Darker days for Jennie Garth
June 25th, 2017 under Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place. [ Comments: none ]

Jennie Garth went to meet Tori Spelling’s new son and the two Beverly Hills, 90210 alumni took this photo together with Beau. While it was cute to see the three month old with his Aunt, all I could see was that she has brown here now. You know what, it really works for her. She should stay dark because you know what they say, “Brunettes have more fun!”

Shannen Doherty is in remission
April 29th, 2017 under Admirable People, Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place, Shannen Doherty. [ Comments: none ]

Shannen Donherty has been very open about her battle with Breast Cancer and sharing with the World what she has been going through from chemotherapy to radiation and all the tests and feelings that happen in between it all. Now, the actress is going to share with us what remission is like because doctors told her the cancer is gone.

Moments. They happen. Today was and is a moment. What does remission mean? I heard that word and have no idea how to react. Good news? YES. Overwhelming. YES. Now more waiting. As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial. Reoccurrences happen all the time. Many of you have shared that very story with me. So with a heart that is certainly lighter, I wait. In the meantime, decisions. Reconstruction which is several surgeries. Decision on taking a pill for the next five years that comes with its own set of problems and side effects. I am blessed, I know that. But for now…. remission. I’m going to just breathe. #cancerslayer

I am so happy that she is in remission because she has helped so many people understand what it is like to go through the awful disease. In five years, I can’t wait to report that she officially cancer free.

Did Luke Perry and Jennie Garth ever date?
March 29th, 2017 under Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place, Shannen Doherty. [ Comments: none ]

Luke Perry did an impromptu Q&A on Twitter and someone asked if he ever dated Jennie Garth. He responded by saying, “No, she’s my friend.” Which probably makes them like the only actor and actress who didn’t date on Beverly Hills, 90210. I mean, didn’t they all date each other at some point during the show? It was so hard to follow.

When it comes to, if Dylan would choose Brenda or Kelly, he said, “Both I can’t pick.” One thing he knows for sure, he won’t Dancing with the Stars like his former castmates Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and Ian Zeiring. Which is a bummer because he would probably be really smooth on the dance floor.

The cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 spend the big 12-0 together!
January 2nd, 2017 under Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place. [ Comments: none ]

Ian Ziering had a New Year’s Eve party that was so epic, Steve Sanders would approve of it. So big that several of his Beverly Hills, 90210 alumni joined him including Luke Perry, Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, Carol Potter, James Eckhouse and Mark Damon Espinoza.
Seeing Steve, Dylan, Brandon, Andrea, Mr & Mrs Walsh and Jesse together again makes me think that 2017 is starting off on the right note.

Gabrielle Carteris wants to remove actors’ ages from websites
August 25th, 2016 under Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place. [ Comments: 6 ]

Gabrielle Carteris reportedly lied about her real age of being 29 in order to play a teenager on Beverly Hills, 90210. Now, that she is President of the Screen Actors Guild, she wants to make it so that no casting agent or anyone will know an actor’s birth year.
She wrote an editorial in The Hollywood Reporter explaining, “My role on Beverly Hills, 90210 could not have happened for me today, plain and simple. I would never have been called to audition for the part of 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman if they had known I was 29. Electronic casting sites did not exist in 1990; today, they are prevalent and influential. And they affect casting decisions even when casting personnel don’t recognize their unconscious bias.”
She added that it will be up to the actor whether or not they want their age removed from websites or not.
I see what she is saying, but I think that casting agents and studios look at more than someone’s age when they are casting a part. There are times that someone will put out a notice asking for a young, clean cut, African-American male to play a role, and they they will get sent headshots of an old, long haired, Asian woman to audition for the part by that person’s agent.
It is like, where do you draw the line? Where they were born? Nationality? Hair color? Sex?
It is who is right for the role and sometimes when you have a 29 year old playing a teenager, they start to look their age by the time they are ready to graduate high school on the show as was the case with Carteris.
Look at Bella Thorne, she is 18 but I think she can play 30. Do you think if she was right for the role, an agent would turn her down for the part if they really knew she was just a teenager.
Plus, Matt Damon played someone half his age in Behind the Candelabra, and no one cared.
What do you think?
