6 more for Standoff and ‘Til Death!!!
November 16th, 2006 under Fox, Ron Livingston. [ Comments: none ]

Fox is sticking by "’Til Death" and "Standoff," ordering additional episodes of both frosh skeins. Net has given the go-ahead to nine more episodes of Brad Garrett laffer "Death" and six more segs of procedural drama "Standoff." Skeins are the first — and likely only — Fox frosh to be extended beyond their initial 13 seg commitments. "Death," from Sony Pictures Television, has struggled against tough competish Thursdays at 8 p.m. Fox execs believe the show might yet attract an audience and are hoping the return of "American Idol" and "24" will give it a boost. "Standoff," from 20th Century Fox TV, has also posted underwhelming Nielsen numbers. Still, skein has shown more of a pulse than Fox’s other frosh dramas, "Vanished" and "Justice." Fox opted to order six episodes of "Standoff" rather than the usual nine because, with "Idol" and "24," net believes it won’t have a need for more segs, a spokesman said.

You know I love Ron Livingston and Standoff, but don’t tell anyone I also really like ‘Til Death. If you have not seen ‘Til Death check it out tonight on Fox!

No more Justice for Fox
November 10th, 2006 under Fox. [ Comments: none ]

"Justice" has been served its walking papers, while "What About Brian" has been given a full-season pickup. Fox has yanked the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "Justice" from its lineup, effective immediately. Warner Bros. TV will finish out production on the skien’s 13th episode, but industry insiders said that the show has been effectively canceled. A Fox rep declined to use the ‘c’-word, however. "It’s been pulled from the schedule," the rep said. "Justice" failed to find an audience in two different timeslots. It began the season Wednesdays at 9, then replaced "Vanished" Mondays at 9 p.m. a few weeks ago. Repeats of "House" will fill the 9 p.m. Monday timeslot for the next two weeks, with "24" slated to air in the slot come January. While Bruckheimer has one of the best track records in TV, he’s had no luck at Fox. His last skein for the net, "Skin," failed to make it to a second season.

WTF? A sitcom revolving around Kellie Pickler? Seriously?
November 8th, 2006 under American Idol 1-5, Fox, Kellie Pickler. [ Comments: none ]

A sitcom star is born: Fox is developing a half-hour comedy revolving around "American Idol" finalist Kellie Pickler. Pickler will play a naive small-town Southern girl — a character based on herself — who discovers that her biological father is the state’s well-respected governor. His presidential dreams are put in jeopardy, but the two form a father-daughter relationship that winds up helping his standing in the polls. Twentieth Century Fox TV is behind the project, along with Watson Pond and "Idol" producer 19 Entertainment. Watson Pond’s Brad Johnson and 19’s Simon Fuller and Malcolm Young will exec produce. Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore ("That ’70s Show") will write and create the project, which has landed a script order. Johnson said he was impressed by Pickler’s comedic timing on "Idol." The "Idol" finale even featured a running segment in which Wolfgang Puck tried to feed Pickler upscale cuisine — and drew laughs for the young singer’s reaction to the foreign fare. "She’s fresh and sparkling and sweet, and we decided it would be great to take some of that natural comedic ability and put her in a situation comedy, surrounded by an ensemble," Johnson said. Pickler drew an "Idol" following for her brash honesty and mispronunciation of words like "calamari" and "salmon." After finishing sixth in the competish, she signed with RCA’s country label BNA. Her debut album was released last month.

That is the dumbest idea (and a year too late) Fox has had since they gave a show to Pauly Shore. Seriously?

Wentworth Miller’s Internet Break
November 6th, 2006 under Fox. [ Comments: none ]

We’re all guilty of googling ourselves from time to time, even Prison Break cutie Wentworth Miller! He recently stopped at an L.A. Kinko’s to check himself out on the worldwide web — for 25 cents a minute! Hey, we’d pay that to see him, too!
Actually I don’t think he is checking himself out because the pictures do not match on IMDB?

Fox cancels 2 and prepares to move The OC back to Wednesdays?
November 3rd, 2006 under Fox. [ Comments: none ]

Fox has called off "Happy Hour" and scratched "The Rich List" from its schedule. As part of a shuffle announced Friday, net has also slotted an original episode of "The O.C." for Wednesday at 9 p.m., in addition to the regularly scheduled Thursday seg. If "The O.C." gets some traction on Wednesday, Fox is expected to move the skein to the night permanently. Not surprisingly, fourth season premiere of "The O.C." fared poorly Thursday opposite brutal competish from three top 10 skeins: "Grey’s Anatomy," "CSI" and "Deal or No Deal." Making things tougher was Univision’s broadcast of the Latin Grammy Awards. "The O.C." scored its best ratings when it aired on Wednesdays during its first season, and the competish on the night is somewhat less intense. Skein still faces a challenge next week, however, since it’ll go up against the fall season finale of "Lost" and CBS’ red-hot "Criminal Minds." If Fox execs aren’t happy with how "The O.C." performs on Wednesday, net will air repeats of "Bones" in the 9 p.m. slot. If they are, it’s expected comedy repeats will fill the 9-10 p.m. Thursday slot. As for "Happy Hour" and "The Rich List," Fox wouldn’t confirm that skeins have been officially canceled, but insiders said neither show is expected to return. Eleven episodes of "Happy Hour" have been produced, and Warner Bros. TV is expected to shoot the remaining segs in the show’s initial 13 episode order.

The OC has a better chance of an audience on Wednesdays when LOST goes on hiatus, but I doubt it will help much.
