JENNIFER Lopez isn’t saying why she suddenly left the cast of "Dallas" – but an industry insider tells us there are two very big reasons – a subpar script and the less-than-strapping John Travolta, who was to play J.R. Ewing opposite J.Lo’s Sue Ellen. "The script sucks," our source says. "And John Travolta? If it had been a man’s man like Ed Harris or Tommy Lee Jones . . . but you don’t just go from doing ‘Hairspray’ to ‘Dallas.’ "

7th Heaven actress Katie Cassidy, 19, has beaten out Jessica Simpson and Kristin Cavallari for the role that they were both up for in the new Dallas movie (also starring J. Lo and John Travolta’s enormous head). Cassidy, who is the daughter of former teen idol David Cassidy and most recently starred in the film Click, will play the character Lucy Ewing. “Producers wanted to steer clear of the drama and also thought Katie was simply better for the role,” a source tells Us Weekly. Jennifer Lopez, who has been cast as alcoholic Sue Ellen, reportedly didn’t want Simpson, 25, as a costar in the upcoming big-screen version of the television series. “She’s hoping for a no-name actress [to play wild Lucy Ewing],” a source told Us in May. “Jennifer doesn’t want a diva on the set.” Even the original Lucy, Charlene Tilton, 47, didn’t want to see Simpson in the role, preferring 19-year-old Lindsay Lohan instead. “Jessica is beautiful but too old,” said Tilton. “I had just turned 17 when we started filming. It’s more exciting if Lucy is doing all of these things…out of high school. [Lindsay Lohan] is a great choice.”
