Can you believe that Dolly Parton doesn’t have the Presidential Medal of Freedom? She doesn’t, and Barack Obama regrets not giving it to her.
While he made the mistake, Donald Trump didn’t. In fact, he offered it to her not once but twice. “I couldn’t accept it because my husband was ill and then they asked me again about it and I wouldn’t travel because of the COVID,” Parton told Today’s Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush.
Would she accept one from President Joe Biden? Miss Dolly says, “Now I feel like if I take it, I’ll be doing politics, so I’m not sure.” Not only that, “But I don’t work for those awards,” she continued. “It’d be nice but I’m not sure that I even deserve it. But it’s a nice compliment for people to think that I might deserve it.”
Just like we don’t deserve pets because of their pure love and kindness, we don’t deserve Dolly Parton. She has done so much good in the World that we don’t even know about, and yet she still feels like she doesn’t America’s highest honor. Gd broke the mold when he made her, which is a shame because we need more people like her.
It is that time of the year when we all want to be on the nice list. However, we also enjoy being naughty. We don’t want to have a stocking full of coal. We want the tree to be filled with presents for ourselves on Christmas morning. What to do? Thankfully, we have a guardian angel to help us.
“It’s true. You get more presents if you’ve been nice,” Dolly Parton explained. “But, it is OK to be a little naughty now and again.”
Amen! While Santa may not bring me any nice presents down the chimney this year. The man I am being naughty with better bring me over a lot of expensive ones! That is what she meant, right?
Dolly Parton is continuing with her series of Dollyisms on Instagram. In the latest one, she said, “I’m going to say this is the only time of the year where it is OK to greet someone by saying ‘ho, ho, ho.'”
Since it is, every time you see someone who needs a smile, then instead of saying “hello,” say “ho, ho, ho.” It will definitely get a reaction out of them. Hopefully, it will be the one we want.
Seriously, can Dolly be any cuter? We all need her in our lives because she is like happiness wrapped up in joy topped with glee.
Dolly Parton sat down with This Morning’s Alison Hammond, and it was another delightfully fun interview that we always get from both ladies no matter who they talk to.
Hammond played a game asking her guest if Dolly would or wouldn’t do something. The first question was, would Miss Dolly ride a roller coaster? “Dolly wouldn’t,” the amusement park owner boldly stated. “I have too much to lose, like my hair, like my boobs might fall out.” So does she ride the rides at Dollywood? Nope, and her staff laugh at her about that.
Would the American treasure run for the toughest job in the US? “Dolly wouldn’t run for President,” she exclaimed. “We have had enough boobs in the White House here.” Ain’t no denying that, especially since she has not been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by any of the past boobs.
Talking about boobs, the country singer revealed which of her goddaughter’s songs she would sing. She said she would like to sing her version of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball. That should be fun since Parton has two wrecking balls in her sweater!
Better yet, I would love to see the music video where Dolly comes in on a wrecking ball as Miley did in her video for the catchy tune. How awesome would that be to see?
RuPaul got to sit down with Dolly Parton for Marie Claire, and he had a lot of questions for the legend. She had just had as many answers for him—some more surprising than others.
He wanted to know if she ever wore the same thing twice because we always see her in something different. “It’s not true that I don’t wear a lot of my clothes twice. If I love something, I wear it.” Parton told him. “If I’m on tour, I have stage outfits that I wear. But if it’s for a real special occasion, then I will put that in my museum, or I will allow other people to put certain costumes in their museums, or we auction off pieces for charity. So nothing ever goes to waste.”
While that is what she wears below her neck, what about what she wears over her forehead. She has some old wigs, and those, like her dresses, are in her museum Chasing Rainbows at Dollywood. “I don’t think I have any that I wear that are that old now, but I know what you mean,” she said. “See, you’re a drag queen. Those are like costumes to you. This is my living self. I am a living drag queen. You dress up just now and then, but for me, though, I like the wigs and I wear them almost every day. So, people ask me how many wigs I have, I say, ‘Well, I must have at least 365,’ because I wear one almost every day. But I actually keep my own hair the same color and I just kind of pull it up in little scrunchies around the house. But I still like to put on makeup and have my hair fluffed.”
Now, we know why so many drag queens dress up like her. They want to feel what it is like to walk even a block in her high heels since she is the epitome of what they strive to be.
