Animation Domination dominates Sundays again
September 29th, 2019 under Fox, Seth MacFarlane, The Simpsons. [ Comments: none ]

It is time for us all to be a little more animated again because Fox Sundays are back doing what they do best. Making us laugh with their animated shows.

The Simpsons start it off at 8p. Homer and Bart go viral and they become the biggest thing on the internet. How will they handle their newfound celebrity status? How long until they mess it up?

Talking about messing things up, perfect student Lisa gets in trouble tonight. So much so, she is sentenced to detention. When a corporate entity buys detention, Lisa decides to fight it. Because that is what she does.

The Simpsons, at 31, might be older than a lot of their viewers, but this show never gets old.

Then at 8:30p, we get to meet Bless The Harts. This is not an easy show to describe, but it is a show about family.

Jenny Hart (Kristen Wiig) lives with her mother Betty (Maya Rudolph) and daughter Violet (Jillian Bell). As if three women living together in tight small house, struggling to pay bills, is not hard enough, her boyfriend also lives with them.

That is enough to make Jenny go crazy. Instead, it makes the girl from High Point, NC have conversations with Jesus. That Jesus.

Maybe one way to describe it is King of the Hill meets Bob’s Burgers.

Which gets us to Bob’s Burgers that moves to 9p. Bob decides to do something very special for Linda for their wedding anniversary. Since he never bought her a ring when they got engaged, he decides to give her one now. He does not want her to find it, so he hides it in a secret place.

However, it is not that secret because their children find it. Gene decides to try it on, and it gets stuck on his finger. It does not want to come off, so he decides it leave it on when they go to the water park,

What happens to your fingers when they are wet for a long period of time? They get skinnier and the ring falls off. Since they were all over the park, they have no idea where it fell off.

Will they be able to find it or is Bob’s romantic gift lost forever? You will want to tune in for a very sweet episode.

Finally at 9:30p, the night is not over until the fat guy sings and Peter Griffin is singing on Family Guy
tonight.

But first, he has a heart attack when his bosses reveal that someone is going to be fired at work. Turns out it was just a panic attack, but it is way a really bad one. His doctors tell him to get some relaxation, so he goes on a cruise with several Soft Rock singers from the ’70s like Kenny Loggins and Hall & Oates.

Everything is going fine until their perfect cruise turns into the Posideon Adventure. If you have never seen that movie? Where have you been because there are three versions of it? Sorry, now four!

Anyways, out of all of tonight’s episodes, this one had me laughing the hardest. In fact, it is the funniest sitcom episode of the week on broadcast. I know this because I saw them all except Mom and Bless This House.

Death comes to Chicago Med and Fire, Masked Singer is ready to unmask
September 25th, 2019 under Dick Wolf, Fox. [ Comments: none ]

Chicago Med is back on NBC tonight and not everyone is going to make it to the credits tonight. The episode starts off with Will (Nick Gehlfuss) rushing a bloodied Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) into the ER after their car accident. She is unresponsive and doctors are doing all they can to save her. Will looks like he is OK, but turns out he was more injured than anyone thought.

Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) is dealing with his dad’s death and the hospital thinks it is murder. Because of the relationship he had with his father, they think he did it. They start an investigation and he is their #1 suspect.

Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) is not dealing with the fact that she has cancer and it has metastasized. Sharon (S. Epatha Merkerson) insists that she gets it looked at. Turns out nurses are just as bad patients as doctors.

Finally, Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) comes back after his wedding to his dying ex-wife to help everyone through the madness. Little did he know he was going to also help everyone deal with a death of one of their own.

Who dies? You know I cannot tell you! But I can tell you it is worth the watch.

Then at 9p on Chicago Fire, the show picks up with them still fighting the fire from the season finale. One of their own is critically injured and they are not going to survive. That person’s death is going to rock the firehouse. Their death will mean something different to all of them, and they will all handle it differently.

To make matters worse, headquarters is going to see if Casey (Jesse Spencer) acted criminally during the fire. They will launch an investigation, what will they find out?

Get the tissues ready because you are going to need them for a heart-wrenching episode.

If you want to laugh, then you are going to want to tune in for The Masked Singer. Tonight at 8p, the first 8 singers are going to sing and two will be unmasked.

The competition starts off with the Butterfly vs the Egg and the Skeleton vs the Thingamajig. The loser of each battle will go up against each other and one will be revealed.

After that reveal it is time for the Ladybug vs the Rottweiler (my cat’s favorite) and the Tree vs the Ice Cream. Like the first round, one of them will take off their costume for the last time.

While the 8 of them show us that they can really sing, the judges: Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, Nichole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy try to guess who is underneath those totally awesome masks. At one point, someone guesses Marshmallow and the other judges are like how would we know what he is looks because he already wears a mask.

The clues are harder, but I suck at guessing. Although, I think I know who one of them is. However. I am sure I am wrong because I never get it right until midway through the show.

Will you do better than me? Tune in for a show where the singers are just as amazing as what they are wearing. On that note, host Nick Cannon is wearing diamond shoes that are worth $2.4 million. The contestants who can barely see anything in those oversized heads, better make sure not to step on his feet. It will cost them more than to fix his shoes than what they are getting paid to be on the show.

The Resident, Empire and FBI have explosive season premieres!
September 24th, 2019 under Dick Wolf, Empire, Fox. [ Comments: none ]

The Resident moves to its new night tonight at 8p on Fox and it takes place a month after the season finale.

Nic (Emily VanCamp) is still dealing with the loss of her family member. In the season finale, her father gave her sister his kidney. The surgeries did not go as smoothly as expected. Therefore, only one survived and we find out who. The loss is so devastating to her that she cannot even step into the hospital. Tonight she goes back for the first time.

Not on a good day. As soon as she walks in, there is an explosion in the basement. Little does she know that Conrad (Matt Czuchry) went down to the basement looking for a lost little boy. Together the two of them and another person are caught in the explosion. Will Nic lose someone else she loves?

Meanwhile, Dr. Bell (Bruce Greenwood) is dealing with the hospital being sold to a conglomerate. They made him take on Barrett Cain (Morris Chestnut) neurosurgeon, who has an ego that puts them all to shame. As we know, no one has a bigger ego than Bell. At least we used to know.

Chastain General is going through a lot of changes this season. I cannot wait to see them play out.

Then at 9p, Empire begins its final season. It will be a figuratively explosive one. The show picks up months after the season finale.

Lucious (Terrence Howard) is in hiding and has a new look. Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is on a View like show. Andre (Trai Byers) is running Empire but someone comes in claim their stake. He does not want this person there.

The Lyons are trying to figure out who they are without their leader. However, how long can he stay away? Do they need him?

You are just going to have to tune in for a season where anything can happen. Anything but Jussie Smollett coming back to the show this season.

https://youtu.be/F5jxEzzJdlE
Also at 9p, is FBI that starts off with a Muslim restaurant getting bombed. The case hits close to home for Omar (Zeeko Zaki) who used to eat there all the time as a kid. This is his community in more ways than one.

When an FBI agent comes to him and tells him that there is going to be another attack, he has to go undercover to stop it. Since this is close to him, he will make a mistake. One that could cost him his job.

The episode also looks at what Muslims in America have been dealing with since 9/11. Something they handle very responsibly.

Tune in for an emotional season premiere that really makes people think.

9-1-1 is back saving lives, Prodigal Son tries to stop murders
September 23rd, 2019 under Fox, Ryan Murphy. [ Comments: none ]

https://youtu.be/rmgKalGnUV8
Fox is ready for a new season and they are starting it off with 9-1-1. The episode starts with a car being chased by police. Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) gets a phone call from the guy being chased and he has a good reason for not being able to stop. He can’t. The brakes are not working. Now, everyone has to figure a way to get him to stop the car and get out of it alive. I recently saw an old telemovie about this just scenario because it has actually happened.

That is what Ryan Murphy does. He brings real-life scenarios to his show and gives it his spin of things. Sometimes I wish he didn’t because I still have not been able to use my car wash that was featured on one of his episodes and my car is really dirty.

Back to the show, it takes place months after the season finale and Buck (Oliver Stark) is finally ready to get back to work. That is if he can pass the test. While he waits, he takes Eddie’s (Ryan Guzman) son to the Santa Monica Pier for a nice day out. That is until a tsunami ruins their day. Well, maybe not everything is ripped from the headlines.

Oh and did I mention that LAFD Station 118 go to a nursing home to check out an elderly man who has an unusual STD! Let’s just say we are all going to have the sex talk with older family members after tonight. Condoms prevent more than pregnancy.

I always forget how much I miss 9-1-1 until it is back. And it is back baby.

Then at 9p, it is time for Prodigal Son. When Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) was a little boy, his father was arrested for being a serial killer. Ever since then he wants to distance himself from his dad. However, he has become an FBI profiler. When they fire him, Gil Arroyo (Lou Diamond Phillips) from the NYPD hires him to work for them.

The first case is a copycat of his dad’s murders. What better source of information than his father. Thus, he goes to his dad for help. Which might not be a good idea because Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen) gets into his head. That makes him go even deeper into his profiling.

His mother Jessica Whitly (Bellamy Young) and sister Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage) are going to try to stop him from talking to his father. However, he can’t even he wanted to. His dad knows has his number and he is not going to stop calling.

The more he deals with his dad, the more he remembers his childhood. He starts to remember things that he locked away which will make him question if the people around him knew more than they told him and how much more.

As he is going through all of this, he still has to deal with his job. Getting into the minds of serial killers. Each week, he will solve the modern-day murders as the ones from his past come back to haunt him in this dark thrilling drama.

Get a glimpse of some more of this season’s Masked Singers
August 14th, 2019 under Fox. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGi2mpZqt9I&feature=youtu.be
We are just over a month from the season premiere of The Masked Singer on Fox and today we got to meet a few more of the characters who will entertain our Wednesday nights.

So far we have seen the Butterfly, Egg, Leopard, Flamingo, Fox, Eagle and Skeleton. Today, we were introduced to the Ice Cream, an insect (fly), Purple Rose, a green fur ball my cat wants to play with, a dog and Panda. That is 14 of the 16 contestants who are taking part on the strangest singing competition on television.

Now we are left to wonder who is under those costumes and what significance they have to that person. The egg is going to have a lot of explaining to do. Unless they are a Chef. Things that make you go hmmmm?

The Masked Singer is back on September 25th`with a 2-hour premiere.
