Tonight at the Grammys Adele sang George Michael’s 1996 song FastLove as a tribute to the singer that died less than two months ago. When the song took a tumble, she cursed. Then she said, “I’m sorry for swearing and I’m sorry for starting again. Can we please start it again? I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for him. I’m sorry. I can’t.”
She stared it over again and it went off without a hitch. So pitch perfect Michael wouldn’t let the sun go down on her for it.
As beautiful as it was, I wish she would’ve picked a song he was more known for. She could’ve slowed down Faith and there wouldn’t have been a dry in the house or at home. Picking one of his lesser known tunes is not really celebrating his career as much as one we all know. He was one of the two late artists who got a special tribute and it was for the reason that his music touched several generations and will keep doing so for many generations to come. This tribute will be forgotten before she can sing the word Hello. It wasn’t bad, it just could’ve been more.
The other legendary singer who got a special tribute tonight was Prince who was a musical King. The man, who died last April, could play over 100 instruments and make music that will last several lifetimes. He was honored by a band founded, The Time and Bruno Mars, who takes inspiration from him. It is something we can all go crazy about because it is a number that perfectly captures the singer’s essence. Let’s Go Crazy over Prince one last time at the Grammys!
George Michael passed away from unknown causes, but peacefully today at the age of 51.
He started his career in the early ’80s with Wham, when they split he went on his own to have a bigger career with his chart toppers I Want Your Sex, Faith, Jesus to a Child and so many more.
His later years had been plagued with drugs and rehab, but we will focus on his music that made us happy for the last 4 decades.
So today remember him for his music and belt out his hits, as I will be doing for several weeks!
Ryan Murphy Tweeted the above picture and said “The New Wham!” and all I could do was cry a little. I don’t want Glee to Wake Me Up Before they Go Go with this performance.
Seriously we can barely get Andrew Ridgely out of hiding as it is, this number might keep him hidden forever.
So Ryan Murphy I beg you to do the Harlem Shake instead of this. Especially since Glee has a good track record of killing overplayed songs that just won’t go away.
A few months ago George Michael was near death with a bout of pneumonia, and thankfully he survived that ordeal. The singer released his first music video since he almost died and in White Light he declared that he is alive. I can confirm that and I also think that he is back better than he has been in years. Listening to him sing makes me so thankful that voice wasn’t silenced forever. I forgot just how sexy it is.
Don’t you think for the first time in a long time the George Michael we fell in love with from Wham! is back doing what he does best?
George Michael was hospitalized in Austria over a month ago for pneumonia and today he is finally back home in The UK and breaking his silence about his hospital stay. What we didn’t know is that it was really touch and go for the singer while he battled pneumonia. You can tell he was still weak and struggling to breath at times as he talked to reporters and told them that doctors spent three weeks trying to keep him alive. He would not go into detail about how bad it was because he says that he wants to protect his family from how bad it was. He apologized for not commenting before now and said he was not up to doing so. He added with voice cracking as he said this, “I spent the last 10 days since I woke up literally thanking people for saving my life which is something I have never had to do before and never want to do again.” I think that shows how severe his illness was. The singer whose one of his biggest hits is called Faith, has found it after his hospital stay.
It seems like he is a new man who is not taking life for granted anymore which is something he hopes he does because I would love to see him live and alive!
After the reporters left, he was back on Twitter and Tweeted “I’m back and I’m proud, though not very loud…… (which, I assure you, will be temporary!) MERRY XMAS TO ALL OF YOU! ISN’T LIFE GRAND !! X”
