Barry Manilow is on The Drew Barrymore Show today, and the actress asked him a lot of questions. Thus, what do you do on a talk show?
First, she wanted to know where his awards are, and he admitted to her that he uses his Emmy to keep his door open in his studio. It is not that he is not proud of his award; it is just that it is a good doorstop.
Then she wanted to know if he could eat one food all of the time, what would it be? The singer said, “Whipped cream!” I am with him on that!
And finally, who does he want to play him in his biopic? Without hesitation, he said, “Robert Redford, of course!”
Something that would be interesting to see because Redford is seven years older than Manilow, and retired.
Personally, I would go with Rob Lowe. Think back to when Lowe was in Behind the Candelabra. Wouldn’t he be perfect?
Drew Barrymore started the day off crying by rewatching The Wedding Singer. And it made her cry because it was such a good movie. And you know how it ended!
“‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ is firing on all cylinders this season,” McMahon said. “Drew continues to catapult the show into the cultural zeitgeist with her empathetic and thoughtful interviews transporting viewers into her living room, where they feel like they are listening to a conversation between two friends that they are a part of. It’s an experience unlike any other in television. Drew is truly creating magic in daytime, and we’re thrilled to continue to bring that to our stations.”
Congrats to Drew for continuing to entertain us! Can you believe she has been doing it for over 40 years?
Drew Barrymore told Fellow Travelers Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey that she has crushes on both of them, even though she is not the right sex for them.
Bomer then told the host on her show that they love her and gave her a kiss on the lips. She got so overwhelmed that she fell over in her chair. And I can’t blame her. No one can because who doesn’t want to be kissed by the man who made a White Collar look sexy?
And it looks like the feeling was mutual because I swear it looked like Bomer was blushing.
Oprah Winfrey started doing her talk show when Drew Barrymore was just a preteen, so she knows a thing or two about hosting.
Tomorrow, when Lady O is on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress wanted to know if it is true that her mentor spent a lot of time with her audience.
And it turns out Oprah did, and she explained how much time she spent with them. “My crew used to be like, ‘Oh my god how much time is she gonna spend talking to that audience? Oprah, please let the audience go.’” Then she added, That’s why this is so hard to do without an audience, and I was complimenting you that you got through it without an audience because you’re not getting their energy. It’s their energy, it’s their feedback, it’s understanding whether what you’re saying is connecting….so to do it without anybody applause to you.”
And that is why Oprah is the most successful talk show host of all time. She gave back to her audience, and they gave back to her. That is how it should be.
I started thinking of all the talk shows I have been to. The only hosts to interact with the audience, that I have seen were Donny Osmond, Regis Philbin, Phil Donahue, Judge Judy, and that is it.
Have you had any of the talk show hosts interact with you when you went to a taping? Tell me in the comments.
