Rules of Engament premieres tonight on CBS!
February 19th, 2007 under CBS, David Spade. [ Comments: none ]

When I read that CBS was adding a new comedy on Mondays at 9:30p, I was like yay they are moving Christine to Wednesdays! That was not the case because Christine (why is she getting nominated?) was taking over The Class timeslot. Then I read who was going to be in the cast, David Spade (love him!) and Patrick Warburton (how funny is he) and Oliver Hudson (how hot is he!) and Megyn Price (great on Grounded for Life) and I thought wow this should be funny! Then I saw a preview of the show and all that changed.
Rules of Engagement is like Fox’s ‘Til Death with a Barney from How I Met Your Mother.  While I like both shows, I do not like them mixed together on this one. David Spade is ok, but I am not sure if it is him or the script that is not working for him. Patrick Warburton is way too stiff for this role, but it could be because I am already watching Brad Garrett do the same thing with a little more life? Oliver Hudson needs to grow his hair back because like Samson his hair is his strength. Sadly Megyn Price is underused.
I have seen the first three episodes of the show and I am just not feeling it yet. But then again I hated The Class when I first saw it and now it is one of my favorite shows of the season!
So I say to all of you check out Rules of Engagement on CBS at 9:30p and tell me what you think because like Life cereal…try it, you might like it!

GO BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE HIT COMEDY SERIES “THE CLASS”

AT CBS.COM

Attention, fans!  It’s time to go to class.  “The Class,” that is.  Warner Bros. Television and CBS Interactive invite viewers to experience, for the first time ever, a pair of live events that will provide a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the process of producing an original episode of a major network television series.

            First Stop: The Table Read

On Monday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. PT, fans can go to www.cbs.com to watch a live webcast of the cast, producers and writers of “The Class” participating in a “table read” of an upcoming episode.  The table read marks the first day of production on a half-hour multi-camera comedy, offering the actors their first opportunity to work on scenes together and giving the director, writers and producers instant feedback on how the episode is received by an audience.  The table read is traditionally followed by rehearsal on Tuesday, leading to the first complete rehearsal performance of the episode on stage on Wednesday.  And CBS.com will be there, too.

            The Run-Thru: Halfway There

On Wednesday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m. PT, fan can catch a second live webcast at www.cbs.com to watch the run-thru.  Traditionally, this full-episode rehearsal process takes place behind closed doors, but this exclusive event takes viewers directly inside the world of this fresh new comedy series—live and uncut.

“The Class”—from comedy kings David Crane (“Friends”) & Jeffrey Klarik (“Mad About You”), along with veteran director/executive producer James Burrows (“Taxi,” “Cheers”)—follows a group of former third-grade classmates whose lives become inextricably bound together after they reunite 20 years later.  The series stars Andrea Anders, Jon Bernthal, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Heather Goldenhersh, Sean Maguire and Jason Ritter, and it comes from craneklarik productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Don’t forget to watch “The Class” Mondays at 8:30 p.m. on the CBS Television Network.

I think this is a great idea! I have always wanted to see a table read and this is a great way to do so!!! Plus I love the show!

“The Class” expells Lucy Punch
January 12th, 2007 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

We have breaking news about, and not from, Holly Ellenbogen: A CBS spokesperson confirms that Lucy Punch, who played The Class’ high-strung news anchor, is being dropped from the series. In a statement released to TVGuide.com, the freshman sitcom’s executive producers explain, “Due to creative changes, Lucy Punch is no longer a cast member. She is a superb actress and did a fabulous job. We hope to work with her again in the near future.” I guess this is what Jason Ritter meant when he told me they were “reworking some things” with Punch’s character, though Holly’s “colorful” hubby, played by Sam Harris, will apparently stick around.

She was not my favorite character on the show, but what happens to her in the above video is some of the funniest stuff I saw all season. So make sure to watch the whole thing, I promise you it is worth your time. But then again I am sadist.

The Class gets some online extra credit
January 9th, 2007 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Warner Bros. TV is giving auds a chance to watch an upcoming episode of "The Class" on the internet–even before the episode’s actually been taped. In what appears to be a TV biz first, studio will offer live webcasts of next week’s table read and rehearsal for a February episode of the frosh CBS laffer. Table read will take place Monday at 11 a.m. PST, while the full cast run-through is set for Wednesday at 1 p.m. PST. Streaming video of both events will be offered via the Warner Bros. TV website, TheClassTV.com. For the past year or so, studios and nets have been offering downloads and streaming video of some shows before the episodes aired. WBTV is going a step further by letting auds see how the sausage, er, skein is made. Two-day stunt is designed to drum up interest for "The Class," which has been doing decent but disappointing ratings on Mondays.

Sadly I think it is too little, too late to save the show
