I’ve Grown Accustomed to His SPACE").

OMG! I can’t wait to hear how she sounds!

Julie Andrews gets tops honors at the SAG Awards!
September 25th, 2006 under Julie Andrews, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

Julie Andrews, the legendary actress and singer who is perhaps best known as the beloved star of 1965’s The Sound of Music, will be honored with a Life Achievement Award at the 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in January, it was announced Monday. "Julie Andrews is a woman of great generosity, creativity, courage, elegance and wit," SAG President Alan Rosenberg said in a statement. "She embodies and transcends the memorable roles she has created. Julie has been a positive presence in my life and continues to inspire multiple generations. I believe it is exceptionally significant to be recognized by people who do the same work you do." Andrews, who was born and raised in England, won an Academy Award in her movie debut as the magical, flying governess in 1964’s Mary Poppins. She got another Oscar nod for 1983’s Victor/Victoriaa. Younger film audiences may know Andrews best as the voice of Queen Lillian in Shrek 2, a role she is reprising for Shrek 3, due out next summer. She also starred opposite Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries. In addition to acting and singing, Andrews is an author and has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Fund for Women for 15 years. She and her husband, filmmaker Blake Edwards, have been married for nearly 37 years. The 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007.
