Can you believe this America’s Got Talent contestant is only 10?
August 11th, 2010 under America's Got Talent, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

All day I have been hearing about Jackie Evancho and how she wowed everyone on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, but I didn’t watch it until now. Now I know how Britain felt when Susan Boyle sang that first on Britain’s Got Talent because that is how I felt when I heard that big voice come out of that little 10 year old girl. Can you believe she is only 10? Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
I am so glad that AGT added the YouTube auditions to the show this season because if they hadn’t we might not have ever had gotten to opportunity to hear that angelic voice. Just wow! She left me speechless.
Just like Dan Sperry left Howie Madel hysterical and Sharon Osbourne in hysterics.

New Directions gave me chills, left me in tears on America’s Got Talent!
June 2nd, 2010 under America's Got Talent, NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

Yesterday was only the premiere of America’s Got Talent on NBC and I already know who I want to win, New Directions Choir. The choir is made of former homeless veterans. Even though these guys were homeless, they have won a permanent place in my heart. Their story how they turned their lives around was inspirational enough, but their voices gave me chills. So adding their story to their voices equaled me in tears by the time they were done. I am really hoping they win because they have such a positive story of going from nothing to something and that is what America’s Got Talent is all about!!!
If I found my winner on night one, I can’t wait to see if there is someone else that can top them. So tune into AGT tonight at 8p and every Tuesday and Wednesday on NBC for what is shaping up to be their best season yet.
BTW is it just me or was Howie Mandel a really great add to the show? I just love the vibe he has added to the show.
Finally New Directions Choir reminded me of the real life story of The Christmas Choir I saw on Hallmark. If you have never seen the movie, buy the DVD or make a point to watch it the next time it on The Hallmark Channel because it is the best holiday movie I have ever seen.

See if America’s Got Talent starting tonight?
June 1st, 2010 under America's Got Talent, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

America’s Got Talent is back tonight and tomorrow on NBC at 8p and there is another new face joining the show this season. David Hasselhoff left the show to have his own and even though he left a huge seat to fill, Howie Mandel agreed to do it. A few weeks ago I attended an NBC panel and he told us why doing the show was such a Deal for him, “When I first came out, I was just getting on at The Comedy Store, and then you would get on ‘The Tonight Show.’ I think ‘America’s Got Talent’ in America is the foremost to get that kind of exposure. Even if you don’t go all the way and win, you are getting exposure like you can’t get any other place. So when you asked would I like to do it as a talent? I don’t think there’s any other choice. If you have opportunity to get this kind of exposure on our show, you can only be propelled to something bigger than you already are. So I think it’s a phenomenal vehicle for talent.”
When asked if we should expect more comedians getting through because he joined the show, he said that is sort of a No Deal. “No. I’ve been a fan for the last four seasons, and now it’s an honor to be part of it. I don’t think they’re changing it up because I’m a judge. There are comedians on, but I think the beauty of this show, that it’s an open forum for everything, and that’s what I love about this show is you can be a singer. You can be a dancer. You can be a mime. You can have a troupe. I am seeing things that I can’t even put under a category. It’s not dance. It’s not music. It’s just incredibly and I don’t think from as a viewer, now being on the show, there isn’t more stand-up comedy. There are stand-up comics, but I don’t think — that’s not what this show is about. They don’t want it leaning towards what I do.”
There was also something that he was leaning towards and that was actually joining an act of one of the contestants who auditioned. Fellow judge (and only original member of the show) Piers Morgan had this to say about it, “He decided to get on stage with some weird acrobatic act in a sort of steel wheel. And I am gonna say, for a bloke who is as old as him, he can move pretty good. He started wheeling around like a hamster.” I can’t wait to see that. Howie isn’t the only who lent a helping hand or ball, show host Nick Cannon took part in a more than one. Piers Morgan enjoyed talking about Nick’s misadventures this season, “The big story of this year, apart from Howie joining the panel and being hilarious and irritating in equal measures, is this guy (Nick) is dying repeatedly. This guy is literally lucky to be alive. We had a cyclist who jumped up and down on his bike and missed his lower abdominal regions by two inches, which could have been very distressing to Mariah Carey. We’ve had Nick and another guy who was throwing playing cards at 100 miles an hour. Literally the fastest thrower of playing cards in the world. Cut two sticks of celery in half and missed his neck by an inch. He set fire to the underpants, he was [inaudible], and literally nearly blew himself up in the process. And then in one bizarre scene, a quite slight lady asked Nick to jump up and down on her back and nearly paralyzed himself. So he nearly died and so did she. This guy is a walking miracle.” Sounds like we have some interesting things to look forward to this season, but the one that Piers is really excited for us to see is, “We had a dominatrix in Oregon who piants like Picasso. My favorite act. Really accommodating. Made me laugh.” Yeah those two go together.
See what other interesting acts judge Sharon Osbourne got to experience and we get to enjoy this season Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8p on NBC.

David Hasselhoff no longer Got Talent
January 7th, 2010 under America's Got Talent, David Hasselhoff/Baywatch. [ Comments: none ]

After 4 years of being a judge on America’s Got Talent, David Hasselhoff has announced he will be H-off of the show’s 5th season. The Hoff told People, “I am proud that I was part of making America’s Got Talent the No. 1 rated show for the past four summers. It’s been a rewarding experience and now I’m thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly.” I really hope that his show isn’t a Vareity show of him singing every week, what did we do to deserve that?
David is not the first person to have quit the show, Brandi left after being a judge for the first season and she was replaced by Sharon Osbourne and Regis Philbin also quit being the host that season and he was replaced by Jerry Springer who left the show after 2 seasons and he was replaced by Nick Cannon last year. NBC has not announced who will replace The Hoff, but I am really hoping they get Paula Abdul. Afterall what is she doing now? That and they need an American on the panel because otherwise they are left with two Brits and the show is called “America’s” Got Talent. Piers Morgan is the only person who has been with the show all 5 seasons, what does that say about him?

Did you have as much as the girls on America’s Got Talent?
August 5th, 2009 under America's Got Talent, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Last night we got to see the first round of live performance on America’s Got Talent and there were some $1 million performances that are worthy of having their own show in Vegas. I had a lot of fun watching Lake Houston Dance and Grandma Lee, but did they do enough to move on to the semi-finals? Find out tonight on NBC at 9p to see who will advance and who will go home. And as we wait to find out the results, the host’s (Nick Cannon) wife Mariah Carey will perform live on the show as well as the show’s biggest success story Terry Fator.
