Arsenio Hall shaved off an audience member’s eyebrow
April 2nd, 2014 under Arsenio Hall. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday on The Arsenio Hall Show the late night host offered an audience member $100 if he would either drink a glass of raw eggs, shave off an eyebrow or face the bucket over his head. The guy was a daring man and asked Arsenio if he would raise the stakes. Eventually he agreed to do not one, not two but all three things for $300. So that meant downing the glass of raw eggs, losing his right eyebrow and having some gook fall all over him, and he took it like the man that he is. Although I am sure he cried like a girl when he saw his missing eyebrow.
Who knew that Arsenio found a more painful way to torture his audience than just watching his show. Sorry, it was too easy not to go there.

Scandal’s Dan Bucatinsky can’t stop getting shot!
March 25th, 2014 under ABC, Arsenio Hall. [ Comments: none ]

Last Thursday, Gladiators were shocked when James Novak was shot and killed on Scandal. Well yesterday Dan Bucatinsky, the man who played the beloved character, appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show, to talk about how he found out he would be unemployed. The cast was given a script, and they found out which actors had a target on them. So the cast had their theories who would it be. Some of them tried to reassure Bucatinsky that wouldn’t be him and he was hoping that they were right. Then he got a phone call from the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, and she told him she was letting him go.
As sad as I was to see him go, I think it was for the best because they made his character such a pitiful wimp. It’s like by killing him off, they put him out of his misery.
So I get why the ABC drama shot him, but I don’t get why Arsenio did it. Poor Dan, hopefully that will be the last time that someone shoots him on TV. Oh, and that he never gets shot in real life either and more importantly.

Jay Leno makes his first late night talk show appearance on…
February 27th, 2014 under Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno. [ Comments: 1 ]

Jay Leno said goodbye to The Tonight Show less than a month ago and yet he can’t keep himself off of late night TV. Case in point, yesterday he appeared on his friend, Arsenio Hall’s, show to give him some good news. What is that good news, you ask? The Arsenio Hall Show will be back for a second season…with Jay Leno as a host. Leno was joking about him taking over his job, or was he? I mean it wouldn’t be the first time or the second time Leno took a show from a host.

Scott Bakula is still Quantum Leaping!
February 26th, 2014 under Arsenio Hall, Quantum Leap, Scott Bakula. [ Comments: none ]

Even though Quantum Leap ended almost 21 years ago, Scott Bakula is still leaping, Yesterday on The Arsenio Hall Show, it was revealed that he leaped into the late night’s host body after his last visit on the original version of the talk show. Too bad he couldn’t have leaped into the head of TNT’s body to save Men of a Certain Age because that was such a good show. Actually better yet, too bad he didn’t leap into the head of NBC’s body and saved Quantum Leap all those years ago.
So here is a funny story about Quantum Leap, my dad discovered the show on G4 and feel in love with it. Then one day he called me all upset, and that is because the network suddenly cancelled the show. But that wasn’t the only reason why he was upset, the last episode that they aired was the first part of a two parter. So he doesn’t know how the JFK episode ended and I tease him every now and again threatening to tell him how ended. And to make matters worse that episode is not on Netflix or Hulu, and I am too cheap to buy him the DVDs. Although one day I might give in because he is still upset that the show got cancelled. Almost as much as I was when it was cancelled the first time.

RuPaul sums up racism and sexism perfectly and how to end them!
February 21st, 2014 under Arsenio Hall. [ Comments: none ]

RuPaul is a African-American Gay male and yesterday when he was The Arsenio Hall Show, the late night host basically asked him if he feels more hate for the color of his skin or who he chooses to love. What the infamous Drag Queen said next should be written down and taught to kids all over the world. He summed the need to hate perfectly and to hear why makes you think we can end it now.
Here are some the ingenious things he said yesterday on the show. On Michael Sims and other young people coming out, “If you are good at sports or whatever, that (being gay) shouldn’t matter. But unfortunately our culture is a masculine based culture. Our culture is obsessed with masculinity.” Sadly, we are and we need to move past that ASAP. Who cares how manly our men are, as long as they are good people.
On whether he feels more or less homophobia from the African-American community over others, “This is the thing, people who have been oppressed take on the characteristics of their oppressor and that is unfortunate. It’s take a lot for people to climb above what they have been taught. It takes a huge effort to do that.” Then he added, “So you would think natural allies would be black folks, gay folks because the plight is really the same. That they would be natural allies, but that is not the case. It’s because of that oppression storyline.” So let’s right now say we are going to change that storyline because everyone of us has been oppressed at one point in our family trees, so let’s end the oppression now.
So is the hate towards someone race or sexual preference the same or different? He said, “I’ll tell you why it’s the same. It has to do with the ego needing to strengthen itself through putting someone else down. That’s the similarity.” Then he added, “That’s the same with people who have been oppressed for religion or race or sexuality. It’s not even about homosexuality. It’s almost not even about any of that. It’s about the ego needing to prop itself up and strengthen and its identity.”
So how do we end all of this, here’s his simple solution, “It’s not rocket science, love is the answer.” So today instead of hating someone for whatever reason, let’s love them for that same reason.
I know this is deep, but it is also so inspirational. If RuPaul can change one person with this interview than it is a start. Hopefully he has changed more than one and I am hoping these words can change the minds of millions. So you better work and spread the word!
Seriously, I just want to give him a hug because I love love love everything he told Arsenio.
