Bret Michaels’ manager Janna has updated us his condition on his Facebook page.

Test results indicate a setback in Bret Michaels condition a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures.
Michaels’ medical workup demonstrated findings of a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain. It presents itself suddenly as the sound of a loud gunshot or thunderclap at the back of the head causing severe cranial pain and muscle spasms. Many people are speculating Michaels head injury suffered from a prop striking the singer at the Tony awards last June is the cause. Additional studies are planned throughout the week to hopefully detect the exact cause of the rupture. Coupled with the fact that Michaels is a lifelong Type 1 diabetic and has recently undergone emergency appendectomy surgery while on tour in San Antonio, he will remain monitored closely by his medical team to make sure no complications occur from the diabetes.
The most common cause of this condition is a spontaneous rupture of a cerebral aneurysm, however, 15 to 20 percent of spontaneous episodes of this hemorrhage are found to have no cause. Michaels has undergone a continuous series of tests while in the ICU including angiograms, CT scans, MRI’s and transcranial dopplers (TCD’s). Doctors state Michaels is very lucky as his condition could have been fatal. With further testing and rehabilitation, they are hopeful that Bret will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system, which can be a very painful recovery and take several weeks to months. Michaels remains under 24-hour observation in the ICU and is in positive spirits. He is responding well to tests and treatments. Even though today was a minor setback Doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday.

Bret’s bandmate Pete Evick wrote a letter and posted it on Bret Michaels’ Facebook explaining why there has been so much secrecy about his condition.

Hey everyone. Much like Janna, I rarely speak out about Bret other than my own personal facebook comments. But I wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know that we who are closest to Bret, are overwhelmed with the amount of love and well wishes he is receiving. I know that everyone is waiting for some OFFICIAL news, however we just cant give any right now. This is a time for family, a time for healing and a time for love. It is out of respect first and foremost for his precious daughters, their mother and his immediate family that none of us say anything. The press has a way of taking information and doing what they want with it. At a critical time, we who care deepest for him, refuse to offer any information that can be delivered incorrectly. Imagine if your children or parents read something even slightly not true about you or your health on the internet. Its not fun.

I respect their decision and I will be only posting their updates on his condition. Several other news sources (some so-called reliable ones) have posted updates on his condition that have proven false. I really hope the next update is that the blood in his brain is starting to dissolve. I pray that he has to speedy and full recovery.

Continue to pray for Bret Michaels

Bret Michaels’ manager Janna just posted this update on the lead singer of Poison’s website and he really needs our prayers.

Everyone at Michaels Entertainment would like to thank all fans and friends for their continued thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

At this point Bret remains in ICU in critical condition. He is under 24 hour doctors care and supervision. We are hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding, which has still not been located. As we all know Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, etc. will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal.

Here is to hoping they find the source of the bleeding ASAP, so he can begin the healing process.
BTW you can watch him tonight on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice at 9p when the guys’ team gets two members from the women’s team and have to create a workout class.

Bret Michaels has suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage according to People, and he is currently hospitalized in an undisclosed ICU. A source told the magazine that the Poison singer was rushed to the hospital before midnight because he was suffering from a severe headache. Once we he was there, the source added that “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation.”
It is not known if this is related to his emergency appendectomy on April 12th. Michaels also suffers from diabetes.
He was one of the two guys left on Celebrity Apprentice and you can watch him this Sunday on NBC at 9p.
I am praying that Bret Michaels recovers soon and doesn’t suffer any long-term effects from the hemorrhage.

Miley Cyrus is Poison
December 9th, 2009 under Bret Michaels, Miley Cyrus. [ Comments: none ]

Miley Cyrus is going to re-do the Poison classic Every Rose Has Its Thorn according to People. So how does Bret Michaels feel about it? He is way OK with it because he is in the studio working with her on it and rumor has it he is playing guitar on the track.
People added that Miley’s first concert, that wasn’t her father’s Billy Ray Cyrus, was Poison, so she has been a fan for while. But obviously after the song came out because she wasn’t born when it was a hit. Ouch!
BTW I chose the Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey version because ever since that most awesome movie I have not been able to listen to the song the same way again. Maybe Miley will change that…nah.

Look What the Cat Dragged down on Bret Michaels’ face!
June 11th, 2009 under Bret Michaels. [ Comments: none ]

Bret Michaels posted two pictures on MySpace of the injuries he suffered on Sunday when a huge prop fell down on his face at the Tonys. Maybe because I am such a sadist, but those pictures gave me Nothing But a Good Time and made me laugh almost as much as when the Fallen Angel fell on him. Is that wrong? Hey I suffered through seasons of Rock of Love…
BTW if you are like me and you can’t get enough of Sunday’s mishap, here it is again!
