Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, went through a terrifying medical emergency at the end of yesterday’s performance in Oxon, Maryland.
The head judge on Dancing with the Stars wrote, “At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital, She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniotomy. She is in stable condition.
“I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her. I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time.”
Hopefully, she will recover quickly from this, and they will be able to resume their tour shortly.
The couple has 17 more dates between tonight and the end of the year. Tonight’a show is cancelled, but no word on the remaining dates.
Even though Alfonso Ribeiro was known as The Tap Dance Kid before he moved to Hollywood, he is most known for his Carlton Dance from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
So on Tuesday night, when he was reunited with Witney Carson, who was his pro-partner when he won Dancing with the Stars, they decided to do a dance to the theme song from Fresh Prince. And guess what? There was no Carlton involved.
Such a sacrilege. Even if their short routine was spectacular.
When you think of Ribeiro, which dance stage of his comes to your mind? Since we grew up in the same hometown, he will always be The Tap Dance Kid to me even though I have seen him do breakdancing before he danced with Michael Jackson.
Tonight at 8p on ABC, it is time for the Dancing with the Stars season finale. Along with dancing, finalist Jason Mraz is going to sing his happy tune I Feel Like Dancing.
The singer is not the only one who is going to be doing double duty tonight. Val Chmerkovskiy revealed that he is going to showcase his violin skills during the 3-hour finale.
The professional dancer shared the above video and wrote, “Invest in your kids and expose them to art. They’ll grow up into adults with a roster of party tricks. I’ll be playing this tomorrow on #DWTS finale, don’t miss us, and please vote #TeamXV”
Amazing, I am going to watch just to see him do that because that is just beautiful. I wonder what instrument his brother Maxsim plays. Besides the one ivory flute! Sorry, I had to!
Yesterday was the semifinals of Dancing with the Stars. And we were expecting the five remaining contestants to go down to four at the end of the show. However, Alfonso Ribeiro revealed in the final moments of the episode that no one was going home and that Alyson Hannigan, Ariana Madix, Xochitl Gomez, Charity Lawson, and (my favorite) Jason Mraz will all be competing in the finals on Tuesday.
If you are a conspiracy theorist, then you would assume that they are doing this because Alyson Hannigan was not the one who was eliminated, and the show’s producers didn’t want to have the finale without the person who was.
You see, Hannigan was the only one who did not get a perfect score for at least one of her dances yesterday. She is also the weakest one of the five. So it would make sense that she would be the one that should have been sent home.
But our theory was wrong. Or at least that is what Ribeiro said on The Talk today. “I felt really bad for Xochitl [Gomez] and Ariana Madix because I knew this was happening for a full week.” He added, “We’re taking over all of primetime for ABC next Tuesday night. So, it’s going to be a super-filled show, and so having five couples is fantastic.”
So, who does the former winner think will win? “They are all so deserving. And I think this season is slightly different than a lot of seasons.” Then he explained in the past, “You’ve got people, and it’s like that’s your winner. Everyone else is playing to see where they finish. Right now, truly, I believe, for many different reasons, any one of them can win. Right, for different reasons. And so, it is really hard when you are seeing them, and you are like, well, who’s got this? Well, they all deserve the opportunity to be there.”
So why should we tune in because yesterday feels like a wash? Ribeiro said that this week’s votes and scores will be calculated with next week’s totals.
And at this point, Gomez is in first place, and Hannigan is in last, with just nine points separating them.
Who do you think will bring home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy? Tell me in the comments.
Last week on Dancing with the Stars, guest judge Billy Porter told Jason Mraz that he found it distracting that the singer mouths the words of the songs he is dancing to.
Well, over the weekend, it appears that Mraz explained why he not only smiles with his hips but also dances with his mouth.
Mraz posted the above video and wrote, “With so much dancing going on, my sister asked if I still knew how to play the guitar. Yes, I still play music! I still have my songwriting practice to keep my heart in tune. Some weeks on the show, I try to learn the song I am dancing to. (Last week was Higher Love.) This little study has helped me appreciate and understand the songs even more, thus deepening the dance around it.”
So, if you are going to play the song on the guitar, chances are you are going to sing along. Therefore, if you hear it, you are going to mouth the words to it too. And for Porter, at least, he didn’t play the air guitar while he was dancing!
Which Taylor Swift song is going to compete with tonight? We will just have to tune into ABC at 8p to find out.
