Bakers have gotten so good at making life-like cakes that it is hard to tell if they are cake or an actual item. There have been a few competition shows asking contestants whether or not they can tell the difference between what is real and what is food.
Sweet Deceit is one of those shows. However, they are not making it easy on the contestants.
It is described as: “Host Josh Peck challenges teams of three to find hyperrealistic sweets hidden in plain sight among everyday objects. In each episode, a master baker transforms familiar items into incredible edible imposters and secretly places them throughout a unique location. Across four increasingly difficult rounds, the team must work together to decide what’s real and what’s sweet — but there’s only one way to know for sure: take a bite! Once the sweets are revealed, the bakers pull back the curtain to show how they created their edible illusions. If a team can find all six hidden sweets, they walk away with $12,000.
Sweet Deceit premieres October 5th with two episodes on Food Network. Are you going to take bite of the show?
We have seen Is It Cake? where contestants have to guess if something is cake in a sterile studio.
Food Network and host Josh Peck are upping the ante with Sweet Deceit. Three teams will play four rounds, trying to figure out which items are cake in real-world locations. Real-world locations include haunted houses, a movie set morgue, a kindergarten classroom, the Magic Castle in Hollywood, an ice rink, and Santa’s Workshop. Each location in the episode will be tougher than the one before. And the winning team will win a lot of dough, as in $12,000 in cash, not flour.
“Sweet Deceit has all my favorite things: food, fun, and deception,” said Josh Peck. “The craftsmanship our cake artists put into their creations was unlike anything I’ve ever seen – the edible creations are unbelievable, watching teams literally put their money where their mouths are made every reveal a blast. It’s a must watch for the whole family.”
Sweet Deceit debuts with two episodes on October 5th at 10p.
It has been almost 20 years since Josh Nichols hit his idol, Oprah Winfrey, with his car on Drake & Josh, and fans of the show are still talking about that episode.
Case in point. Bri Morales recently got to ask Oprah Winfrey some questions for her Are You OK? podcast. The six-minute interview took place on the street. So, Bri opened up questions to her audience, and someone wanted to know if she knew about the Nickelodeon show and one of the characters being obsessed with her.
The Queen responded, “I hear that Josh likes me. I don’t even know why Josh likes me…I think that’s the coolest thing. Thanks, Josh!”
Well, when Josh Peck heard that, he immediately shared his reaction on social media. And he reacted just as you would expect him to react to Lady O knowing who he and the show are. His soul immediately left his body and ascended to heaven.
I mean, what is left that could top that for the actor? Even his three kids’ milestones will not compare to that. Not even close.
Oprah freaking Winfrey actually knew about the teenage family sitcom and his character’s obsession with her. How cool is that?
Imagine waiting two decades to find out that a woman as famous as Winfrey knew about your show and your character. And that is why we saw the mind-blown emoji come to life in that moment.
I think we need a Drake & Josh movie, and Oprah needs to do a cameo in it, taking Josh to court for violating the restraining order for the umpteenth time.
Before Josh Peck was doing sketch comedies, like The Amanda Show, he was doing standup on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. How precious was the 10-year-old in that 1996 episode? So precious that, after watching this, you can see why he was in such high demand as a child actor.
