Before Brad Dourif was executed by the state in Chucky, he was trying to execute himself in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The 24-year-old gave an extraordinary performance in that 1975 movie.

Chucky is not what I expected, and it’s better than I could’ve hoped it to be
October 12th, 2021 under Chucky. [ Comments: 1 ]

My father raised me on Horror movies, so I have been watching Chucky since I was a kid. I have seen all of the movies, including the sh!tty reboot, and I even had a doll in his image in college. So when I heard that Chucky’s creator Don Mancini was bringing his creation to USA and Syfy as a series, I was cautiously optimistic about it. Then I saw the first four episodes, and I am in love with where Mancini is taking Child’s Play to with the show.

I was expecting it to be a full-on slasher Horror movie for each episode. But that is not the case. Instead, there is a story that will cause to get invested in these characters, including Charles Lee Ray’s youth. Something that has not been explored in the franchise before now.

The series begins with teenage Jake (Zackary Arthur) buying Chucky (Brad Dourif) at a yard sale. Jake is a loner with an abusive alcoholic father whose mom died several years ago, and he is bullied by most of the kids in his middle school class. He also has a cousin in class who is popular and a huge dick. Since he is a loner, he spends his time taking apart dolls and turning them into a piece of art. Chucky is just one more doll for his passion.

One night, Jake’s father, Lucas (Devon Sawa), invites his perfect twin brother (Devon Sawa) over for dinner with his wife Bree (Lexa Doig) and their dick of a son, Junior (Teo Briones). Junior makes fun of his cousin and tells everyone at the table that Jake is gay.

Lucas being the macho a$$hole that he is, can’t handle that his son is gay. Therefore, he goes to Jake’s bedroom and destroy’s his doll masterpiece. Lucas tells him that his son can no longer have any dolls in his house. So, Jake decides to bring his last doll to school with him so that he can hide it from his dad until he can sell it.

Junior’s girlfriend, Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), is a bigger bitch than he is a dick. When she finds out that Jake is selling Chucky, she does something awful to him. That puts her on Chucky’s kill list.

She is not the only one on his list, and one by one, Chucky will be killing his friend to the end’s enemies. I have to admit; you are rooting for Chucky to take them out. Who knew murder could be a good thing in Horror?

So, as you can tell, this is not the franchise we knew. There are a lot of emotions that come with the series. You will laugh, you will scream, and you will cry. Yes, I cried.

I didn’t know that Horror could play out this way, but it can. And I like that. I also like where the show is going, and it is so much more than what I wrote about the first episode. I don’t want to jump too far ahead because we should focus on one episode at a time. Actually, it is more like we should savor each episode because that is what you will do with them.

Chucky is everything I wanted with the story, the writing, and the acting. I just didn’t know it was what I wanted until I saw it.

Chucky is your latest addiction, so make sure to watch it every Tuesday at 10p on USA and Syfy.

Halloween is coming early this year because Chucky, the television series, is debuting on SYFY and USA on October 12th. So mark your calendars because you don’t want to miss our favorite killer doll killing people on a weekly basis.

Especially since his Geppetto, Don Mancini. is the man behind the series. Not only is he involved with the show, so is Chucky’s Bride, Jennifer Tilly.

It is going to be a long three months, but it will be like Christmas in October when the show finally debuts.

Chucky will be killing it on the small screen

Last year, Chucky was back with a reboot, and it was atrocious. Thankfully, the killer doll’s dad, Don Mancini, reunited with his creation for Syfy and USA Network. Today, we are getting the first look at the series that is going to be so killer; it needs to air on two networks.

What can we expect from the small screen version of Child’s Play? The press release says, “In the new CHUCKY television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”

Just when we thought that 2021 was going to be so much better than this year, we have another reason to look forward to it. That reason is an innocent looking red head doll that is guilty as hell.

Toy Story 4 annihilated Child’s Play
June 24th, 2019 under Chucky, Movies. [ Comments: none ]

This weekend, it was Toy Story 4 versus Child’s Play at the box office. Before they went head-to-head in the theater, Chucky was off with their heads. You know, because that is what he does.

Well, they had the last laugh. Not because the sequel made a killing with $121 million as compared to the remake’s mere $14 million. It is because the surviving toys actually did a Chucky and killed him! No offense Mark Hamill, but he totally deserved it. He is not Don Mancini’s Chucky. That is the only killer redhead doll creator’s creation I care about.
