On Sunday, Maroon 5 is going to take the Super Bowl half time stage. In honor of the occasion, Anthem Lights recorded a medley of the band’s greatest hits.
As much as I love it and have had the song on repeat for the last hour, it proves to me why Adam Levine should not be doing the coveted spot. They are a chick band. Girls love them, men not as much. The Super Bowl is a man’s thing and they want more macho music. Why Bon Jovi has never done it is beyond me. They could bring the crowd to their feet like the deciding play in the final seconds of a the game.
Bands like Maroon 5 and Coldplay are just not going to do that. Then again, they can surprise us like Bruno Mars did. However, Levine says he has moves like Jagger, but, let’s be honest, he doesn’t have them.
Having said of all this I do like the band. I just think you have to know your audience and this is not their audience. You need a band that can blow the roof of an arena. They cannot do that. How do you feel about Maroon 5 landing the biggest gig of the year?

A few years ago, I heard this great medley of the year beforehand’s biggest hits and I loved the song. I used Shazam to find out who did it and it was Anthem Lights. I found out that was one of their many year-end medleys.
Well, it is that time of year for 2018’s version and they mashed together Maroon 5’s Girls Like You, Ariana Grande’s no tears left to cry, Drake’s Gd’s Plans, The Greatest Showman’s This Is Me (although wasn’t that 2017) and Zedd’s The Middle for one awesome tune.
Sit back and listen to it and then listen to their other mashups on their YouTube page.
I was at the veterinarian’s office last year and I heard a great medley on the radio. I wanted to know who did it and turns out it is a band that does it all the time. Ever since then, I have been following Anthem Lights and they have given me several musical treats. Their latest is perfect for this time of year.
As June, the wedding month wraps up, they recorded a medley that any couple would love to have played at their reception. They mashed up Rascal Flatt’s Bless the Broken Road, Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years, Train’s Marry Me and John Legend’s All of Me into one beautiful song that would make any newlywed swoon. The only thing it is missing is a song from Ed Sheeran.
Seriously, isn’t the tune so romantic that it just makes you want to fall in love while listening to it? On that note, I am single!
