CBS has 8 comedies, more procedurals than I care to count and 2 medical dramas. But that is all about to change. Come this Spring both Code Black and Pure Genius are off the lineup. The freshman show is no surprise, but the sophomore one is. It seemed like adding Rob Lowe was helping them, but I guess not enough. Making it look like CBS is signing a DNR for it.
Another surprise is the overrated McGuyver will not air in May. That is normally a sign that show won’t be back for another season. Anything can happen because I would be surprised if they bring back Elementary for a 6th season. I am shocked that Doubt, a legal drama, didn’t get the Sunday at 10p slot. It is a perfect fit with Madam Secretary. Much better than with Criminal Minds, but what do I know. On the Criminal Minds front, where is that spinoff Beyond Borders?
When it comes to Training Day, it is the only pilot I shut off after 5 minutes and won’t be tuning in to see how it ends.
Oh and here is the new lineup with all of the changes. How do you feel about it?

Ever since The Odd Couple premiered in 2015, CBS has not done much to promote it. The first season it did OK. The second it did much better. So much so, that it shocked everyone and CBS ordered a third season.
Well the show that that spent it first two season as midseason replacement, debuted in the Fall this going around. It took a hit in the ratings. It was a big enough hit that CBS will only air the 13 episodes they ordered and not order any more new episodes for this year. Does that mean the Matthew Perry/Thomas Lennon starrer will not be back for a fourth season? Deadline says it is too early to tell.
Ever since Yes Dear, there has been one spare comedy that CBS keeps for filler. There’s been that one, Rules of Engagement and Mike & Molly. With all of those shows gone, I think that The Odd Couple should be their timeslot filler.
I love the show and it is the only CBS comedy that makes me laugh every week. If you haven’t seem it, you should check it out Mondays at 9:30p before it is too late.

CBS picked up Man with a Plan and The Great Indoors for a full season today. The two sitcoms join Kevin Can Wait, Bull and McGuyver that already got that order. The only show awaiting its fate is Pure Genius and you don’t have to be a genius to know what that means. Although none of CBS’s 10p shows are doing that well, so you never know.
CBS wasn’t the only ones giving out good news, HBO asked for seconds seasons from Westworld, Divorce and Insecure. Jeez, HBO adds Sesame Street to their lineup and now their shows can only have one word in the title.
