Lisa Rinna is the new Joan and Melissa Rivers
April 18th, 2007 under Awards. [ Comments: none ]

Lisa Rinna has posted on her MySpace blog that she is taking over for Joan and Melissa Rivers as the host of the pre-Award show coverage on the TV Guide Channel. She said,"I'm delighted to be joining TV Guide Channel at such an exciting time in the network's evolution. Ryan and his team have shown a real commitment to showcasing top-quality entertainment programming, with their Red Carpet coverage of Hollywood's biggest events leading the way. I'm looking forward to September's Emmy Awards and to a long and happy future with TV Guide." I have to admit that after she did Dancing with the Stars I have a whole new appreciation for her because before that I couldn't stand her. I think she is a good choice to be the host of these specials, but then again anyone would be better than Joan and Melissa Rivers, Star Jones and Kathy Griffin.

BTW TV Guide had this to say about the departing (fired) co-hosts, "TV Guide Channel is very appreciative of Joan and Melissa Rivers' contributions to the success of our Red Carpet programming over the past three years. We wish them the best in their future endeavors." I think that is the last time we will see the two of them on TV before an Awards show because who else would pick them up?

E! made the right choice by dumping Joan and Melissa Rivers!!!
February 19th, 2007 under Awards. [ Comments: 1 ]

E!’s Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Depandi trounced the TV Guide Channel’s mother/daughter team of Joan and Melissa Rivers again this year, as the Golden Globes red-carpet rivalry unfolded. E!’s Live From the Red Carpet, which ran 6-8 p.m. ET, earned a 2.07 household rating, slightly ahead of last year’s rating, according to early numbers. It built steadily on the quarter-hours and peaked at a 2.98 rating, 10% higher than last year’s peak. TV Guide Channel’s red-carpet coverage, featuring the famously catty Rivers duo, also running 6-8 p.m., earned a 0.7 household rating, a 17% increase over last year’s numbers.

Broadcasting and Cable

I have been over her obnoxious comments for years. I never understand why stars are still talking to her on the red carpet, do you?

I am happy with the wins for Hugh Laurie, Chandra Wilson, America Ferrera and Grey’s Anatomy, but can someone please explain to me what is so great about the NBC comedies? When it comes to the movies it was expected and what is expected at the Oscars.
