Alfonso Ribeiro talks about yesterday’s shocking DWTS elimination
November 29th, 2023 under Alfonso Ribeiro, Dancing with the Stars. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday was the semifinals of Dancing with the Stars. And we were expecting the five remaining contestants to go down to four at the end of the show. However, Alfonso Ribeiro revealed in the final moments of the episode that no one was going home and that Alyson Hannigan, Ariana Madix, Xochitl Gomez, Charity Lawson, and (my favorite) Jason Mraz will all be competing in the finals on Tuesday.

If you are a conspiracy theorist, then you would assume that they are doing this because Alyson Hannigan was not the one who was eliminated, and the show’s producers didn’t want to have the finale without the person who was.

You see, Hannigan was the only one who did not get a perfect score for at least one of her dances yesterday. She is also the weakest one of the five. So it would make sense that she would be the one that should have been sent home.

But our theory was wrong. Or at least that is what Ribeiro said on The Talk today. “I felt really bad for Xochitl [Gomez] and Ariana Madix because I knew this was happening for a full week.” He added, “We’re taking over all of primetime for ABC next Tuesday night. So, it’s going to be a super-filled show, and so having five couples is fantastic.”

So, who does the former winner think will win? “They are all so deserving. And I think this season is slightly different than a lot of seasons.” Then he explained in the past, “You’ve got people, and it’s like that’s your winner. Everyone else is playing to see where they finish. Right now, truly, I believe, for many different reasons, any one of them can win. Right, for different reasons. And so, it is really hard when you are seeing them, and you are like, well, who’s got this? Well, they all deserve the opportunity to be there.”

So why should we tune in because yesterday feels like a wash? Ribeiro said that this week’s votes and scores will be calculated with next week’s totals.

And at this point, Gomez is in first place, and Hannigan is in last, with just nine points separating them.

Who do you think will bring home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy? Tell me in the comments.

So that is why Jason Mraz dances with his mouth?
November 21st, 2023 under Dancing with the Stars, Jason Mraz. [ Comments: none ]

Last week on Dancing with the Stars, guest judge Billy Porter told Jason Mraz that he found it distracting that the singer mouths the words of the songs he is dancing to.

Well, over the weekend, it appears that Mraz explained why he not only smiles with his hips but also dances with his mouth.

Mraz posted the above video and wrote, “With so much dancing going on, my sister asked if I still knew how to play the guitar. Yes, I still play music! I still have my songwriting practice to keep my heart in tune. Some weeks on the show, I try to learn the song I am dancing to. (Last week was Higher Love.) This little study has helped me appreciate and understand the songs even more, thus deepening the dance around it.”

So, if you are going to play the song on the guitar, chances are you are going to sing along. Therefore, if you hear it, you are going to mouth the words to it too. And for Porter, at least, he didn’t play the air guitar while he was dancing!

Which Taylor Swift song is going to compete with tonight? We will just have to tune into ABC at 8p to find out.

Dancing with the Stars’ Xóchitl Gómez sprained her ankle
November 7th, 2023 under Dancing with the Stars. [ Comments: none ]

Xóchitl Gómez is one of this season’s top contestants on Dancing with the Stars, and she might have some problems performing. That is because the 17-year-old actress sprained her ankle during rehearsal this week.

She posted the video of when it happened and wrote, “This shiiii is BANANAS! im good tho! A lil sprain but WE WORKIN! #teamxv #dwts #teamyoungnstyle”

She is not going to let it stop her, and she vows to go on tonight.

I wish her luck. I sprained my ankle twice in the last four years, and it hurts to walk on it. I couldn’t even imagine dancing on it like she is.

Dancing with the Stars is doing a Taylor Swift night
November 6th, 2023 under Dancing with the Stars, Taylor Swift. [ Comments: none ]

A month ago, Peta Murgatroyd accidentally let it slip that Dancing with the Stars is going to do a Taylor Swift night, and today, the ABC dancing competition show confirmed it.

The six remaining couples will be Swifties on November 21st. Mandy Moore (the choreographer, not the actress), who is the lead choreographer of the Taylor Swift The Eras Tour, will be the fourth judge on the episode.

What songs do you want to see them dance to? My Swiftie niece will have a lot of suggestions, as will a lot of other people!

Swift isn’t the only singer getting a night of her own. Next week, the seven couples will want to dance with somebody to the music of Whitney Houston.

What did Alfonso Ribeiro say Will Smith can’t do?
October 27th, 2023 under Alfonso Ribeiro, Dancing with the Stars, E!, Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

We know Will Smith can slap someone older and smaller than him. But there is something he can’t do, and Alfonso Ribeiro told E! News’ Adrienne Bailon what it is

When the Dancing with the Star host was asked who he wanted to compete on the dancing competition, he said Will Smith. So Bailon wanted to know why he wants his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to do it. “How much fun would it be that I get to watch Will Smith be bad at something,” he said. “Will can’t dance. I have seen Will, and he can’t dance.”

And that is a massive statement coming from the guy who gave us The Carlton.

Although, I won’t criticize the DWTS champ’s dance moves. Not because he won, but my JHS alum originated the role in The Tap Dance Kid on Broadway and danced with Michael Jackson in a Pepsi commercial.

Back to Smith’s lack of dancing skills. Now it looks like we know why Jada Pinkett Smith sought another lover. Too soon?
