Young Sheldon needs a hobby, Evil deals with the purest of evils
October 17th, 2019 under CBS, Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTlyt7mrgB4
Tonight at 8p on CBS, Young Sheldon is still dealing with finding out that his mentor Dr. Sturgis has been institutionalized at a mental hospital. To distract himself from it all, he is focusing all of his energy on solving a scientific problem. So much so, he does not care about anything else.

His mom (Zoe Perry) is worried about her son (Iain Armitage), so she and his MeeMaw (Annie Potts) tell him to find a new hobby. They try everything from exercise to the Church, and it does not work for him. He finally finds his newest addiction on his own and it is Lord of the Rings. He is so obsessed with it, he will drive everyone else crazy. What will they do?

Meanwhile, Sheldon’s sister (Raegan Revord) has a crush on a boy and she asks her father (Lance Barber) to help get him to like her. The two will finally bond which is really sweet to watch. However, is it sweet enough for her to land that boy?

Tonight’s episode proves that Revord is going to grow up to be a great little actress. Same with her older TV brother Montana Jordan. Actually, the whole cast really does a great job and that is why we keep tuning every week.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfhu4sxOGPw
Then at 10p, tonight’s episode of Evil is really f*cked up. Yet, having said that, it is the series’ best episode yet.

Psychologist Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), Chruch employee David Acosta (Mike Colter) and technical expert (Aasif Mandvi) are called in to investigate a boy that his parents believe might be possessed.

Two years ago, their oldest child went from a sweet child to a psychopath. The 9-year-old tried to poison his parents and he is obsessed with killing his baby sister. He has attacked her a few times, so her parents are afraid for her life. They have tried everything to make their son better and nothing has worked.

That is why they have finally called the Church in to see if maybe an exorcism might work. Before they can perform one, they have to make sure he is possessed. They will examine him, his surroundings and his parents to see what is causing him to be pure evil.

Can they figure out what is wrong with him before it is too late? All I will say is you are going to want to find out. This episode is very dark, but it is also very well done.

Evil is the best new drama of the season. It is creepy but it is also really interesting. Check it out, it will possess you…

A lady takes over Gd Friended Me, Madam Secretary becomes President
October 6th, 2019 under CBS, Gd Friended Me. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf1ZmgK64mE
Last week on Gd Friended Me, Gd friended Joy. However, when the episode ended, Gd sent Miles (Brandon Micheal Hall) a message telling him to find the lady. Who is that lady? Tonight at 8p (or after football and 60 Minutes), they will try to find out that answer in two different countries.

Before Miles can look into that, Joy (Jessica Lu) gets a new person that needs their help. A self-help speaker who is hiding a secret that is about to come back and haunt him. Joy and Miles have different ways of approaching the situation and it is going to make things worse. Will they be able to work together or will they destroy the lives they are trying to fix?

Miles does not only have to help a stranger, but he also has to help his sister and his father. Arthur (Joe Morton) has been keeping a secret from Ali (Javicia Leslie) to protect her. Turns out she knew along but never told her dad she knew. The secret was so devastating to her, it caused her to leave the church. Something that is hard for her dad to handle. Will Miles be able to bring them back together?

Talking about getting back together, Cara (Violett Beane) is trying to get Simon Hayes (Adam Goldberg) back together with her friend Annie (Susan Misner). The two had a falling out and he ruined her career. Even though Annie hates Simon, she is willing to work with him to help Cara solve the lady clue. They get some help to where the lady might be when they get some tips from where Gd sent her a Facebook message five years ago telling her Cara’s mom is in NY. What will the three of them find together?

Tune in for another touching episode of the drama. I wish there were more shows like this one on television these days. We need more wholesome shows on the boob tube and less violent ones.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqF6vktWG1E
Then at 10p, Madam Secretary is back for its final season. Or should we call it Madam President since Bess (Téa Leoni) is now the President of the United States?

The episode goes back in forth in time showing us what she had to do to get the job, getting the job and everything that goes along with it. A lot of what happens feels a lot like we have been going through for the last several years with Trump. Bess’ opponent is a lot like Trump. However, unlike the man in the White House, a scandal brings him down. A scandal that will come back to haunt her.

Being President is not easy, but she has good people helping her out. Although someone does not want their job and will remind her every chance they get.

How will life Bess’ life change now that she is Commander-in-Chief? We will have to tune in every week to find out.

Did Gd unFriended Me? The Rookie is ready is for stage 2
September 29th, 2019 under CBS, Gd Friended Me, Nathan Fillion, Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

https://youtu.be/gH0tWxup9gk
Gd Friended Me is back on CBS at 8p, but is he still friends with Miles (Brandon Micheal Hall)? When we last left off, Joy told Miles that someone calling himself Gd told her to find him. What does that mean for the show?

The episode picks up a month after the season finale. Miles is doing his podcast. Cara (Violett Beane) is enjoying life in France working on Simon Hayes (Adam Goldberg) book with him. Rakesh (Suraj Sharma) is busy with his promotion. There is just one thing missing from their lives. Their old friend Gd.

Gd has not been busy. He has not contacted Miles nor Joy since that day. Joy still wants nothing to do with it, so it works out for her. However, Gd sends a little message to Miles and he meets up with Joy. Before Miles sees her, he runs into a soldier. That same soldier’s ID was sent to Joy.

Can Miles convince her to help this soldier? Why does he need help? Will Gd friend Miles again? You have to watch to find out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB0ccpa9eFQ
Then at 10p on ABC, Nathan Fillion is The Rookie. When we last left off the Wilshire Division were dealing with a terrorist attack that left them all changed.

Tonight’s episode takes place two weeks later and they are ready to get back to work. Plus, the rookies want to know their test scores. Before they can get their results, they have to do a beat.

Sergeant Gray (Richard T. Jones) assigns himself to ride with Nolan (Fillion). The two find themselves in the middle of a robbery that will put everyone in the city at risk. All cops will have to be on the lookout for these subjects.

Bradford (Eric Winter) is better and tougher than he was before. If Chen (Melissa O’Neil) thought things were bad before, they are going to get worse for her. He is not going to let up on her. Why is he being so tough on her?

Finally, it is time for them to get their test results and someone is not going to advance to the next stage. Who will it be?

The Rookie does not start off slow and that is a good thing for a show that is no longer a rookie.

Carol’s Second Act is what the doctor ordered, Evil is the best Sci-Fi show in ages
September 26th, 2019 under CBS, Patricia Heaton, Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo1h9heXZ1M
Patricia Heaton is back on TV tonight at 9:30p in the comedy Carol’s Second Act. When she played Debra on Everybody Loves Raymond, she was, well, grumpy. The same when she played Frankie Heck on The Middle. I am not knocking it, she was great in both roles. However, in this CBS show, she is very happy. She is a positive force who gets to smile in a hospital. Which sounds bad when I write it like that, but it works when you see it.

Carol Kenney (Heaton) is a recently divorced, middle-aged woman, who just graduated medical school. Tonight is her first day as an intern in a hospital. Something you rarely see, because who would start med school anytime they are over 25? Carol Kenney is who.

When she shows up to work, her fellow interns think she is their resident. You should see their reaction when they find out she is not. Especially since they all heard that the Chief Resident Dr. Maya Jacobs (Ito Aghayere) is the complete opposite. How will she react to her peppy new intern? With torture!

When it comes to her fellow interns, there is Daniel Kutcher (Jean-Luc Bilodeau). He graduated from Harvard and thinks he is ready for anything. Turns out he is just book smart and finds out he might not be as ready for the job as he thought. Thankfully, he is not alone and his new co-workers will help him.

Lexie Gilani (Sabrina Jalees) is another intern, she is more street smart. She is also there to keep everyone in check. Basically, she is there to make fun of their failures. Next week, she has a lot of fun with Kutcher. This week, she picks on Caleb Sommers (Lucas Neff). His family is well known at the hospital, so everyone knows him. Lexie finds out something about him and she is not going to let him live it down.

Back to Carol, she is a former teacher and also a mother (her daughter, played by Ashley Tisdale, is a pharmaceutical rep who sells to the hospital). Carol is going to act like a teacher and a mother to her fellow intern and the patients. Her past work and life experience makes her a better doctor. Something Dr. Jacobs sees about the intern, but that doesn’t mean she likes it.

Each week, they are going to learn more about being doctors and know they have each other’s backs during the toughest times in their lives.

There has not been a good medical sitcom in a while and this show is the two aspirins we need to feel better.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLs-8cbisQQ
After Carol’s Second Act, it is time to do a 360 with Evil at 10p, a new drama from Robert King & Michelle King, who gave us The Good Wife and The Good Fight. This is not a legal drama, far from it.

Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) is a court psychologist is focused on the scientific explanation for everything. Her latest subject says he is possessed and she does not believe him. David Acosta (Mike Colter) is studying to be a priest but gets derailed from it by the Church to explain the supernatural. He is called in to look at Bouchard’s patient to see if it is true.

When Kristen won’t follow an instruction from the lawyer, who hired her, she loses her job. That is when David asks her to work with him. She tries to see if her patient is really possessed or if he is faking it. She goes in to talk with him, and this time there is something more evil about him. So evil, she walks out.

No one wants to take their work home with them, but evil is following her in her sleep. She starts dreaming about a scary creature and her patient tells her that he knows about him without her ever telling him. The creature is not only revealing himself to her but also to her daughters. Has working with the Church brought evil into her house? Or is there another explanation for the visions?

Will it make her want to work with David? Of course, she does, or we would not have a show. She and David also work with Ben Shroff (Aasif Mandvi), a carpenter who looks to see if there is a natural explanation for whatever case they are looking into.

Each week, they will try to find out if a miracle is a really a miracle or if people are really possessed or is someone controlling them? Sometimes the cause is supernatural other times it is explainable. They are just going to have to work to prove the truth and come up with a solution for each case.

Most Sci-Fi shows have a great pilot and immediately go to crap by the second one. Evil’s pilot is good. However, after watching the next three episodes, I can tell you they get so much better. I cannot remember the last time that this happened. The second and fourth episodes are especially good. Not only that, they are all very different.

While there is the procedural aspect to it, there are also some continuing storylines throughout the series like Kristen’s evil spirit taking over her house and what made David stop wanting to be a priest. Another character we will see throughout is played by Michael Emerson. I will not tell you what he does, but I will tell you he is so creepy he will give you nightmares.

I guess in a way, you might say the show will do the same. I won’t, you might. I cannot wait to see what they do next because this my favorite new drama of the fall. I am instantly hooked and I think you will be too.

All Rise for Bob ❤️ Abishola
September 23rd, 2019 under CBS, Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

https://youtu.be/yw9dEFIaLfY
Today is the start of the 2019-2020 season on broadcast TV. CBS starts it off at 8p the second season of The Neighborhood. Then at 8:30p, Chuck Lorre has a new show called Bob ❤️ Abishola. It is a story of two people meeting and one of them falling in love with the other one.

Bob (Billy Gardell) is rushed to the hospital with a heart attack. While he is recovering in his hospital bed, he meets Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku) a nurse for Nigeria. She is the first thing he sees when he wakes up and it is love at first sight. He just loves the way she says his name.

Bob is the boss of his family sock business in Detroit. He says they are the best socks and he wants to give Abishola a few pairs. Unfortunately, she is not there. Therefore, he bribes someone to get her address.

When a white man shows up at her house, her aunt (Shola Adewusi) and uncle (Barry Shabaka Henley) want to know why he is there. Eventually, Abishola comes to the door, takes the socks and he leaves. Her husband left her and went back to Nigeria, she has a son (Barry Shabaka Henley), she’s going to school and she works. She does not have time for anything else.

Bob is not going to give up and neither is her family. Her aunt and uncle see dollar signs, but will Abishola see ❤️? We are just going to have to tune in each week to find out.

I have some Nigerian friends, so I told them to watch because they do not see themselves represented on television at all. At least not in scripted. While I think they will enjoy it, I think other immigrants will too.

You don’t have to be an immigrant to like it, although almost all of us are immigrants (4 generations or less). This show is very much Chuck Lorre. Some crude humor, lots of jokes and most importantly a lot of heart.

After watching three episodes, I am in ❤️ with Bob ❤️ Abishola. You will be too!

Then at 9p, All Rise for CBS’s newest legal drama. Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick) is ready to begin her first day as a judge. To say it does not start off well is an understatement.

She notices that the defendant does not have any pants on and wants to know why no one has given this woman any pants to wear. After questioning the judge, the lawyers and the baliffs, one of them just loses it. They take out a gun and start shooting. The shooter is killed.

Everyone gets a month off and now it is time for Lola to offically begin her job as a judge. Sherri (Ruthie Ann Miles), her perfectionist, know-it-all judicial assistant is there to offer advice but Lola does not want to take it. She should because Sherri knows what she is doing.

When Lola finally gets into the courtroom, she sees the same defendant from her first day back in court. Lola is going to do what she can to help this woman. She is a new judge, so she cares about the people in her courtoom.

That includes her lawyers and friends. Emily Lopez (Jessica Camacho) is a tough woman who fights for her clients. Together her an Lola are unstoppable, until they need to be stopped. Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel) is also her friend and the two of them have a yin/yang type relationship.

Lola meanwhile is enjoying her newfound power. Being the judge is fun and she is going to savor every moment.

Each week, they will be hearing different cases. They are not going to let the legal system get them down, they are going to use to help the people in their courtrooms.

The best way to describe All Rise, it is like if Night Court is a Shonda Rhimes drama. A judge who cares but she is also cool. It feels a lot like We The People but with the judge being the focal point.
