Back in 1984, Drew Barrymore starred in Steven King’s Firestarter. Now, 38 years later, the movie was remade with Ryan Kiera Armstrong in her role.
On Friday, both actresses came face to face with each on The Drew Barrymore Show, and they set everyone on fire. Well, things got heated, but in a good way.
It is incredible how much they seem alike when you see them side-by-side.
CBS announced today that it picked up The Drew Barrymore Show for a third season, but there are going to be some big changes.
The biggest one being that her one-hour show will now be two half hour ones that can feel like a full hour if need be. Does that make sense?
Starting the fall, CBS is explanding their morning news until 9:30a. The last half hour will let the local channels do their own news broadcast. If they want, they can air one of Barrymore’s 30 minutes there or hold it until later.
“Stations have always had a finite amount of shelf space, so we’re evolving the syndication model to meet the needs of our partners,” Steve LoCascio, President of CBS Media Ventures said. “We could not be happier to continue our relationship with CBS Stations and our other station partners to deliver more of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ through this innovative new idea. From Drew’s unique take on everyday news to headline-generating celebrity interviews to lifestyle how-tos, Drew is a force of nature who has brought a fresh optimistic viewpoint to daytime television. We love having her as part of the CBS family.”
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Will the networks split her show up, or will they air the talk show as a full hour. If they do that, then what happens with extra half hour they now have to fill? We will find out soon enough.
One of the things that sucks about being a Daytime TV show host is that you have to do things you don’t want to do. For example, today on The Drew Barrymore Show, she and Ross Matthews had to eat bugs.
Their menu consisted of tarantula, silkworm, sago worm, cricket, and grasshopper. Not one of those buggers sounds appetizing. And they didn’t sound so to either host. So Drew shared some of her bugs with the audience, and they agreed to try it.
Since the audience was eating them, Drew decided to do it too. At first, the actress thought the bugs tasted “totally delicious” when she gobbled them down. But then she got hit with the aftertaste. Her face said it all.
However, it didn’t say as much as Matthews did when he finally decided to try one. As you guessed, he hated it. And I completely understand where he is coming from. I know they are supposed to be healthy, but they are also gross. To quote Claire Horowitz, “Yuck!”
Sam Heughan was on The Drew Barrymore Show today, and they had a very risque conversation. She wanted to know if he wore kilts the traditional way, and he wanted to know if she was wearing any underwear under her skirt.
He didn’t fully answer her question, but she responded to his. Yes, she wears underwear.
Well, where does the conversation go from there? She wanted to know if he is single. The Outlander star told her, “certainly the job is so all encompassing and we spend so much time on the set and at work so…but yeah I’m open to something.”
However, it was not the way he said it. It is how he said it. He was totally flirting with her. I could feel their chemistry through my computer screen. Even more so than Jamie and Claire.
So, I wouldn’t be surprised if they showed up to an event together as boyfriend and girlfriend. What do you think of them hooking up?

I majored in Advertising at the University of Miami. On my graduation day, one of my teachers told me it was a good thing I wasn’t going into advertising. She wasn’t the only professor who felt that way. My ads were out there.
However, they were not as out there as the commercial for Quorn with Drew Barrymore. I have so many questions. Like where should I go to get chicken nuggets made with chicken for lunch?
