How did Tony Parker’s Nov. 30 marriage proposal to Eva Longoria go down? "It was a big surprise!" Longoria tells PEOPLE in its new issue. "I was heading home from a long day on the (Desperate Housewives) set. He had been playing in Utah, so I was just shocked to see him in L.A. I thought it was so weird, sort of, ‘Why are you here? What’s going on? Oh my God! It’s happening!’ " There at Longoria’s home in the early-morning hours, surrounded by rose petals and candles, Parker fell to one knee – "I’m a traditional guy," he says – and, having already told both of their families, popped the question. "I cried my eyes out," says Longoria. "I was mostly touched by how nervous he was. I was like, ‘You know I’m going to say yes. Why are you so nervous?’ But I guess every man gets nervous at that point." No way, says Parker: "I knew it was right. We’ve been talking for months about it, and I just knew. It was time." And so it went that the Texas-bred actress, 31, and the French-raised San Antonio Spurs point guard, 24, took their two-year relationship to the next level – something they quickly celebrated with close friends, who gathered at Longoria’s L.A. home soon after the proposal. Beverly Hills jewelry designer Jean Dousset, a friend of the couple, designed Longoria’s five-carat-plus emerald-cut diamond ring with Parker. It boasts an impressive 247 accenting diamonds. Naturally, it didn’t take the actress long to start spreading the news among her Wisteria Lane neighbors. "Marcia (Cross) and Felicity (Huffman) and I are really, really close," she says. "Telling them was really exciting."

Eva Longoria’s wedding date has been accidentally revealed. Brenda Strong, Longoria’s Desperate Housewives co-star, inadvertently let slip that the date coincides with her own wedding anniversary, saying: "The great news is that her wedding date is one day before our anniversary, so we’ll get to actually spend our anniversary with them in Paris." Longoria and fiancee Tony Parker announced their engagement last week, after the basketball star proposed on Wednesday. The couple revealed they planned to marry in Paris next summer, but refused to name the actual date.

Eva Longoria and NBA star Tony Parker are engaged, PEOPLE has confirmed. "Eva and Tony are officially engaged," Longoria’s rep, Liza Anderson, tells PEOPLE. "The couple have never been happier." Longoria, 31, and the French-born Parker, 24, a point guard for the San Antonio Spurs, met in November 2004. Though they played coy at first, by August 2005, the Desperate Housewives star confirmed they were a couple, asking PEOPLE rhetorically, "What’s not to like?" The pair weathered a brief split in September but quickly rekindled their relationship in Paris. The couple took in the sights, partied at the VIP Room and dined at the famed Le Coupe-Chou in the City of Light. Longoria told PEOPLE in April she is happiest when in a relationship – and said she expects to stay with Parker "forever."

Teri Hatcher reportedly infuriated the crew and stylists on the set of ‘Desperate Housewives’ by refusing to film her scenes until she could wear her favourite shoes. The actress allegedly threw a tantrum when she was told a specific pair of designer Jimmy Choos shoes were not available for her to wear. Despite having 37 different pairs to choose from, Teri didn’t like any of the footwear on offer and demanded staff get her the style she wanted. A source told Britain’s Mail On Sunday newspaper: "The stylist had 37 pairs of shoes but none were right. Teri insisted on a specific pair and when the store the company uses could not provide them Teri got a runner to collect a similar pair from her home."

LOOK ma, no hands. Or in Nicollette Sheridan’s case yesterday, no bra. Despite making the long haul from Los Angeles to hawk Hestia boulder holders, the Desperate Housewives star went without one herself, leaving the product placement to two "support’’ players, who lounged about in their underwear on the rooftop of the Park Hyatt hotel. Wearing a strappy lace micro mini dress, Sheridan was the effervescent guest of honour at a lunch for Sydney’s leading women, hooking into the champers as her birthday celebrations kicked on for a third day. Sheridan told Confidential she beat the heat on Wednesday with a dip in Sydney Harbour, after her lingerie bosses hired her a luxury boat as a surprise present. "They’ve been spoiling me rotten and I love them for it,’’ she gushed. Meanwhile, she said her beau Michael Bolton had to cancel his plans to join her, instead hitting the promo trail in London where his new CD has proved quite the hit.
