Katie Holmes failing Broadway before she begins?

Katie Holmes is going to make her Broadway debut in All My Sons this fall, but if the pre-ticket sales are any hint how she will do, she is already a failure according to the NY Post. One ticket broker bought a 1,000 tickets in anticipation of her debut and he hasn't sold a single one. Not only is he feeling the heat or should I say chill, but so is the productions itself.
"Where are all the Scientologists? Don't they want to see her?" jokes one person, who requested anonymity for fear that the followers of L. Ron Hubbard would hunt him down and make him read all 10 volumes of "Mission Earth."
Talking about the Scientologists someone involved with the production said that they have all been asked to sign confidentially agreements. What do they have to talk about? How bad she is? We have all seen her act, we know she can't. I feel bad for the producers who thought she would be selling point, but then again didn't they see box office numbers for Mad Money? Were there even numbers for that movie?

Who will be Broadway’s The Addams Family cast?
June 25th, 2008 under Broadway. [ Comments: 3 ]

The Broadway Musical for The Addams Family has its Morticia and Gomez according to the NY Post! They are saying that Bebe Neuwirth has signed on to play Morticia and Nathan Lane is close to signing on to play Gomez. While I think Bebe is perfect for Morticia, Nathan Lane is no Gomez. He is no John Astin, who was the perfect Gomez. He is also no Raul Julia who I am sure is turning over in his grave because of the news.
If Nathan Lane plays Gomez, I will cross The Addams Family Broadway Musical off my list of must see Broadway show list.
BTW The Addams Family Broadway Musical is based on the book and not the TV show or movie. Even with that fact, Nathan Lane is still no Gomex

UPDATE: You know who I think would be the perfect Gomez? Craig Bierko! Hopefully Nathan Lane will turn down the role because of the other show he is attached to and the producers will give the role to Craig Bierko!!!

Broadway’s Cry-Baby has something to cry about
June 19th, 2008 under Broadway. [ Comments: none ]

Cry-Baby The Musical will be closing after a little over 100 performances. According to Broadway.com the Tony nominated show will be closing on Sunday.
The producers of Cry-Baby hoped to equal the success of Waters' long-running hit Hairspray, but the new musical never caught fire at the box office in spite of edging out several big-budget shows for Tony recognition. It grossed $276,245 of a potential $1,243,000 at the 1,600 seat Marquis Theatre for the week ending June 15 and played to 64.42% of capacity. Javerbaum and Schlesinger's Tony-nominated score has not yet been preserved on an original cast album.
Cry-Baby may not have connected on the Broadway stage, but maybe it will have a shot when it goes on tour.
BTW hopefully with the failures of Cry-Baby and Young Frankenstein, Broadway will take note and stop turning movies into musicals!

Mario Lopez couldn’t save Broadway’s A Chorus Line
June 3rd, 2008 under Broadway, Mario Lopez. [ Comments: 2 ]

The curtain will go down on A Chorus Line for a final time on August 17th according to Broadway World. The show proved it wasn't One Singular Sensation when it returned to the Broadway stage in 2006. Sadly even after having Mario Lopez do a stint with the show, it wasn't enough to make its revival go for more than just a little over two years!
Hopefully the show will once again be part of the great white in the future and another generation can sing about t!ts and a$$!!!

American Idol goes Broadway!
April 22nd, 2008 under American Idol 7, Broadway. [ Comments: 2 ]

Right now there are Broadway producers rejoicing over tonight's theme Andrew Lloyd Webber on Fox's American Idol at 8p. Since Frenchie Davis stepped on to the RENT stage, Broadway has become home to several American Idol contestants like Fantasia, Clay Aiken, Diana DeGarmo and Constantine Maroulis to name a few. But never in the show's 7 year history has American Idol catered to show tunes. Well that all changes tonight when Andrew Lloyd Webber mentors the remaining 6! Why do I have the feeling we are going to get a lot of Cats and The Phantom of the Opera and not enough Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Evita???
David Cook would do well with something from Phantom because it is so dark. Syeshia will probably do Memories because she always chooses songs bigger than her. Jason Castro will probably do something from Jesus Christ Superstar because it is him. Carly and Brooke should do something for Joseph or Evita, but they will with either do songs from Cats or Phantom. And finally David Archuleta has to do something from Phantom because that is his calling…Michael Crawford 2!
Hopefully tonight will not disappoint because I am actually looking forward to it!
