Back in January, it was announced that Cher was going to star in a movie about the Flint water crisis for Lifetime and today she says that she has dropped out of the film.
She sent Deadline this statement about her sudden departure, “This has been a project so near and dear to my heart and I was truly looking forward to helping tell this story. Then she added, “Unfortunately, I will be unable to leave Los Angeles during the scheduled filming as I am dealing with a serious family issue that prevents me from going on location for the April filming. I’m so glad that Craig and Neil plan to move ahead and I know that this Lifetime movie will be done beautifully.”
We don’t know what that family emergency is and who it is that is preventing her from going to go to Toronto.
What is interesting, Cher has been performing several shows in Maryland this month, including last night and will do two more this weekend, and has yet to cancel any of those dates. She is also slated to return to Las Vegas in May for another residency and as of now those shows are still going on as planned. Which makes you wonder what is the true story? Is it just that she decided she didn’t want to do the movie after all?
I love Cher, but this is not helping her when it comes to the tabloid reports that she is on her deathbed. I mean, she isn’t because she has done several concerts this year and no one said said she looked like death. Therefore, I really want to know the true story is because inquiring minds want to know. On that note, I am sure the National Enquirer is already on it.
It has been almost 28 years since Cher released If I Could Turn Back Time, and the 70 year old can still wear the same outfit she wore in that memorable music video. She doesn’t have to turn back time because it is still on her side as you can see from last night’s performance in Vegas.
For all those people who say she is on her deathbed, I think this is visual proof that she is not. Don’t you agree!
It has been over a half century since I Got You Babe came out and James Corden decided to modernize the song with Cher. Yesterday on The Late Late Show they sang I Got You Bae and I think it can be an instant hit for the Millennials. It is totally in their language.
But how did the huge hit, that we still sing today, come about? Cher told the CBS late night host that Sonny Bono would write music for them to sing all the time. He woke her one night to see how it sounded and she wasn’t impressed. So unimpressed, she went back to sleep when she was done. Thankfully it was still a dream song for Bono and the rest is musical history.
That song wasn’t the only song she was underwhelmed about, she also revealed she didn’t like Turn Back Time when she first heard it. Songwriter Dianne Warren, who wrote it, was willing to pay Cher to sing and that was all the convincing she needed. Imagine if she didn’t, we would have to Turn Back Time to convince her to do it. Otherwise it would be next week on Timeless… Shhhh, I know that is completely opposite of the NBC show, but play along with me. Is that too much to ask for when Quantum Leap was cancelled before its time. We need a new time traveling show where they can change the past and travel back to a time in their own lifetime to make it work.
Back when Anthony Kiedis was 12 years old, Cher used to babysit him. This fact was so interesting to James Corden that he has to know more about that on The Late Late Show. Thus, the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s was willing to give it away, give it away, give it away now, the details that is. He said, “When you are 12, you don’t know how old adults are. But she was fit and fine. I had just hit that hormonal plateau. Just touching it, I wasn’t all into it.” Then he added, “We hung out, slept in her bed. Actually watched her through the crack of the bathroom door getting ready for bed. I was like in my jammies, getting ready to get some zzzz and she liked dropped her negligee and I was just like OK, this is happening now.” While this is a memory that will forever stay with him, she doesn’t remember it. If only she could turn back time.
Because back then when the Oscar winner was 28 years old, her marriage to Sonny Bono was on the rocks and the preteen would grow up to look a lot like her late ex-husband.
Imagine the duets they could’ve sang together. They would’ve made some sweet sweet music together like the Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves that they are.
For months there have been rumors that Cher is near death; but in this photo that she posted yesterday I think she looks very healthy and more importantly fabulous. In fact, I think the 68 year old looks like she’s turned back time. Her mom was right, she doesn’t need any makeup.
BTW can you believe her mom is 87 years young? Now you know why Cher is looking decades younger than she really is, it’s all in the genes.
