Chicago Med is just what the doctor ordered!
November 17th, 2015 under Dick Wolf, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

If you are like me and you have been wanting a medical drama that has the heart of St Elsewhere, ER and Chicago Hope, then Chicago Med is for us. The NBC drama from Dick Wolf debuts on 9p and I haven’t loved a show like this since ER went off the air. It is not like ER, but it has that feel of a real hospital with real doctors dealing with real patients. It is not a soap opera and it doesn’t go over the top with medical disasters.
Having said that, tonight’s episode starts out with a subway that goes off the track injuring several people and some are critical. Lucky for the passengers, Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell), who is the new Head of Trauma at Chicago Med, is on board. He is helping the wounded until help arrives. Once the other medics are there, it is off to the hospital and save as many patients as they can.
Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) will try to save the life of a surrogate, who has suffered a major brain injury in the accident, but the baby is OK and the fetus’ parents have to decide what to do. While they are working her, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) and intern Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) work on another victim from the crash, a young girl who suddenly suffers cardiac arrest in their care.
It is hospital and they have more patients besides the ones in the crash, there is a man who has Cystic Fibrosis and he doesn’t want to be incubated again when he comes in with pneumonia. Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) will do everything they can to convince him otherwise. Will these patients survive?
You just have to tune into to find out. That and to watch a medical drama that is like the great shows in the genre from the ’80s and ’90s. Plus, it is a perfect companion with Chicago Fire. What more do you need on your Tuesday nights?

NBC finds Chicago Fire & PD so arresting, each got another season!
November 10th, 2015 under Dick Wolf, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

NBC announced yesterday at a press event in Chicago yesterday that they picked up Chicago Fire and Chicago PD for another season. The news is really no surprise because NBC’s 10p dramas are on fire. That’s why they picked up 3 of them for another season just weeks after this one began.
Maybe CBS can take a lesson from them because they are really struggling in this timeslot this year.

The making of a Chicago Fire burn victim
April 29th, 2015 under Dick Wolf, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

If you watched Chicago Fire, the first part of the three episode crossover with Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD, then you were probably impressed with the burn victim that was featured on the show. If you thought that was impressive, seeing how makeup and hair made her look that way, will leave you absolutely dumbfounded. There are so many elements that go in to creating that look, it’s truly incredible to see it all come to life like that.
Just like the three episodes where Chicago Fire, Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD try to find her rapist. Tonight at 8p, NBC repeats last night’s Chicago Fire Episode. Then at 9p, Law & Order: SVU takes over the case and Chicago PD finishes it at 10p. Officers from both shows talk to the woman that was raped and severely burned. She gives them some leads who did this to her and now they are off to find him. Since their search is narrowed by where he’s been 10 years ago and today, one of the Chicago Med doctors becomes a suspect. Is he the only one?
Eventually that question will be answered, and someone from Chicago PD will be kidnapped and taken to NYC by the main suspect. Will they get to her in time? You don’t want to miss the conclusion of the three part crossover starting at 8p tonight on NBC to find out.

Dick Wolf’s shows epic crossover begins as The Runner-Up ends!
April 28th, 2015 under Dick Wolf, Esquirer, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 10p on NBC, Chicago Fire starts off the three episode, two night crossover of Dick Wolf’s show on NBC.
The fire department gets sent to a massive building fire and inside they find a woman who has been badly burned in it. When she gets to the hospital, the doctors find out that she was raped and beaten before she was burned. Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Dawson (Monica Raymund) go back into the building and find out the fire was purposely set to hide what really happened.
When Law & Order: SVU‘s Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) reads about what happened, she calls Chicago PD because it sounds like an unsolved case she worked on a decade ago. She flies to Chicago to help with investigation of the rape.
There aren’t too many people that fit the description and also lived in NYC during her case and Chicago now. Eventually they narrow their search down to one man and he kidnaps someone who is one of the three shows and takes her NYC.
Now the NY and Chicago police officers need to find him before he kills again. Will they be able to find the needle in the haystack before it’s too late? You will have to tune in for this suspenseful three episode crossover tonight at 10p and tomorrow at 9p on NBC to find out.
Even though it is a crossover, each show feels to be done by its own people. Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Law & Order: SVU each have their own style and that comes through So fans of each show will still be able to enjoy each episode like they do every week.

Also at 10p tonight but on Esquire, it’s time for the series final of The Runner-Up. It’s almost Election Day and Clay Aiken is going to find out if he will be a US Congressman.
Clay decides to an ad to get people to vote for him. Even though he didn’t want to go negative he decides to listen to his people and do just that. After it runs, they get a call from FactCheck.org that says some of the things in the ad might be accurate. Will that get him in trouble?
Finally, when that is all dealt with, it is finally Election Day. Clay decides to visit the polls personally, but something happens that put that all in jeopardy.
Now it’s time for the results. Things are looking good for him at the beginning of the night, but will it continue?
You just have to tune in for this educational and enjoyable docuseries’ finale to find out. I am sincerely sad this show is ending.

It’s hellish on Hell’s Kitchen and Chicago Fire tonight!
March 3rd, 2015 under Dick Wolf, Gordon Ramsay, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Hell’s Kitchen is back on Fox tonight at 9p for its 14th season. You would think after all of these years that the contestants would know what Gordon Ramsay wants, but they don’t. One contestant actually served him spaghetti and marinara sauce, and the sauce came from a jar. The woman who prepared that meal for him is just one of the many characters we have to look forward to this season. There’s another person on the show this season who will ask him if they can use the bathroom as he is describing what they can expect from that night’s dinner service.
Those are just two of the examples of what is going to happen this season. According to the preview video we can expect a whole lot more. That’s why this show is beginning its 14th season and counting.

From one fire to another, Chicago Fire is back on NBC tonight at 10p and Chief Boden is not. That means that Chief Pridgen (Matthew Del Negro) is still in charge and no one likes him. Pridgen has found out that Casey (Jesse Spencer) is dating his ex-wife, and he is going after him even harder than he was before.
When they are called out to a fire, they are informed that a there is a little girl is trapped on the third floor by the building manager. As they are preparing to get her out, another woman comes running up to the chief and says her uncle fell and hurt his ankle. The chief orders Casey to go take care of that man a few blocks away and leave the scene of the fire. The remaining firefighters are able to rescue the little girl, but what they don’t know is that building manager went back inside to rescue her. When the fire becomes too powerful, he is thrown out of the third story window and is now in critical condition because of it.
Now there is an investigation into what happened and it is a he said/he said thing with the powers to be who are siding with the chief. Will Engine 51 be able to convince them that the chief is at fault or will someone else take the fall for his mess up? You don’t want to miss this tense and exciting episode to see what happens.
